"Starving artist" and "struggling actor" are very common descriptors for people of any color who choose art or acting as a career. BUT today when talking about or with a Black person that struggle to become successful is always attributed to race. Clearly Mr. Williams did not see it that way and prefers to be acknowledged for his work not his race. He has more intelligence and class than all the race baiting women of The View combined. Why is race an issue brought up in EVERY show?

He is a Brown skin man. If he wishes to be considered a Brown skin man that his prerogative. The man did not coin the title Black man. He played the role of a Brown skin man. The larger society coins the title Black man, Color person, Person of color, African American, or many other names that have been attached to a Brown skin man.

I'm sure he probably would have rather passed, BUT he did what he had to do... he has a book to sell.
I’m sure the leftist viewpoint is to blame. You can’t ruin a democratic republic like our precious United States without pushing division every time you speak…
He was certainly a very handsome man.

When was this time?
@@carlosbustamante4934I came here to ask the same question. Because blacks, African Americans, people of color, etc were rarely allowed to be on the big screen unless they were in a reduced role. Some were even replaced by whites wearing darker makeup.
Back when they showed us how we should live instead of the dark side of the human race. They made you think about how you treated people. They made you wanna do better.
Name this wonderful time in American history please?😂😂😂
What is Sunny bringing up race every time someone comes on the veiw. She needs too get a life and move on.

Race is the elephant in the room that no one in America wishes to address.
@@Collageartist69RUFKM? It’s addressed EVERY DAY! Along with gender identity/politics, etc. How are you going to say no one wants to address it 😂
Right?! Race is only an issue for race-obsessed people who are hanging on to opinions from generations past who make it an issue, people who refuse to accept that in today's America people are regarded based on their character no matter what race or skin tone.
The view will keep racism alive and well until their last day on air for without it, they will cease to exist.
That day can’t come soon enuf. They are all obnoxious, hateful, opinionated and horrible hags.

Billy dee Williams handles it very well ......
He is not being understood. Labeling people is not respecting him and others.
Exactly. Thank you sir !!!! These race salers get it in the face
When I look at Billy D. Williams, I see a black man. It's only after speaking to him that you get his perspective on race and colorism. That's basically how it is here in America. I've looked at many of his movies and have seen him as black. I don't think that Sonny is racist. She's a realist. In America, things have changed somewhat but you see what you see.
worked with billy on 2 films..just the best guy..jack english...actor/location mgr..weho......may/2024😀
He played black roles and did not mind title when he was getting PAID.
He played roles. Not black roles. It was his job . Not a black job. 😮😮😮

@@YEAR-1-RELICS I’ve loved Billie Dee’s acting since I FIRST saw him portray football great, GAYLE SAYERS in the TV movie,
“Brian’s Song”, in 1971.
“Uncle” Billie Dee, is sadly STILL IN DENIAL. Joining him, ppl like “Uncle” Clarence Thomas, “Uncle” Tim Scott & OTHERS, DIDN’T learn OR FEEL pride in the ACCEPTANCE of their BLACKNESS. Instead of joining the fight with/for their people~they opted to side with the enemy oppressors.
All became azz-kissing Republicans (Trumplicans), ONLY interested in “getting ahead” & USING the BLACK Race Card, WHEN convenient for them!
So…GONE are: integrity, self-respect, character & common sense in owning their BLACKNESS.
After all, Billie Dee, ClarenceThomas & myself~lived THRU the struggle of the Civil Rights Era: The fight to CHANGE DISCRIMINATING LAWS, in order to ENABLE HUMAN RIGHTS & VOTING RIGHTS FOR BLACKS in this country. Were THEY asleep???
➡️1. When Billie Dee was INDUCTED into THE BLACK FILMMAKERS HALL OF FAME, he DIDN’T announce that he was “Brown”, but he accepted the Honor.
➡️2. When he ACCEPTED various NAACP IMAGE AWARDS & NAACP LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS, Billie Dee DIDN’T announce: “I’m not a Black Man. I’m a Brown Man.”
He would’ve appeared as an azzhole.
Shame on you, Billie Dee. You’ve lived that long to be only passing on the old “color-struck” stereotype of dissociative of Blackness. Sad.

My dad was a little jealous of it, LOL, but he was also a huge fan of his probably cause he was a Star Wars Junkie! Billie Dee Williams was never considered a Black actor in my family, he was seen as one of the most Brilliant, Mesmerizing, Articulate, Amazing Actors of his generation. Sunny and the View Crew really need to stop putting a label of "Color" on Everybody and Everything just to cause hatred among people and to stir up more racial idealizations which I believe are only in the minds of a very few ignorant people these days. What’s wrong with being called Black when you’re clearly BLACK? Black people comes in all shades ( we see this in our families) but the color “Black” is just a description. Racist Whites DENIED Blacks their inherent Rghts & DISCRIMINATED against Blacks, bc of Color~NO MATTER WHAT SHADE. Not only were ppl of African Decent discriminated against~but THE FIRST AMERICANS~NATIVE, Indigenous Americans, Asian Americans & more!
Blacks grew into the ACCEPTANCE & PRIDE of BEING BLACK, which had been STRIPPED from~SINCE Slavery. This became the “norm”. Until Black Historical leaders championed our government into ENACTING CIVIL RIGHTS.
So your facetious statement of being WHITE AND PROUD was NEVER an issue. Whites already we’re exercising their Constitutional Rights WHILE DISCRIMINATING upon NON-Whites.
It was only a problem WHEN BLACKS stood up & FOUGHT to CHANGE LAWS to ENABLE our Rights & when we OWNED OUR BLACK PRIDE, this caused disarray amongst your White ancestors back then~and ‘til THIS DAY.
