MAKING A MINI SAFE WITH COMBINATION LOCK FROM STEEL & BRASS- MILLING, TURNING, EDM MACHINING

  • This project took a lot of time and energy. Roughly 2 months of work and the cost of quite a few overtime hours. The raw materials mostly consist of stainless steel and brass, but of course I also used aluminum to lighten the structure. It has become quite a heavy piece compared to its size, weighing about 5 pounds and of course hard as hell!
Fine adjustment of the door took a lot of time and precision, I tried to produce as precise parts as possible so that the structure would work without gaps.
Building a MINI SAFE With Combination Lock From Stainless Steel & Brass - milling, turning, edm machine - technology video
How it works? Every detail is in the video so if you are interested you can check it out!

    22:17 - Assembly
25:34 - Milling the steel box
    27:18 - die sinking EDM

    Mini safe details:
    - Material: stainless steel, brass & aluminium

I have repaired, worked on safer,, made parts for old safes, repaired and installed combos, and have taken ATM safes, modified them to be money safes for 50 years. You have done an excellent job making one from scratch,. The only thing you forgot is on a real safe there are fake bolts that are on the hinge side of the door that when closed they will go into recessed pockets that will not allow the safe to be pried open if the hinges are cut off.

Was going to mention the same.
Perhaps it's a "school" project he is doing?
When I was in school we made a canon, with wheels and a gun carriage for it.
Not stainless steel, but could be treated in an owen so it would give a blue "color" to it.

Many of you guys wrote that it would be easy to take out the hinges. The fact is that it can be pulled out, but the door cannot be opened because it is physically blocked by the internal geometry of the door.
