The carbs need a rebuild and the chain is fucked,and why would you replace a V&H pipe with a 2bros.Other than that it looks like a decent project.Good luck.Cheers

You guys have no idea what your doing. Just take out the carbs take the float bowls off and clean them. Take out all the jets and spray them with carb cleaner and reinstall them. You might also need to replace the float pins. That’s why the gas is leaking and flooding the carbs.
As someone who owns 1998 thundercat I would highly recommend stripping the carbs, cleaning and rebuilding them. Also it's worth checking the float height whilst rebuilding them and doing a carb sync. When taking them off its also worth checking the carb inlet rubbers for any degredation and replace if needed. A full service of oil plugs chain and sprockets won't go a miss and will be great for more content. Would highly recommend a 520 pitch conversion aswell.
Sounds good! Change the oil, the carbs probably dumped fuel into the cylinders that eventually made it's way to the crankcase. Seafoam first, may get lucky? If the carbs need to be done look on the forums, there are usually a few guys who will go through them for reasonable, saving you the frustration of getting all the parts and dealing with stripped screws. Many of these guys do a better job than some shops, some of them ARE the guy from the shop. Seafoam first, if it clears up throw fresh plugs in and change the oil. If the Seafoam fails pull the carbs, and while they are being rebuilt put fresh plugs in and change the oil. You can also hunt down a seat on Fleabay while waiting. There is a mint one on there right now.
U should check spark first if the cylinder that isn’t firing has a wet plug it’s getting fuel

If the tank looks like that the fuel system needs going through. Carbs are in need of at least bowl drained and checked
The carbs are probably gunned up but Check the plug first. If it’s a flip run Sea Foam first, if it helps you’ll know what to do, if it doesn’t fix it all together. ✌️

Clean the carbs and put fresh sparkplugs in...if those are the original spark plugs change them I bet you'll find at least one or two of the plugs that are fouling...
When stuff sits the jets clog up from old fuel in the carb bowls turning to gel, pull the carbs and clean each bowl, each of the 2 jets in each of the 4 carbs. Than replace each needle valve, than take
A thin wire and push thru each air/fuel passage in each carb
I’d clean them and THAN run seafoam

@@Mr.Thrilll anything that fits. Personally I save old clutch cables and I cut a 6 inch section of wire off, take it out of the casing and use one single strand sometimes 3 strands twisted together, generally I have it on hand and it always works great
Rebuild the carbs first and foremost. Then use a additive. Personally I use berymans b-12. I don't use seafoam

looked like it was leaking out of the overflow valve. it's flooded with gas. i'd checkthe spark plugs and see if they are fucked.
I felt sure it would start after you changed the pipe.
With carbs maxy if bike runs OK there fine. The cylinder which not running lift tank and the carb with cold pipe underneath the bowl , is a drain screw loosen it if fuel comes out. Will help if fuel or spark. Another tip if you rebuild note the turns of the pilot screw so set back after for smooth ide. 😊

bro ur asking to lose some fingers or a hand doing your chain like that. i lost the tip of my finger and the bike wasnt even on. all it takes is the cloth to get caught up and it's over. no time to react. be careful man, you need those hands. it's all love, im not hatin on ya brother.
Yeah that made me tense up a bit, was doing the same as you just giving my chain and sprockets a bit of a going over. Next thing I knew I felt pain and looked down and my fingernail, whilst still attached just fine at the sides, the entire base of it was now on top of my finger. Painful as fuck, I'm not a clumsy guy either but it's so easily done.

Everyone has mentioned the carbs but check the coilpacks. Eack pack runs 2 cylinders and that sounds like it's running on two.

I have the same bike. Clean those carbs and the fuel tank if needed and you’ll be good
Get your fuel fittings/lines fixed and clean the carbs. Put the old pipe back on. Before you buy plugs swap a coil if you can and see if the misfire follows the coil. And don’t loose a finger doing that sketch chain maintenance.
To all the beginners looking at max clean the chain like that, DO NOT DO THAT. people lose fingers all the time like that

Does it have carbs if it does some use acidtone in the gas tank to clean the jets change the spark plugs check rubber carb boots for cracks go to Lowes buy the big round fan it's like 3 foot round circle it keep the bike cool and blow out the fumes out side from the bike

I wouldn't have used that tape to increase the ID of the exhaust pipe, the is an exhaust pipe expander at Harbor Freight. It goes on a drill and expands the exhaust pipe there are two different sizes .

If it was mine, I'd change pluges&wires or at least snipp the ends off and put caps back on. Then change the chain, add new coolant. Ride it real good get her nice and hot and up to some speed. Should be good to go. If not I'd just clean the carbs then re synchronize them. After all that is should be ready to ride bro. Good luck BAYYBEEE!!!!
Check all spark plugs for spark after cleaning plugs with wire brush .
might have to adjust idle too and spark plug and plug cables 1st thing i would try if one cylinder is not working. napa might have the spark plugs.

Sounds like my GSXR-750 I had. Also ran on 3 instead of 4 sometimes. Mostly just a quick drive and the 4th cilinder would pick up while driving and it was fine after. Was more a fuel deliverything instead of something broken. Had to do with the vacuum operated fuelsystem. Took some time to get it to the 4th carb.
Clean those carbs and fix the fuel leak. Bike should start and idle at about 3k rpm choked and idle about 1300 rpm when warm. Idle adjustment on the right side of the bike
Change the spark plugs check again possibly coils Don't mess with the carbs unless you absolutely have to

Sea foam in every tank before riding every year. Not much, just enough to break down the bad in the gas. Sea foam first, if that don’t clean it up remove and clean/rebuild carbs.

The carby needs a clean & rebuild! If it hasn't been started in a long time, the jets will get clogged! I'd also check the spark plugs, It's only running on 2 - 3 cylinders, but that could also be caused by bad coils
Buying a sitting bike with carbs is a pain. Carbs need to be synced and rebuilt, 100-300 dollars

These morons are too high. They can't move the bike a little further out of the garage to vent the exhaust fumes out.
Recommend at least running carb cleaner thorough it and doing a leak test to make sure the fittings aren't letting air in.
Think about that exaust ewery engine should be tuned to its changed pipe if you aint doing it on dyno you probably would see that it makes less power with new one than with old one

Pull the airbox and dump a couple of cans of carb cleaner into the carbs. If the carbs are leaking then obviously that needs to get fixed. If the carbs are no longer leaking then just dump some carb cleaner into the carbs.
Holding a rag on the chain like that is a good way to loose a hand.
