Free Victa Lawnmower! Can we Fix It?

Here is a Victa Lawn Mower with a 4 Stroke Briggs and Stratton Classic 3.5 engine which I was given for free because the previous owner could not start it.
I couldn't help myself but accept it and take it home! Question is, what is wrong with it, will it start and can we fix it?

its good to recycle old mowers and the satisfaction of giving it a new start with someone else to use.
I just restored a rover that had the Suzuki 2 stroke engine on the body just stripped it down and cleaned it up like new .
First pull every time to start it up I end up selling it for funds for the next project mower but great job on the swap over. sometime you have to bite the bullet
and do that to make a good mower.

Well done , Drew but I would have liked to see a test mow of your lawn...Both the Victas had the underbody curved blade surround missing (only held on by 4 pop rivets) so the tornado effect might be compromised with some grass clippings shooting out the front instead of all been directed out the rear into the catcher...Also it would be interesting to see you restore compression to the Briggs And Stratton engine (change piston rings and/or hand grind and clean the valves , etc).

Hi Alan, I think you are referring to the “Turbo Disc”? I do not believe that this was included on all models. Cheers Drew

I literally just sold one exactly the same as this. A carby bowl full of crud didn't help and a stretched Govenor spring. Sorted that and a fresh tank of 98 and she ran like a dream.
