I have a 07 thundercat. Please please please clean the carbs your float bowls are definitely full of rust if it was in the tank. Your secondary jets are clogged it should rev way faster
Secondary jet? No such thing exists in there. There are only a few things that control fuel in those carbs, and we can rule out a couple by what we know so far. 1. Float needles/seats. 2, Pilot jet. 3. Idle mixture screw. 4. Main jet 5. Emulsion tube 6. Needle jet 7. Needle. Float needles seem okay since it stopped pissing fuel, pilot jets are okay since it idles, Idle mix screws control fuel for idle mix provided by the pilot jet, these are also okay. Main jets control wide open fueling, they are not clogged or it wouldn't redline. Needle jet is just an orifice for the needle to ride in, ok. Needle taper controls transition fueling between 1/4ish and WFO, again should be okay since nobody fucked with the carbs. What is not okay are the emulsion tubes which are responsible for fuel atomization 1/4ish to WFO. The main jets threads into them. The holes in the side are plugged up. IIRC Yamaha calls them bleeder pipes? I wouldn't rule out crap in 1 pilot/ Idle mix circuit but it sounds like it runs pretty smooth. An ultrasonic cleaner cannot be beat for cleaning carbs, poking wires into holes will just ruin the carbs.
@@Dead_Assassin Didn't miss anything, the slide lifts the needle in the needle jet. Sounds too good to have a stuck slide, highly doubtful it would be ridable with even 1 stuck slide.
my thoughts exactly, I just bought a thundercat off my brother, the thing has been abused for 37,000 miles and has very little service history but the carbs were fully reconditioned in the last 6 months and the power is smooth as butter, only judders under 2,000 if you're really trying to make it but this one is stuttering and coughing, when they go to the gas station he's revving it and the revs are falling way too slow... so definitely needs the butterfly return spring replacing, i dread to think of all the crap built up on them to return to idle that slow... engine braking on mine is probably as much fun as gunning straights, rip the overrun and she loses speed really precisely because the carbs restrict the flow so well
There’s 3 main reasons engines misfire or “not run in one of the cylinders” fuel, spark and compression. Go in and like I said clean those carbs bayybeeeeee and you’ll be good to go, other issues could be a leak in intake manifold, or rubber boot between carb and Motor! Replace that chain too man you don’t wanna have it brake and go thru the engine case

Man was the definition of a noob for a while, a great guy and one of the few you tubers that seem to be 100% genuine and kind hearted but a fucking noob still tho lol! Yo Maxy! You need to invest in a compression gauge. Start checking your individual cylinder pressure before you commit to buying anything. Fuel is rarely a problem on most bikes and if it is, it’s a usually an easy fix. Always anything carbureted especially old or that’s been sitting clean the carbs with more than sea foam. Love the stuff, but will almost always require more. A proper carb clean/ rejet if needed and plugs will go a long way. Even brand new carbs can be touchy. Safe riding my friend thanks for keeping the content rolling baybeee!

Clean your carbs properly bro and then get yourself a chain and sprockets. As far as the speedo goes there is a magnetic piece in the front axle that the cable goes into and makes everything work. That magnetic piece probably broke inside. Not a hard fix and should be fairly cheap to.
Highly suggest cleaning the carb and tuning it, otherwise you gonna run into way bigger issues. Buddy of mine lost a few piston rings because of bad fuel mixture and clogged up carb. Hope it helps :)

That's not true its definitely not running in 4 cylinders carbs need sorted. It also would redline on 3 cylinders. Hope you get it sorted love these videos !
Check the coil packs. It sounds exactly like my old one did in this video. It would misfire below 6k and run fine above that. I did the carbs, air filter, plugs etc but in the end the coil pack sorted it straight out. ruclips.net/video/Ky8NPSUapW4/видео.html
Your buddy knows absolutely nothing about carbs and how they work! They aren't that complicated, try YT for a vid that explains how they function and educate yourself. Chevron Techron is pretty much the exact same chemical as the Yamaha Fuel System Cleaner. A bottle in a full tank should clean anything that can be cleaned without taking anything apart. Too much Seafoam at once will kill plugs and won't run, it isn't fuel. Check head pipe temps to see if you are running on 4, cold ones are problem cylinders.
It hurts to watch you ride that bike without the carbs set up and firing on 3 cylinders.

I have a factory set to replace them all that are clean and usable. I jetted my carbs so I don’t need them so the offer is there.
You miss the slide and if they are stuck you'll no venturi flow only the the cutaway.all old bike run out petrol 4 litre left and turn on reserve

Needs sync and maybe 1cyl missfires. Not ok definetly.
You can rev it to the limiter. After 7000rpms it should accelerate faster. It should go about 240km/h stock.
That seller says to you, that he cleaned carbs, but not sync them. That is nessesary to run that bike ok.
