We’re hardwired to connect with other people. It’s why one of the core values we have here at Hope moving forward is that we gather with other people.
And not just online or through social media or video. Those things can be great and fill in gaps sometimes. But we are meant to gather in person with other real people.
As much as people - especially Americans - say they want to and then try to do life without anyone else getting in the way, we can’t do it. Not very well for very long, anyway.
Why is that way? Well, it’s because this is how God made us. He made us to be in relationship with other people. That’s what we see in Genesis 2.
And most of us - really, almost all of us - were also made to have the closest human relationship two people can have - the relationship between a husband and a wife.
But the way that you and I who are disciples of Jesus come at this whole thing is from a different perspective than the rest of the world. The way we approach marriage and relationships is going to be different than the world around us. Because we come at these things based on what God says in his Word about them, instead of based on our own thoughts or ideas or feelings about them.
And so today we get to see what happens WHEN GOD MAKES A MARRIAGE:
1) A MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN
2) A MARRIAGE BETWEEN A SAVIOR AND A CHURCH
