Electric Outboard Demonstration on True Kit Inflatable Boats
In this video we wanted to demonstrate how our boats go with electric motors and cover some frequently asked questions. We highlight how easy our boats can be moved along with the ePropulsion eLite and Spirit 1.0 Plus on a windy day. We apologise for the wind noise!
As more and more boaties are interested in pairing their boats with electric motors, we often get asked things like:
- How do True Kit boats go with an ePropulsion?
- Can they go into a strong current?
- How heavy are they?
- Which shaft length should I get?
In this video we try to answer these questions and more...
Here are the performance results we found:
eLite:
Navigator 300 with 70-150kg Payload = 6-8kph
Discovery 330 with 70-150kg...

How To Pack Down a Discovery 4.0m Inflatable Boat
How much is the freight to send a TK 3.0m Navigator to Fremantle Western Australia?
Running one with 5hp 2stroke. 12knts with 2 adults ie 160kg onboard. Still running it on 25:1 mixture so may improve. No problem getting on plane but takes while to max out at 12knts. Currently running factory 8" prop, suspect 7" would better match at these weights.
Have seen both hyperlon glued seems and pvc heat bonded seams failing in tropical Australia....???
Nice work. If you cut the handle on your brush nice and short it makes applying the glue inside the tubes a little easier, especially for smaller openings
Great video. We have a 4m Discovery with an ePropultion Spirit 1 and it is perfect. We get around 7km/hour on flat water with 4 people and 2 big fat labradors.
would be good if you guys came back to doing the hutchwilco boat show in nz so these can be seen in person
Amazing work! Greetings from a fellow professional, although in the SUP sector. Could you tell me where you got your roller and scraper from? Best regards, Michael
Best I have ever seen ..Thank you So much From Ireland
Nice work! You are “savvy” young man! I will be purchasing a True Kit for sure.
You forgot to sand off both areas - port and boat - an extremely important part of the process missed out !
Sanding is NOT recommended with this material!
Nice, have been trying to source a Navy 3 from ep but they don’t answer emails and their stockists have zero stock. Has anyone imported one of the Chinese 3kw outboards?
Nice one luke👍👍👍
looks great with the shade cover
Great tutorial very professional, thank you 💯
Cheers you've been a great help 👍
How far do you pump up the boat ??
I have to ask , while the boat is inflated isnt the air still coming out of the hole in the boat ?? Doesn't this mess up the fixing of the patch ?? I thought the boat would need to be deflated so there was no air coming out ??
Yes, great point. If it is a substantial leak, then it should be deflated. For very minor leaks its not necessarily needed, however for the best results we do recommend deflating it so no air can affect the repair.
MEK is no longer allowed here, what is the best substitute?
hi is the 2m idea for 2 person?
very cool
😅wow great demo 😮
How much the boat sir?I want this kind of boat..
I'm from the philippines my place always flood..
No wonder you guys got wet. Ya forgot to bring your umbrellas! Sokay, you can warm up by a fire with some hot toddies! Great demo video though! 😄
Thanks for the great video, answered many questions I had. Looking forward to my new Navigator 3.3
tow tings to transom? There was not much information available on them when I ordered. Installed them after and they work great.
It was awesome meeting you and seeing these dinghies at the Annapolis boat show! You can definitely tell the quality in person, thats something that stood out to us. Thanks for making this video!
Love this clip clears up a lot of questions also love the changes to the discovery models the raised outboard mount and the fact that the seats are now adjustable will be ordering around xmas time
Nice to see you are now shipping from FL, this was the only reason I didn't buy one two years ago as shipping from NZ was way to expensive. Good Luck.
thanks for your effort, What type of glue you used?
OK, well the main question that was not even addressed at all is... how do you replace the entire valve (including the new "basket")? It's all very well showing a cut open piece of the boat but that's not what people have. Are these valves originally put into the boats before the boat is glued together? If so do you have to cut the boat open to change the whole thing? What you seem to be assuming is that you need to leave the old basket in the boat and just replace the new valve and cap parts, in which case what;'s the point in buying the whole thing? I need to change two of mine and I'm just hoping the old baskets are still ok.
Great video - how do you think the smaller 2.8 Discovery would go with those motors?
Torn between the camo 350 or the 330 Cat love the accessories coming available for these inflatables everything has certainly come along in the last 10 years
We continue to develop our products any accessories to provide our customers with the best boating experience. Thanks
Great review. Thanks
Two seats always good then you can leave one out if you wish
Will have to get one of these cats for 2025
5yrs ago, and still really helping. I'll remember now generous and controlled with adhesive, and thorough prep. I use isopropyl instead of MEK because I believe it is less toxic fumes for hoomans. Thanks, appreciate you.
👍
right on, good info
6:15 lol "cut, cut"
you are boring me
USA Dan here. Getting ready to order a 330. In one of your videos please turn the boat upside down so we can see it. I owned a truck load of boats in my 77 years and the hull is very important in my purchases. Thanks
Awesom! I have finaly decided to upgrade from my torqeedo to a 6hp and have been trying to figure out which 6 would be best. Is there any reason why you went with the yamaha 6hp?
Would love one but can’t afford it
Will it still plane with the 6hp without the fin thing? What size prop was on it and was it cupped?
Love that new color scheme and hope to get the Discovery 4M ordered in the US in that color shortly. Will be pairing with a Suzuki 20HP EFI manual trim and start. Same weight as their 9.9.
I just ordered a navigator 3 meter. The maximum recommended motor size is 10 HP. Before watching this video, I was thinking about getting the 15 HP anyway, even though it is larger than recommended. But seeing you run the discovery 330 with the 10 HP, I don't think I would want to put more than 10 on the navigator 300. Thanks again for doing this. Would love to see more navigator content.
Any plans to replicate this test with a 15hp Yamaha 2st with Permatrim fitted? I’d be interested to see the difference between the std 9.25 x 10.5 prop, a cupped version of that prop, a 9.25 x 9.75 Ali prop and a 9.25 x 10 SS prop. I’ve seen the Rokkit 15hp Merc prop vid and the difference with the 9” SS prop. A Yamaha test would be great if you had plans to do this. Cheers.
I have a small rib and noticed what sounds like water inside the pontoon when moving the boat on the trailer. Yet the pontoons hold air. Any tips for water removal from the pontoons?
Do you know if anyone makes a metal valve removal tool? I'm having trouble with the plastic ones breaking when I need to remove a valve that has been in place for a long time. Or do you know of a higher end plastic tool available?
