He mentions female bass players, and I’m surprised Carol Kaye didn’t come up. She might be one of the most prolific bass players of all time regardless of gender. A true legend.
Seeing clips like this always puts me in mind of what George Sluizer and Peter Bogdanovich said when asked to comment on Phoenix‘s death, having both directed River in the last two years of his career. Peter simply responded with: “It's impossible to calculate the level of envy in Hollywood, I think envy killed him”… George concurred by saying: “Yes, I agree, there’s definitely a lot of very jealous people in Hollywood right now”…
@@SirChristus16 he was likely referring to john fruciante. william reichert strongly believes JF gave river the drink that killed him. river's father said if he ever saw JF he would kill him.

I’m glad to see this because I always thought that the time river spent with the rhcp guys and my own private Idaho crew was the beginning of the end for him. I’m not sure exactly when this was filmed but he is obviously using while flea looks clean
I don't know if Flea is clean, but River is definitely high as hell...you can tel jyst by his voice. Honestly it's really sad he just kind of slowly slipped away. Whats sadder is he helped and encouraged people fight their own addictions while falling into his own. It may come off as hypocritical, but i think he was just overly empathetic. He felt too much.
@@Babywolfchick1142 I don't agree with you at all. River is in character here as James Right the character in The Thing Called Love. It's a character. Watch the movie and you will see it's a character. He is even wearing the shirt that James Right wears in the movie here.
definitely he was high as shit during this and that country music movie he was in. he looked horrible and it is in my opinion his ONLY bad movie. Dark Blood is better unfinished than that shit was. if he had lived he was gonna be struggling with this addiction for years and it might've fucked his whole career up for him. heroin's not something you start and finish in a couple months. it takes years and years to get a healthy hatred up enough to quit. fucking tragedy. You don’t know shit about Flea. Flea was the main friend of all his heroin using friends that always told them to tighten up or he would actually help them get better. He helped both John and Anthony get clean and woke them up to reality. Flea had no control at this very moment and probably didn’t even realize that River was high on heroin until the interview was rolling. I’ll bet everything I have that Flea, being the type of friend he is, actually talked to River after this interview.
@@burdman1333no flea was secretly playing guitar with John when John was practically dying and did nothing to help him besides want him back to make them another billion dollar album
That’s such an ignorant statement. River was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was a user of drugs before he even met RHCP. RHCP aren’t who got him into that shit 🤦♂️ he just so Happened to be good friends with Flea and a friend of John’s as well. The night at the Viper Room, he was in search of heroine or whatever drugs he could find. Him and John would often use together and that night just so Happened to be the last night he used, and John just so happened to be the one who gave him what he was searching for, but not realizing the drink he gave him was too strong. People say it could have even been the Valium he was given by somebody else that actually killed him, not the drink John gave him. He wasn’t feeling well and somebody said “here take this Valium, it’ll help you calm down”. And drug users know that mixing a benzo with both Coke and Heroin is a deadly combo. If John wasn’t even there that night or if it was somebody else who handed him that drink, you wouldn’t be saying anything. Plus, Rumor has it that multiple people were drinking the same thing, not just John. So it could have easily been someone else who gave him it to him. I’ve actually read a few statements saying that Johnny Depp was the one making the drinks with that shit, then told John to pass River the cup to drink. Then after he passed, apparently Johnny fled the country 🤦♂️Nobody knows for sure what exactly Happened, but don’t say some stupid shit like that 🙄 River was a big boy who made his own decisions. The last one he made just happened to be a tragic accident.
@@burdman1333 thats not what samantha and other witnesses said he was clean and sober when he arrived at the viper room it wasnt until fruciante handed him a cup and he draink it that he became seriously ill. 5mg of valium doesnt kill anyone it was the 8x lethal dose of heroin and cocaine. autopsy shows no nasal or resp residue and no needle marks. you know nothing.
Flea is trying to explain something that's as natural to him as breathing, but it can't be taught. I admire River's dedication to learning and music, but he was no Flea.

Flea: Tina
