Thanks, this is what I do: Pick a song, or part of a song, head to the bands website to buy tabs. Listen to the song over and over to help memorise it. Slow the song down to 50% to start learning note for note, sometimes I will change positioning of notes to better suit my hands (Its great if they have a playthrough video you can watch for finger selection in the tricky parts.) Practice hours and hours increasing speed and building muscle memory (everyday) so you have to think very little about the riffs. I find the more I think about it the more likely I am to stuff up or forget what's next. Hope that helps, and good luck.
