Hello David, today I did a test with an Elecraft KX2 with builtin ATU on 20m. Your 20m Teleskop Whip Antenna SWR full extended was about 1:1,5. With a 4m wire counterpoise SWR was about 1:5. But with internal tuner tuned to 1:1. I have QSO and tested it also with a WEB SDR in Spain. With counterpoise the Signal was between 1 and 2 S-units louder as with Whip Antenna alone. Also I see this difference in receive. It´s right that handheld without counterpoise is more sporty. But with counterpoise it is more efficient
Fantastic antenna you have designed David. Well done and thanks for sharing. I think your kits will be very popular. This has to be the most interesting design I`ve seen so far. 73...M0DAD (DAVID)
Thank you ! 40m is still in construction. I did a lot of tests, it is a little bit better. Finally without a counterpoise is a lot more comfortable. Just the whip and nothing more. It is a very good emergency/prepper solutuon.
If you don't put a quarter wave counterpoise, your radio, the microphone cable and your body will form part of it. Thanks for the funny demonstration 👍😃!
I've been amazed at how well this antenna works, having a blast with it and the FT-818. I adjust it up or down for lowest SWR. I would recommend the PL-256 plug because the BNC is a little weak and I broke one off the 20 m coil. The other one is still ok but it's deteriorating due to the stress.
Hello David I was wondering if you have uploaded your STL File some were For download. And Where did you get the Telescopic antenna I Love all what you do and they make me want to get back in to Ham Radio Again
Hi David, did the antennas need to have ground over the operator. Is it tuned for using it handheld or does it works also fine, if you use the transceiver e.g. on a table, may be used an angle adapter for the antenna?
Hi david i have built my anttenas kits i got from you verry nice indeed all tuned up perfect i just waiting for a warm day these days i dont do well in the cold chris G0WFH
Hi i have good swr on the covered bands i have not been out to test them been a night wirker i am allways a sleep i the day time Hopefully i will get out soon
How much of an impact did band conditions have on the contacts shown? On a normal day, what would be the expected range of this antenna on 5W SSB with, say, something like a Xiegu X6100? Based on OM0ET’s video, the results seemed a bit mixed imo; to be fair, he only called CQ for a few minutes on each band. Would this antenna be reliable within a few hundred kilometers to have extended conversations, or is this more the sort of thing where you just exchange callsigns? Not really interested in DX or contesting, but I think that’s the only thing QRP seems to be used for. I just want to be able to have conversations with people in the regional area on HF (within my state and maybe surrounding states). Just curious what’s realistic with QRP SSB and compromised antennas.
A dipole is better for sure but it works great for normal distance (first hop) All contacts are spontaneous. It is very simple to make a contact. You have to take a look on the S meter. If the signal is S9 or better, the station will hear you. 73 David
@@QRP.lifestyle Thanks for the reply. I don't own an HF radio yet, but I definitely might have to try this antenna if I get one. Trying to do 5 Watts, using SSB mode, on a telescopic whip, in a big city... still sounds pretty unrealistic, but I'm crazy enough to try anyway. I only have a MFJ-1880T right now, but lol, doing 80 meters in a handheld configuration like that is surely impossible. If SSB doesn't end up working for me, I may try to do JS8Call.
@@odysseyofnoises Have you tried a loop antenna ? I use the MFJ-935C and always make contacts with it sitting on an outdoor patio table. You have to make different loop size for different bands but it's more efficient than a single loop for all bands. I made contact from Ireland to Canada 20 watts with 4 meters of copper pipe bent into a loop. Just make sure and tune with low power. I Use a small loop then for 17 and 10m and have no problem making contacts all over Europe 20 watts, very interesting thing to use, JS8CALL gets old fast, nothing like SSB contacts especially with less than ideal antennas.
Danke für Antwort. Ohne Spule und Whip auf ca. 1,5m eingezogen sollte doch auf 6m auch gehen. Und letztlich auch 2m und 70cm. Das ist doch eine Lambda/4 oder?

This is 100% QSL, you can reduce the telescopic length and will get a better SWR
Thanks David for the Antenna Setup! I baught this! Very light and perfect performance!!
Very effective implementation David !! Congrats 73de DL/SV2LLJ Ioannis
Hi David, good antenna system. Your kit is really well thought out. Congratulations on your DX connections.

Cool, congratulations, i'm very happy for you 🙂
Can you do a 2mtr whip antenna M7HIJ Steve UK
Great antenna that’s what I need for my USDX 👍😉
Wouldn't the system be much more effective if you were using a counterpoise? Anyway fine business! Any plans for a 40 m version?

Counterpoise is mandatory. I use the MFJ 1840T with 7 meters of wire and works better than nothing.

The coil for 10,12,15 meters is 32mm?
9, 0.75 wire turns?
Yes
Sweet! I knew this was possible! Good job!
Is there a version that matches the trusdx low bands (20,30,40,60,80)?
40-10
Does the screwing antenna make contact with the btm nut & bolt.
I bought your antennas and love them. I was wondering if you could tell where you got the whip. I'd love to have a spare or two.
It is a little complicated some rework on my cnc was needed

Yes without

A modernized miracle whip antenna?
Hi David. Is it possible you provide .STL file ?
No, because you need some laserparts and modify the whip on a lathe ect
Well done. What is the quality of the whip can I ask?
Very stable
Seems like a lot of weight and leverage from the antenna on the radio connector. Broken PCB are not fun.
Only on metal case radios not on the trusdx

What is the diameter of the 20m band tube coil of your new design antenna also 40mm same as the other one you make ?
