You’ll receive the motor base, 72 oz blender pitcher, 64 oz food processing bowl, plastic dough blades, spindle and dual-sided slicing and shredding disc, 24 oz blender cup, drink lid, and illustrated color manual with recipes. The 1800-Watt motor base. It measures 8” wide, 9” deep, and 9” tall. There are 5 buttons on the front: power, manual, BlendSense, Mode, and Pulse. There's a rotary dial for menu selections that you’ll press to start or stop a selected program.
All the vessels install quickly and easily with a simple twist-to-lock mechanism. At the back of the machine is a 2.5 ft 2-prong power cord with included Velcro cable tie and on the bottom are air flow vents and four suction cup feet to prevent the unit from moving or sliding during operation.
The single-serve blender cup is made of a clear, durable plastic. The max liquid level for the cup is 21 oz or 644 mL. For storing, pouring, or drinking from the cup, a sports lid with a capped spout is included for on-the-go convenience.
The blender pitcher measures 10” tall, 8” wide, and has a flip up lid over the pour spout. When the handle is snapped in place, the lid will be locked on securely and can’t be pried off. The 3-tier blade spindle must be removed from the pitcher before pouring out its contents, as they’re not attached, and would simply fall out otherwise. It has a 64oz liquid max capacity.
The food processing bowl allows you to shred, slice, and make dough. It comes with a plastic pusher for the food chute and is pre-installed with the 3-tier metal chopping blades, but is compatible with the plastic dough blade and spindle for the slicing and shredding disc. The max capacity of the bowl is 64 oz. As with the pitcher, the blades for the bowl aren’t attached, so be sure to remove them after use. Be extra careful handling any of the blades as they are extremely sharp. All vessels, blades and accessories are dishwasher safe.
The blender base weighs about 6.5 lbs and the rubber feet on it work extremely well keeping in firmly in place during operation. When you turn the machine on, the default mode is BlendSense, which will detect the contents of the vessel and automatically select the power and amount of time for blending to a smooth result. You can press the button again at any time to stop the program. The blender is quite loud, though not uncommon for this type of appliance.
The blender cup is great for making smoothies, salsas, chutneys, and dips. Just remember to stack your ingredients from softest to hardest and that a fuller cup will result in a more thorough and consistent blend. The final texture of my smoothies made in the cup were silky and not gritty, even with seeds in the mix. The drink top has a leak-free seal, however, was prone to leaving drips on the mouth piece. Just remember that you can’t put hot ingredients in the personal blender cup as the pressure inside could build up potentially causing it to explode, nor can you store blended food with the blades still attached, a vacuum seal may form making it difficult or impossible to open later.
The food processor bowl saves me some cabinet space with one less appliance and uses large/small chop, mince, and disc modes. Large chop, small chop, and mince are all timed pulses for a set amount of time to acheive the desired result. The disc blade is double-sided and can shred on one side and slice on the other. However, I did have an issue with shredding a block of semi-soft cheese where some cheese got trapped between the blade and the lid. Unfortunately, this caused the disc tilt high enough to scratch the bottom of the plastic pusher, so that’s something to watch out for. You can make bread dough just using BlendSense mode, which detects the dough and lowered the speed on its own.
The blender pitcher did a nice job with hot ingredients, blending my soup stock and veggies down to a smooth puree using the BlendSense mode. If you’d like to have more control over what the blender is doing, go ahead and switch to manual mode and you choose a speed from 1 to 10; the machine will automatically stop after 60 seconds.
For easy cleaning, fill the vessel half with warm soapy water and run BlendSense. Be careful not to fill the vessels all the way or they will overflow while blending.
Overall, the Ninja Detect TB401 Kitchen System performed well both as a blender and food processor, while using the same 1800-Watt motor base. With the pitcher installed, it’s 17.5” tall and still fits under my cabinets for storage. From smoothies to frozen drinks, bread doughs, and hearty soups, BlendSense makes most jobs a simple one-touch operation, though pulse and manual controls are still available for times when you want more control over the final result. Thank you very much for the review and helping new users with a through details
Thank you for a very helpful review, I plan to buy Cuisinart brand but after your review, I decided to buy this ninja machine because of the price is so much cheaper too, only $200 compared to $600 14 cup cuisinart food processor (in Canadian dollar).
awesome review.the best i have seen for this product
Wow, thanks!
Great review!! Thank you so much!!!
searching for a glass bowled processor/blender, wonder if that exists considering how dangerous it probably is.
might have to end up coming back to this
thanks for the detailed review!
Great review
Please can it mill dry ingredients and could it be used to make peanut butter?
Thank you very much for this detailed review. Do you know if it can blend/mill dry grains like rice, or spices like white pepper, black pepper, cinnamon sticks dry?
The cups should be able to do so, but note that grinding hard spices may create micro-scratches in the cup's interior that will make it appear permanently cloudy.
Awesome Review thank you !
Thanks for this video!
You're welcome!
Great review! Can't find anywhere, can you please check if the voltage on the detect model is also 220v? Usually electronics support both 120v and 220v but not sure about blenders in general
The Ninja Detect motor base is only rated for 120V, not 220V.
Can you make very fine rice flour starting from dry rice with this blender? Whether it's with the main cup or the smoothie cup. Thank you!
You could probably do it in the smoothie cup, though it's not "recommended" as hard grains will ultimately create micro-scratches in the clear plastic making it look cloudy over time.
Thanks!
You bet!
@@ReviewedByPhil I'll probably buy it now. Unless you got any other recommendations?
Thank you for this. My display says "Install," even though I had the pitcher mounted with water in it. What am I doing wrong?
Have you figured out how to clean food from the plastic blender handle? I’ve had mine about two months and there is a build up inside the handle.
Can u tell me how to use the chip for cucumber. I tried and it kept shredding. I had it to disc mode but no luck
You have to flip the disc over so that the long/wide cutting blade is on top, and the small shredding holes are on the bottom.
You can blend hot stuff? It doesn’t crack?
Yes, the large pitcher is designed to withstand heat. It's made of durable plastic and will not crack under normal uses. That said, I would probably stick to ingredients that have been cooled slightly after heating e.g. wait 5-10 minutes after boiling or roasted ingredients before adding them to the pitcher.
Does it work for cold press juice?
No. Cold press juice would require a slow masticating auger juicer like this one: geni.us/65hx [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] Any high speed blender will eventually generate some heat during processing, and it will not filter out pulp and fiber the way a juicer would.
Did it say not to put hot liquids in a manual ?
Yes, no hot liquids in the sealed blender cup. It's part of the safety section in the manual. It's fine in the pitcher and food processor bowl because they are not sealed and therefore cannot build up dangerous amounts of internal pressure.
@@ReviewedByPhil oh ok , i rly wish I could buy it but it’s not available in Europe yet😔
Is 220v available now on amazon?, in EU ?
Tengo este conjunto y con el vaso grande se derrama todo no sé por qué
brilliant review ty
Thanks!
