What he didn't mention was if you are using a light arrow on you're crossbow with out limb dampeners and string silencer's it's going too damage the limbs first they are going too crack and then split and explode so i use heavy ones that's as close too 500grains with a 30 grain nock and a 125 grain field tip or broadhead and I've had no problems with it and carbon express piledriver are good for this with Lighted nocks

How do I know what length and weight arrows/bolts to use for a cross bow?

It’ll usually in the description of the product. If it doesn’t give you a weight in the description, it’s probably not worth buying.

Whatever you use make sure they are all the same weight and make and all the vanes are straight and not bent for accuracy.
And double check to make sure the nock is positioned where it should be to align with the crossbow string. I bought an arrow that wasn't aligned properly with the right color vane and when I shot it the string broke and the arrow didn't go anywhere. So don't just assume the nock was put on right at the factory . The machine makes mistakes and quality control must of been on smoke break?

    When did crossbows switch to
    Shooting arrows? Historically all
    Crossbows have shot bolts.

      @@michelleruger9394 great
      Comment. I make the point
As a way to illuminate the fact
      That blending technical terms
Is a subtle way of changing
      Perceptions about beliefs.
      Bows shoot arrows. Crossbows
Shoot bolts. As a lifetime archer
I think it is important to
      Maintain the distinction between
A bow and a crossbow. If you
      Are a crossbow shooter I
      Applaud your efforts and skills.
      But let's be clear crossbow
      Shooters and those who shoot
And hunt with a vertical bow
      Are in two distinct categories.
Neither is better than the other.
They are just not the same thing.
      Someone riding an electric scooter
      May certainly want to believe
That they are a " biker" but
They are not. I appreciate your
      Comment and trust me I've
Been called a smart ass more
Than a few times. But mostly
      I'm just smart.

I’d shoot the heaviest f’n bolt they make. Lighter arrows blow up crossbows. You’ve been warned.

Quality matters. Brand, in my opinion, does not matter EXCEPT for that some brands have a reputation for quality and some don't. You will not be getting much quality assurance from the cheapest stuff that you can find on eBay.
