I love this channel to the moon and back. Your travel documentaries are so good I have watched some multiple times! All your Q&A videos are on point!!! You know your shit
Of course the community will grow...look at all the comments! :D no doubt this channel is amazing. But also at one point it would become hard to do what he does...and this is answering all freekin comments! :D well done!
***** ..and probably people will answer "..ahm no". :D Have a nice Trip!...before you stop reading (assuming we are still in the time when you read comments and dont act like a total $%#&! ).. ;) .. i have a question: How do you prevent your camara-lense from fogging, in counties with high humidity? Do you allways let it "acclimatize"?
Internet made traveling so much easier. I remember back in 1995 we spent 6 long hours in Cape town to find a hostel with two free beds. Finaly at 3am we got our beds. That was insane.
I really hope more people get to come across your channel. Your editing and just everything about your channel is just really cool and professional. Me and some friends have been taking about taking a backpacking trip to Asia and South America, and your HK2NY videos have made us so excited to make a trip like that happen.
Ideas for the tip section. Travel scams Packing tips What travel tech works and what not Food ( fun, nasty, delicious, and what not to eat) Best locations to go or most overrated travel spots Best parties round the world Avoiding mass tourism Karl great channel you created!! Nice work..
Hy I have sat down and watched all of your vidios hk to ny I think it was great keep the good work it just inspires people to travel . I`V been traveling all my life and still going to new places I am going on a world tour at the end of the year Keep up the good work.
Hey. Great channel recently subscribed. You are one of the creators who motivated me creatures like the travel project in the Polish language. Best regards and waiting for more movies.
Awesome work Karl!! It would be great if you can make a video about how you make your documentary style videos (filming tips/techniques & editing etc). I would love it if i could get my traveling videos looking half as good as yours
Great video. Two questions, 1) What do you do for meals while on the road? Do you gravitate more towards restaurants or is street food your first choice? 2) What travel insurance do you recommend for year long travels.
First off, I discovered your videos 2 days ago and I'm HOOKED. You are incredible! I'm going to Southeast asia this coming June for 3-5 months and I'm a little overwhelmed with where to start because there are SO many details to plan out. Little things like where you keep your backpacks when you're out and about to what do you book in advance and HOW in advance etc. I've backpacked hawaii and south korea but those were very short trips so planning didn't take much effort. Help please?!
+Karl Watson: Travel Documentaries Thank you for replying! How long did the actual "planning" take? I don't plan to do many of those "tours" you did like the kiwi experience (especially not in southeast asia).
Just stumbled upon your channel recently when looking up some travel vloggers etc and really love your content, looking forward to seeing more and any tips are much appreciated so will be keeping an eye out and have subscribed! Going to be doing loads of travelling myself shortly and will be filming my adventures :D
Great advice. Second that: from traveling 2.5 years so far, better to actually book places in advance if you can: saves time, money and energy... simple! :-) Defo recommend making more videos... and turning it into a business, selling something or coaching people to do this just like you have!
Omg sorry for leaving so many comments all over your videos, but I've binged watched them all cause I miss travelling sooo much, which leads me to a question you maybe could make a video about if you want: how do you beat the so called post travel depression? When you get home, and after the excitement of seeing your friends and family is over? When you're a year into uni and you still spend 80 % of your freetime looking up flights and scrolling FB and seeing all your travel friends scattered around the world and you're stuck in snowy scandinavia? Not that I wanna quit uni, I enjoy it and I want to have a good job some day, but I just miss the backpacker lifestyle. It's really hard to save up money as a uni student with rent, food, books and so on. And I don't have time to travel. How do you deal with that? I find it hard sometimes coping. Travelling is my crack I swear haha.
The last thing I want is a party hostel, I always read reviews and any mention of noise, its a deal breaker. I also book private rooms for myself, I prefer my own space and bathroom!
I'm the same...I really don't like the idea of a party hostel and have never even stayed in one because i assume it won't suit my introverted personality. Are private rooms way more expensive?
Request: can you, please, prepare some tip(s) regarding your packages: have you had real backpack or just ordinary "tourist" luggage? And what you've been doing with all your stuff while enjoying the adventures??
yogyakarta indonesia the cheapest city on earth for backpackers. In this city you can visit borobudur temple the biggest buddhist temple in the world. in here you can also visit many white sand beaches and volcanic mountain. food is very cheap here, you can only pay 1 USD and get rice & fried chicken. homestay starts from 8 usd for 1 night. yogyakarta is the cheapest city where you can start your travelling journey in indonesia.
Another concern is: the money exchange? Is it worth it to prepare some local money before the trip or it's better to use bank card (if so - which one you'd recommend) ?? Many thanks, and sorry: if you've answered my questions already, had no time to check all your videos ;-)
How about some tips about dealing with different currencies when moving from county to country! I'm off to India October and just in the process of working out where to go from there etc. U have inspired me so much Karl I'm going completely out of my comfort zone 😨😨😨😨😨
Just wondering, how big of a suitcase/bag do you usually bring on your backpacking trips? And when you fly, (for example from Costa Rica to Los Angeles) do you check a bag?
When you book a bus trip through Kiwi experience. You can also buy add-ons on their website. Is it necessary to buy it directly, or you can pay it on the spot? How does it work, do not want to miss anything.
Do you know how to get back into working and normal daily routine after your trip? I only went for a month to Thailand and Cambodia and I became so low when I got back home.
Your vids are awesome! I start my travels in under 7 weeks and can't wait! It beats my shitty 9 to 5 job!Although slightly nervous as going it alone. If you book via the Hostelworld app does it charge in £'s and avoid bank currency fees or will it charge in local currency? Any suggestions on what to pack? Going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Bali and New Zealand for a total of 5 months, may extend and decide to do Australia and Nepal as well (money allowing). Where would the best place to be for Christmas/new year in New Zealand? Can't wait to see more of your adventures, they have been a great help already! Sorry for all the questions
***** Thank you! :) I have a Ziwi Experience bus pass so will try and make it down there by then my flight gets to Auckland on 1st December so should be enough time. I've got most of the stuff already then, my backpack is 70 litres with 15 litre day pack so hopefully enough space if I pack light, just need to decide whether to buy an ordinary camera or a go pro, what would you recommend? (I plan on doing a lot of activities). Also where would you keep your electronics and valuables if you were on a boat trip, rafting or some other activity, would you leave some of them at the hostel or take it all with you in your day pack? Again sorry for all the questions, just can't wait to get going now!You should definitely have your own TV show!
Hey ***** How do you go backpacking so often? I know that you quit your job and went on the 9 month adventure but where did you get the money for all of the other adventures? And Me and 2 other friends and thinking about backpacking across Asia ourselves any idea how much money it would cost us each? Just an estimate would help. Thanks again Love the videos ^_^
***** Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah i've always wanted to see Australia, just a little hesitant to take the first plunge going somewhere that will eat deep into my savings ... lol. Is 10 grand enough to last awhile there? Especially if im looking to work as well?
+Karl Watson: Travel Documentaries Hi, I was wondering how you exchange money for a new country. Do you exchange money in UK before your trip or do you exchange when you get to the new place via bank? Practically pounds is used only in the UK so...would love a bit of feedback. Thank you.
hey men I was just curious how much in total did you spend on your travel in hk2ny since i plan to do a trip like this myself im at part 7 right now awesome series btw keep on rocking dude\m/
So you must have stayed in many many different hostels, have you ever had any problems with bed bugs or any other kind of gross creatures? That is the only thing that worries me a little about them. Thanks!
I'm planning a 6 month trip to south east Asia for 6 months going from Hong Kong to New Zealand, roughly how much do you reckon would be a good amount of money to have? I've done a bit of budgeting myself and got a figure of £6000 - £10,000
Hi there! After checking your videos, Me and my friend become motivated to making our own backpacking trip. We planned on being gone three months. During those 3 months we leat a trip to New Zealand and Australia and perhaps Indonesia. But there are some things I want to know, and hope you can answer. What budget do you think we need ?, all said different so it is difficult to determine. What months were you in New Zealand and Australia.? And it is difficult to backpacking in Asia?
+Karl Watson: Travel Documentaries thanks for the advise. I'm going to New Zealand in febuary for a study semester abroad so I'm gonna do some of the things I saw u do, then when I finish uni ( in like 3 years), I'm gonna do a tour round the world. Ur videos are a major help and inspiration
Keep posting!!! Your video quality is amazing, this could have been part of a tv show !!
I love this channel to the moon and back. Your travel documentaries are so good I have watched some multiple times! All your Q&A videos are on point!!! You know your shit
I really appreciated this. The thing I loved most was you got straight to the point. Thank you.
Why is this channel not more popular? If I had the means, I'd at LEAST put you on a low budget TV travel channel! :)
Of course the community will grow...look at all the comments! :D no doubt this channel is amazing. But also at one point it would become hard to do what he does...and this is answering all freekin comments! :D well done!

Hi karl. Any chance you could do a little video on visa details / requirements? Cheers mate
When will the Canadian trip movie come? Great video btw!
Gone past the age where I want "fun hostels" - I prefer hotels. First thing I check is whether they have internet access

Cheers for that Karl ..will wait for that....by the way what camera did you use for HK2NY?
Amazing Quality!
There was a hostel you stayed in a couple of times in Kathmandu that looked really good. What was the name of it?
Your tipps are great.
You helped ne a lot👍🏻

Kate Porter It depends on what you can afford, they're about double or a little more, but worth the price to have your own space and bathroom!
Great stuff mate, keep it up :-)
Really helpful, cheers!
