    Thanks a ton for this tutorial. Whenever I do decide to pick this guy up, I know where to find a tutorial. Thanks to Hector too, has one of the best quality collections out there. Love his joker

      That's great! And yes, Hector really has one of the best quality collections out there. He's very particular about details, so I often turn to him for ideas and advice on improving my own figures.

    Did my (neck/cape) mod today while watching this video. Went pretty well. Thx for sharing this video tutorial. It looks like a new figure to me.

      Awesome! I did this video in hopes to help folks out with the mod or at least give them some ideas or inspiration to do something similar. I felt the same way about the end result of my mod. I liked the figure at first, but I absolutely loved it so much more afterwards!

      Well, if you like the results and final look of the figure after the mod, take your time and try it for yourself. The video will always be here for your reference, so watch it as many times as you need before jumping in. And of course, the Tony Mei cape is a must..! ;)

      I'm really glad this video is proving very useful to many collectors, especially those with an eye for more movie accurate details in their figures. I just hope when they decide to attempt this mod, this video will help things go as smoothly as possible. I love how mine is now and I can't stop staring at it..! ;)

    Thank you so much for this video! After seeing the entire process im confident enough I can pull this off easily. I am just waiting for tony to finish his wired cape! Also GREAT idea on the chest hair part lol.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад +2

      I'm curious to also see Tony's wired cape. But for now I love the looks of a naturally draped cape that has a better color and quality than the stock cape that also just hangs very realistically. Lowering the neck line also helps make the neck appear longer and is more accurate to the film look too! Good luck with your mods..! Chest hair mods to come later...! LOL..! ;p

    wooow big respect to Hector and you Marlo for making this video.....i'm not so much of a Superman fan that i feel the urge to modify mine but it definitely looks better and more movie accurate.....it's just fantastic what the customizers do, the courage just to try out.....2 thumbs up

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад +1

      This video definitely isn't for everybody, but for those that might want to try this or were wondering about how to do it, I really hope this video will be very helpful! It looks a bit scary taking things apart like that, but the end results are awesome! I love my MOS figure so much more now that it has that customized touch making it more movie accurate and different from all the stock figures out there!

      Fantastic! Even if you don't do the full mod, just Tony's cape alone will help improve the look of the figure a great deal. Just the color, the way it hangs, and the quality are there in Tony's cape. ;)

  • @CammysCoach
    @CammysCoach 10 лет назад +2

    Amazing custom for the MMS 200!! When I saw this I did react how most would when the collar got taken off lmao, but this custom is a big big change. Awesome work, but I'm gonna keep mine the way it is because I'm not a customizer.

    Awesome job, and great tutorial. The MOS looks fantastic and more movie accurate with the mod and cape. As for me I'm to "scary Mary" to attempt this on my one and only MOS fig lol. I may attempt this in the near future by purchasing another fig and the wired cape. But for now I will admire others. Thx for sharing, peace....NBC

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      The cape alone is a big upgrade, so it's great you're at least picking up the wired cape! The mod just makes it look more movie accurate and realistic as it lowers the bulk in the traps and drops the collar line which makes the neck look longer too. This video will be here for everyone if you decide to make the mods yourself. If you preferred, ShortRound could do it as a commission if you contact him on Facebook.

      Thanks, Curtis! I'm glad to tutorial came out okay was we were just wining it! I should've done a bit more of a comparison in the beginning, like a before and after thing, but at least you can see the two side by side in the opening to see the differences. I should have pointed them all out though. The 89 cape was a must and I just got one for my 1/4 scale Neca 89 Batman as well!

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      I think I always sound nervous, but to be honest I was fighting a loss of voice and cough as I was coming down with something at the time. Also, I knew the process involved making holes/ ripping the suit a bit, so I was hoping to find a way to avoid that as I know many others would feel the same and decide against doing this kind of mod. I only cared about the final result, so it didn't bother me too much at all, but I know it would bother many others. Still, it was great just doing this with my buddy Hector and showing folks how it's done!

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Thanks, Swamp Yack! I agree it really does look so much better! The rips don't bother me so much as they are all covered by the cape anyways. You'll never really know they're there unless you lift the cape back to look for it. On display I just love how it look so much more with the neck appearing longer and the collar area being more movie accurate now. Of course the cape does wonders too!

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Oh man..! Yeah, that was something that scared me when I originally heard about the mod, so this video was done to hopefully show others that that step was not really necessary. Hopefully you were able to sew him back up okay and your end result still came out great!

  • @sparkstron73
    @sparkstron73 10 лет назад

    Looks alot better flicking back and forth, before and after the neck looks longer and more in proportion. Clippers mod also looks good but neither should be necessary, hot toys not paying attention to the details again. Most people won’t try the mod for fear of messing up and or devaluing the figure, understandably. Glad yours worked out good. Gunna mod the gauntlets?

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Yeah, I should've reviewed the two figures before we got started showing the differences between the two, but you can still just see them for yourself at the beginning of the video. The modded version had a neck that looks longer as you mentioned and the collar area is more movie accurate. The cape also does wonders to make this figure so much more realistic! If done successfully, I think collectors would actually pay more for something like this. I don't think I'll bother with the guantlets. At least for now..! ;)

  • @1madzilla
    @1madzilla 10 лет назад

    hi. thanks for this tutorial. but is removing the collar absolutely necessary? for my figure i just want to swap the cape. not remove the collar. what would the result be of keeping the collar on? thanks im a noob.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Well, the cape alone is a big improvement as Tony's cape has a better color and quality, so it hangs more naturally. Removing the collar improves the look in terms on making it more movie accurate and realistic but allowing you to lower the collar, thus creating the illusion of a longer neck and bringing it down to the S shield on his chest more like the way it is in the movie also. The collar also has a bulk to it around the traps, which also doesn't look very natural as it's a bit too thick in that area otherwise. Just little subtle changes that add up to a more realistic and movie accurate looking figure. If you don't care about all that and just want a nicer cape, then the other mods are not necessary.

  • @ascend73
    @ascend73 4 года назад

    Sorry to go off topic, but what is the size of the neck on this figure, is it the same as headsculpts with the necks attached.?

  • @Silrian777
    @Silrian777 10 лет назад

    Is it necessary to remove the entire undercollar to attach tony mei's cape with pins? Or can the pins push through it? Because I don't think I'm gonna dare to do the collar mod. This is gonna be my 2nd 1/6 and I'm definitely one clumsy fuck, so just for that small detail I don't feel like going through all of this I think.
    But the new cape is a must for me. The double fabric factory cape is blegh.

    • @Silrian777
      @Silrian777 10 лет назад

      Also, from what I can tell, I think a blowdryer would do more harm than have good, because you'd heat the suit too and I think the suit would tear much more easily further down from the modded section if you heat it, so unless you can heat extremely precise I wouldn't risk that I think.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Silrian777
      Getting Tony's cape alone is a huge improvement as it will hang more naturally and the color matches better to the suit and what you see in the movie. The rest of the collar mod only helps drop the should thickness down making the neck appear longer and more natural while also bringing the S shield up the way it looks in the movie. You don't need to do this if you just want to install the cape and not do the rest of the mods.

    • @Silrian777
      @Silrian777 10 лет назад

      Ah cheers man! Good to know. Although your tutorial is so solid I think I'm gonna eventually try the whole shebang.

      Yeah, you can use the original cape, but it won't hang as naturally as the custom cape, and of course the color will not be as nice a match as with the custom cape either. The original cape may also have a tiny bit more bulk around the traps area compared to the custom cape which lays a bit flatter.

    The Cape Mod makes it look better but there are still so many Inaccuracies, I'm pretty sure we won't get a 2.0. Version so it is what it is. I think the could have done a better Paint Job, make the Suit more Reflective along with the Symbol. I still have mine today though, it's a Nice Figure but not Great...this Headsculpt though is still my Fave
    Cheers

    hello friend emarae want to make a query that type of material is the layer of man of steel? nose if it is silk or lycra thanks friend amarae

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      I'm sorry, but I don't really know what the material is as I just bought it from Tony Mei. I don't think it's silk, but it has the weight of a silk piece. I think it would be more of a lycra material. Maybe you can contact Tony Mei for more answers. I put his contact info in my video description.

    • @MarlotheCollector

      I don't know the fabric used as I did not make the cape. But it feels like a silk like material as it's a bit heavy.

    I found out that gap between the symbol and the cooler is supposed to be like that. From the movie photos I've seen.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      If you see the movie or photos, there is little to no gap between the collar and the symbol. Also, the neck line is lower to give the neck a longer look as in the film also.

  • @andy83382901
    @andy83382901 10 лет назад +3

    While I like what you did. I'm leaving mine has is. It's worth more if it's left has is, straight from the factory. My opinion anyway.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад +1

      It's all a matter of opinion like you said. You'd be surprised how many people would pay so much more for a more movie accurate customized version like this over a regular stock figure. When it comes to 1/6 collecting, many collectors want as much movie accuracy as possible.

    • @andy83382901
      @andy83382901 10 лет назад +1

      That's probably true, I've been collecting many Hot Toys characters like Iron Man, mark 7; Thor from the Avengers; Jor-el from Man of Steel; Christopher Reeve's Superman and now Henry Cavill's Man of Steel. It's a matter of opinion, but after watching the video. I feel if I were too resell my Superman, with the refurbished cape, buyers would say that the collectible has been disfigured, and want their money back.

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Andy Randall Well, of course I wouldn't sell it without the buyer knowing it was a customized piece. If you sell it right pointing out the upgrades, it will typically get the attention of collectors and sell for more. The cape alone is an upgrade with a $50 value.

    • @andy83382901
      @andy83382901 10 лет назад

      Agreed; there are some earlier features presented that I liked. Like the various capes for Michael Keaton's Batman. Where basically you'd pop the head off and replace the cape without having to cut or glue anything. It's just me i suppose. I like my Man of Steel has is.

    Can this mod be done with the stock cape?

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Sure, the mod is maining to lower the neck/ collar line and bring it down closer to the chest shield. After that, you can still use the stock cape, but as nice as it is, it doesn't compare to Tony's cape which is a more movie accurate color red, and it is of a nicer quality material that is heavier and hangs more naturally from the shoulders, etc.

      It is a bit of work, but it's not too bad. Maybe not for a beginner, but at least for customizers/ hobbyist with at least a little bit of experience. As you mentioned and could see in the results, it makes a really big difference in making him more screen accurate and more realistic.

    seems like a delicate process not for most lol. why was the mei cape not wired? seems like a missed opportunity cuz that's seems to be the only downfall of the stock one

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад +2

      Well, not everyone likes the wired cape look, so he went for the naturally hanging and more color accurate cape for now. He is in the process of making a wired cape for those interested, but I like the more realistic looks of the regular cape and how it hangs freely. And you're right, this process is not for everyone, but if you're willing to give it a shot, hopefully this video will help a lot! ;)

    • @MarlotheCollector
      @MarlotheCollector  10 лет назад

      Why would you say the figure is no good? The figure displays so much better and is more movie accurate now. Collectors with an eye for these details would agree and there wouldn't be so many doing this type of mod if they didn't agree. A modded figure like this would easily sell for $100 more in the collector's world.

    • @Norlistapes7
      @Norlistapes7 10 лет назад

      Because for one the suit is torn,secondly to me its like a car that loses value once you drive it off the lot,and on top of that the purchaser makes custom alterations to devalue it even more,that's just me you don't correct the artist's vision because after it won't be his vision, like i said before to each his own...
