When I worked as a physical-therapy aide, my first job out of high school, I would perform what was called chest PT on a university student, probably not even twenty, with cystic fibriosis. Chest PT essentially amounts, or amounted if it's no longer practiced, to slapping the mucus out of the lungs. This kid, whose name was Chris, was the sweetest person in the world -- and smart and funny and cool. I wasn't aware, being eighteen and knowing almost nothing about cystic fibriosis, that he was unlikely to make it to forty, until it was explained to me one of the physical therapists. It crushed me then and I feel a little ache every time every time I think of Chris -- I'm sure he's long gone. I'm so glad this guy -- Kevin -- got a new lease on life. Goodspeed -- and here's to you, Chris.
his sister died in 2015 from CF. Then that guy with new lungs died in 2020 from an unexplained infection in his lungs, and April of 2021, his brother Michael who was recording this, died in a car accident. Their poor parents.
A you tuber, Asha Sharron, had CF and lupus and died while waiting for her lungs. She was 30 yrs old. I wish this was her story as well. She is sorely missed. Fly high Asha.💛💛💛.
