    I have started using Tekton a bit more after buying a wrench set and being completely blown away with the quality. They do not flex, stretch or chip. The finish is extremely nice and the fitment is superb. They stand up next to my Snap-Ons that I paid 5x more for.

    I'll be really surprised if you don't like the Tektons. I have the shallow and deeps as well along with a set of metric wrenches and 1/2" drive metric chrome sockets I've had for quite a while and are holding up beautifully. I use them almost on a daily basis and I really like them

    definitely interested in the quality of the Tekton stuff in a professional environment, I signed up for their student rewards (15% off) and the 10% back on their website. I like the 'completeness' of some of their socket sets, I may not use all sockets but I want them there just in case.

  • @brian_youtube
    @brian_youtube 5 лет назад +2

    I personally own the 3/8 drive, SAE and metric, deep and shallow and the 1/2 drive SAE and metric deeps. I do not own the 1/2 shallows at all due to size skips since I have a reasonable complete Craftsman SAE and metric shallow set, just without a case. I agree with you 100% on those smaller sizes. I rarely ever touch anything under 14mm with a 1/2 drive.
    My non-use observations are that they are CR-V steel vs Cr-Mo. What I don't know if how they are hardened which I assume can make the CR-V as good, close, or maybe even better than the Cr-Mo we know in quality impact sockets ... I don't know. Using them, they work great. Really the best thing you can say positive on tools is that they work as intended as you need them to and they have not broken or damaged any fasteners. Skipping the 16mm and 20mm as you mentioned here is an issue for me in that shallow set. I personally think that skips is where the line is drawn between targeting a professional and a DIY'er. Although I am not a professional, I just needed a 20mm for a Honda crank pulley. Skips are one of the worst things to me, especially when you have no backup options, since when you need a tool and don't have it, you are screwed. Even if it is only once, you would have wished you got a complete set vs the one with skips.
    Neiko man, I don't know. I own nothing from them so I am curious. I did some research on them in the past and it appears they are a rebrander or random stuff with no company web site at least that I can find. I sort of view them as a Harbor Freight but with no warranty. They do claim some warranties, like the common 1 year, but that restricts you to your retailer and there is no company contact readily available. Tekton offers a reasonable price and an amazing warranty and service process. Yes, if I break one I am still out a tool, but they ship out same day and it is usually 2-day shipping. That beats most everyone out there, DIY or Pro, unless your truck will be there in the next day or two.

    I purchased that same 1/2" drive Tekton Metric shallow impact socket set about a month ago. I've used them working on my Honda 420 Rancher 4-Wheeler to pull wheels, repair a snow plow mounting plate and adjust my steering linkage and they work great. I am using them with my really old 1/2" Made in USA Craftsman ratchet and love the fitment over the nuts and bolts with no slipping or stripping. The cost of the 1/2" drive Tekton Metric shallow impact set from HD was $28.99 and the cost of the deep 1/2" drive Tekton Metric impact socket set at HD is $47.99 (I didn't need the deep impact metric set as I already have a Northern Tool metric deep socket impact set that I purchased 10 years ago and still work great). I hope you find those Tekton's fit the bill for professional use. Cheers Justin!!

    YO I was against them at first but carbide blades all the way I had to cut a diesel 46mm fan clutch nut in half and burned through 6 blades without scratching the nut and same with some diesel truck leaf spring shackle bolts and I got a 2 pack of Milwaukee carbide blades 1 blade and it cut that fan clutch nut and shaft in half without dulling the blade at all hands down best money invested ever when it comes to Sawzall blades

    Ok 1/2 inch tekton 30 mm vs mac 30 mm axle nut tekton loses power thru the socket too thin maybe .what I saying is I rattled that thing forever nothing put my mac on it boom came right off.both shallow 1/2 impact.i think the larger sizes suck but up to 19 mm are ok.

      Ive used the SAE 1/2 inch master Sunex set for 2 years now in the shop and my service truck. I have zero complaints. I work in a high volume heavy diesel shop working on road building equipment, heavy equipment and vocational trucks. Highly recommend them! I don't use any Cr-V impact sockets.

    Sunex vs Tekton vs Neiko... not for professional use... folks thoughts on relative merits in impact sockets for small cars and home-DIY use?

    • @Ed.01
      @Ed.01 4 года назад

      If you want 1/2 impact deep, the three brands you mentioned are good. Husky 1/2 deep set, they're very strong sockets and very hard material for the price. I prefer over a Pittsburg pro. For 3/8 just get a mid length or semi deep set from grey pneumatic, for the price you cant beat them. They're not as hard material as the husky but they do good and you'll use them 95 percent of the time. The astro pneumatic nano shallow impacts are good too. Their cr mo material is very solid. And if you dont have a nice swivel set(if you buy swivel impacts I'd get a name tool truck brand) you can use the swivel adapter on them and they work well. Oh I forgot astro pneumatic just came out with swivel impact set that is pinless that you can get for about $65 which should be a steal although I haven't bought any yet (have a nice sk set). GP 3/8 semi deeps and any of the 1/2 mentioned would get you going, you'll upgrade later if you like.
