True Kit Boat Testing

- We have a new model coming. Each prototype goes through rigorous testing to see if any improvements can be made. It's a tough job but someone has to get out there and do it! Let me know what you think of the boat, what colours you think it should be, what changes you would make in the comments
I'm excited. This is my first time buying a boat. My kayaking days are over. 😂 Can't wait to take mine out on the bay here in Sydney, Australia.
I went for the red TrueKit Discovery 330 model. Bought a new EFI Mercury 15 hp. Got the Railblaza Transom wheels too.
Great little boat. Gonna have me loads of fun. TrueKit - Choice Bro. 😀
Great boating times ahead!
Ive got the red discovery 330. Best inflatable I've ever owned by a million miles. I run a 9.8 parsun two stroke, goes like a rocket. Now corona virus restrictions are easing in western Australia i cant wait to get it out on the water again. Transom wheels make life a breeze. You'll love it
Perfect spec. Enjoy and post some impressions with the 15 ontransom
I got mine delivered today. Cant wait to test it off mornington
@@alihaider9117 lucky you bro. I'm waiting for my red discovery to be delivered and still I won't be able to use it with the can't travel outside 5k from home restriction😭. Might see you at pfb some time. Safe boating man.
Looks fantastic! Can't wait for the release of the 4 metre Discovery. Sooner rather than later please! Mac
Going as fast as we can while ensuring we do all the appropriate tests and checks
Looking great! Love the new colour also! So keen. I think the new lightweight 20HP Tohatsu would be a good match also.
Agree, should be a great match
TRUEKIT.NZ Can’t wait 😊
@@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Why is the 340LX rated for 15hp when the 20hp is the exact same weight?
@@DavidKulpSr While they may be the same weight, there is a power difference between 15 and 20hp
Still tossing up whether to purchase a 3.3m or a 4m. I am just worried if i get the 4m it will be too heavy to wheel down as i like to beach launch especially with a 40kg outboard on the back. Did you have any troubles Rod? thanks
Definitely Red please both from a visibility point of view and to make it easier to put registration numbers on the boat :)
Red is likely to be available in the second release of the 4m. Thanks for your feedback
Hi, why does that make it easier to put registration number on the boat?
Fantastic looking boat and a great idea, are these available in the uk?
I live in southland nz. Waiting to see a review for your boat in extreme rough conditions. Once you have a review available, most likely purchase on thw outcome of thw review
I’m guessing this would be an awesome boat to spearfish out of. Stable and easy to get on and off. Doesn’t need a big outboard either. Very tempted on the 4m version.
Yes the Discoverys are very popular with Spearos for those reasons!
What’s up with this spearfishing? Kinda creepy to me.
Cant wait to buy one of these!
Fantastic looking boats Rod and definitely on my list hopefully for this year.
I’m interested to see how they handle chop and swell and also how the wheels perform on loose sand/shingle. Any chance of a video showing this ?
Thank you, lot's of videos to be made this year!
Any distribution of these in western Canada? If not I'll have to sail over and buy one.. Great looking dingy
Sail over! But if it's too much of a challenge, we do DHL the boats anywhere in the world
@@TRUEKITINFLATABLES second that, western US here, arrived faster than I could ever imagine in about a week (ymmv). Awesome experience!
Ntennis G how was the customs and taxes for importing the boat? Was it difficult to register the boat with DMV? I’m close to pulling the trigger on a 330 as well.
Is this the new 4 meter ? Looks awesome ... red please ...
a cuissart I think this is 330cm !
@@Captain_sar this is the new 4m
Really the features and design are fab! Wish I could get more info about US dealerships and pricing.
More info will be released in due course close to when the boats are available, won't be too long!
The 4m is definitely a go. my first boat... cant wait.
Thanks, look forward to you joining the True Kit team!
Have been seriously contemplating the Disco 3:3 with tohatsu 15 for uk coast and estuary fun. A 4m version looks even enticing. Specs? Max hp, packing size? Black perfect for cool uk. Keep us posted. Is there an owners club forum?
All specs will be revealed for the new Discovery 4.0 in due course
thnx. will watch and wait.
Love the new colors...very handsome. Regarding the black and red motif, do you think either will noticeably fade much in the UV light?
Love the sound of that Yamaha 15. I’m in the states (Colorado)... I will look for this one when it’s available. Thanks!
We haven't found any noticeable fading in the Valmex fabric colours. No doubt though, darker colours will get hotter.
We haven't made a final decision on the colour for this boat. Our red boats and grey boats have both been very popular
TRUEKIT.NZ - thank you for your reply. I have looked far and wide for purchasing options and although there are a couple suppliers here in the USA I do believe your boats are made of better quality materials and workmanship. For me those considerations are primary with an inflatable. Everything has been on hold since COVID-19 lockdown but I hope to finally convince the miss’es to pull the trigger once we have moved.
@@dominiquestephenson195 I feel for all my friends in the States and other parts of the world going through extended Covid suffering. We are so fortunate down here in NZ. Being remote islands in the middle of the South Pacific was a huge advantage in eliminating the virus. As I write this, other than the border restrictions, things are back to normal. Here's hoping the rest of the world is back to normal soon
TRUEKIT.NZ - I’m pretty impressed with your PM and Kiwi common sense in general...we could use a bit of that here!
Can we see this in wavy conditions?
Hey Rod. After watching these vids 20 times I noticed that the 4.0m does not have seats. Will they come with a couple of seats? The seats are handy to mount a fish finder on.
All information will follow in due course, but yes, there will be provision for seating. Fish finder screens can also be mounted on the Ribports too
Seems there are few people commenting wanting to see how it handles choppy conditions. is this test being avoided for good reason? I'm curious as a boat like this would suit my purpose if it can handle
Not avoiding anything. We are super busy doing boats for customers. We do the videos when we have the time. When time allows we will get some videos done in some rough water
Hi Rod . Can you tell me what height the prop should be on the 3.3 Discovery ? I get a lot of what i call splash up around the motor when going along. I even get a wet backside at times.. Cheers Mate.
Cavitation plate a bit below waterline. Some engine cause more spray than others. Adding foil can also reduce spray
What is it like with 3-5ft seas?
I first saw these amazing boats with Rotkit a wonderful guy just fishing and chilling, are you going to make the 4 metre one in Red? Sorry but Red is my favorite of the colours, love what you’re doing
Thanks Michael - stand by, RED is coming in February!
I have been keeping an eye on the 3M discovery and had a question. Do you recommend a 15" or 20" shaft outboard?
Short shaft is what the boats are suited for
I'm in. Sign me up for the new 4.0 !! already looking at a Yammy 15hp. Will it be announced on this channel or on your website ? Do we subscribe to a mailing list ?
Hi Steve, it would be best to send me an email also so we can contact you directly. Thanks rod@truekit.nz
I see by your reply to other comments that this is indeed the new 4.0m ... what engine size do you recommend for optimum performance and economy ? Thx.
Yes, the cats out of the bag. This is our new 4.0m Discovery, coming soon. Personally, I really liked it with the 9.9hp lightweight engine. But some want maximum speed or to load it up more heavily. It's a bit of a personal choice
is it posible made ...boat from truck inside tire ?
Rod, will these boats have the bench seats? Thanks, Paul.
Hi Paul, it's a detail that I am still finalising but I think so.
TRUEKIT.NZ that would be great👍
Hey Rod, I noticed the front of this discovery model has a new shape, it appears longer too? Is that right? Looks awesome man👍
This boat is 4 meters so you are correct, it looks different. Tubes are 500mm diameter. A really great boat
TRUEKIT.NZ thanks for the reply Rod. What will be the colour options as black would not be good in Australia, it’s just too hot. Thanks.
@@paultaylor3856 I love the black, that one is for my personal boat. But I don't think we will do black because the boats do get used in hot regions like yours.
TRUEKIT.NZ well it certainly does look awesome, and good to read all the positive comments about the colour. Perhaps you could do it in black but have other colour options too like the red which just looks amazing.
I like the grey here!
So what about in a bay with small waves!!
We can do better than that - check out our video in the surf! ruclips.net/video/EDYZpI4WuwM/видео.html
Wow that looks amazing
Can you buy these with the engine as a bundle, if so what size and make engine?
Only if you are in NZ. Yamaha, Suzuki, Mercury...
Nice new colour scheme, love it. Looks slightly longer than the 330?
This one is 4 meters. Not available yet but coming...
Thanks for the reply Rod, 4m discovery you say, very interesting. Any idea on a hp rating yet?

Are true kit boat good for all types of water ?
Hi there. Yes, suitable for lakes, rivers and sea
New colours mate ?
Not sure yet. We like to test a few different things when we are doing prototypes and see what works and what looks good. Colours are a tricky one, not everyone likes the same thing!
@@TRUEKITINFLATABLES looks great. My 330 will be finally hitting the water soon after being corona virus locked up. Can't wait
If you're doing unofficial poll, I'd say this new color is super cool. Grey is my other favorite. Many brands go with black and grey theme for "pro" or "premium" feel... This felt like that to me too.
I hope it comes in black, look for one very soon
Are these in USA too?
We sell them directly to our customers and we ship daily to the US. We have a growing True Kit community in the States
Do you guys ship to the United States?
Hi there. Yes, we do daily deliveries to the US. Currently we are sold out of some items so there can be delays and we always recommend getting in touch through our website to pre-order. Thanks
is that the 4.0 m?
Yes that's the Discovery 4.0m
Looks great, love the color - - slick! Load it up with a family of 4 - curious as to the performance with 9.8 4-stroke. I can't wait to unbox my 330 Discovery (just arrived from NZ) and try out out at a local lake here in WA state! Hope 9.8 Tohatsu is going to push it along well enough :)
I will have to come up to WA to visit to do some boating one day!
@@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Rod, you're welcome here and the boating and islands are amazing. Pacific NorthWest USA and Canada are incredible fun. I'll be shooting the unboxing video tomorrow and post soon!
Ntennis G - please post an update with your observations/impressions of your setup. I have the same questions and would like to hear your opinion on the 330’s handling and capability carrying a family and/or a dog (if applicable). Also your impression of the boats construction and perceived durability and if that 9hp or a 15hp is the better option. I’m currently in MN but will be moving to CO this summer. I like the idea of throwing the (deflated) boat and motor in the back of my Toyota 4Runner and driving off road to remote lakes and rivers to fish. Have fun. Thanks!
@@dominiquestephenson195 I did a lot of research and talked to Rod regarding the right outboard. Weight was the most deciding factor, so hence ordered 9.8BS. Still in the box, but will be taking it out this week with vids and report back
Ntennis G - thank you sir .
