Hey boss, I’m kind of being a consultant on a job at the lake here in Big Sandy. I shared your video with a client that is going to be adding on to their home very soon. This video definitely helps me to explain (in detail) what a mini-split is and the multiple options. Great video and hopefully they will be doing business with you in the near future!
Thank you, I will definitely watch the upcoming videos. Have you ever installed mini-splits in a home with a flat concrete ICF roof? The ICF has a built-in chase for running electric and HVAC but the chase is small and only runs in one direction. We would have to cut the forms laterally before the roof is poured to accommodate ductwork for a traditional system and I think even for the refrigerant lines and drain lines for mini-split zones. We are trying to find the most efficient and cost-effective solution. Also, because the house will be so air tight we also need some sort of makeup air system that will need ductwork as well. Wow, what an undertaking. We are in Southwest Florida if you want to come down for a vacation and install our HVAC!!
If it was cost effective for you then I can definitely come down there and install your hvac I would be coming to Orlando in November for a vacation for a week
I am a general contractor. I installed 3 of these systems, with one of them in my own home. Every one had a defect right out of the box. Had to take Samsung to the California Department of Consumer Affairs in order to get warranty parts for my own unit. The local distributor went out of business because of all the problems with these units. For the best results buy a LG, Mitsubishi or Fujitsu.
Not many new HVAC technicians know the Samsung brand should stick to TV's only. Their washers and Dryers fail, their refrigerators are rated the worst in the industry, so what makes you believe that the inverter technology is better in their AC equipment?
That would be awesome. We are owner/builder on our project and the HVAC is my biggest concern. We are building on Pine Island near Cape Coral. Best fishing on the west coast of Florida if you're into that kind of thing.

I was wondering what applications other then a drop ceiling are cassettes more beneficial then a wall mount? Or when should they be used over a wall mount.?In a residential setting new construction or existing. Thanks
Buying a 220 may envolve some rewiring issue's but once done, it's no longer an expense. A 220 though more expensive to purchase originally, will cost considerably less to operate over the same period of a 110. In addition, I would recomend purchasing one that is a minimum of a one ton larger than one figures utilizing a number of charts and graph's available. It due to the size will be cheaper in the long duration of owning it, then one a ton less. Following my own advice, my 140 meter single floor home in Mazatlan has three minisplits. Two of which are a ton and a half and one of which is a one ton. They are all on timer's that vary from one another. The one in the living room a ton and a half and the one in my game room a one ton with all doors open. Keep the entire house cool starting at 0600 and ending at 1800 ten month's of the year. Our personal bedroom has a ton and a half, which because it actually too large for the room, we keep it set considerably higher than the other two settings and it works from 1800 until 0600 every day for ten month's a year. They are all 220, and my month bill's are less than my neighbor's whom all have less devices which are 110. Not to mention in the ten year's they've been installed, except for cleaning once a year by a professional, I do the cleaning of the filter's every couple of months. They are still the same devices, and show no sign of needing replacement, while all my neighbor have had to replace theirs at least once. Thus if you plan to reside in the home and no desire to flip it. I'd purchase 220's and a half to one ton larger per each installed. Gonna flip it, who cares, put in the 110's.
Not it wont.won't.. the difference in efficiency will be literally pennies a year. Please explain to me why you think running a ac on 240v is going to save you so much money vs 120v? You seem to be confused because it really won't matter at all.
Great video. Super informative. Thank you! Do you have any videos with pricing of these types of mini splits and I'm curious with how long they last? Also maybe a video of comparing using Mnii Splits vs using the typical HVAC vent? Last question I can think of, is using mini splits (using the different types) good for a larger home 2500 sq. ft + instead of using the typical HVAC? Clearly the mini splits have come a long way and I like the idea of it replacing the typical HVAC system, so people can regulate each room to their liking.
Well done video as always. We are trying to figure out how to do the HVAC in the home that we are building. The walls and roof will be ICF so running ductwork is a major undertaking. Hello sir. I own a martial art school and the lobby area gets cold in winter and hot in summers,i wanted to order a 3 ton unit to heat the lobby and keep cool in summer .Could your recommend a good 48000 btu unit if possible?
GREAT VIDEO! So I’ve had a mini split unit installed into my garage twice in the last 12 years. The first one lasted 6 years and was pretty decent the second not so much. My garage is 600 square feet and isn’t insulated. I was told i had the strongest BTUS A MINI SPLIT CAN HAVE. My question is: can you suggest which one your oppinion most likely will work. Best for the space to provide cold air when it’s 102 degrees outside because it hasn’t really been feeling. Cool enough.
Hello from the high desert of New Mexico USA 🇺🇸. I am looking for two mini split AC to install in my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus that I live in full-time, What is the most energy efficient 120 volt mini split AC?
For the bus I'd probably get a single zone Wall mount Mounted on one end to blow down the whole way Or One of the 4 way cassettes and and take the 2 loopers and disconnect them and have the 2 livers to blow 1 down 1 side of the transit bus and the other to blow down the other side
Do not use that information. You need to do an accurate load calculation and see what the manufacturer blower capacity is. That is a "rough guide" but can get you in trouble.

Yits pretty easy they have a external overload ,a potential realy. They have no service port so you can plug it in if the evaporater doesn't frost completely your low on charge
You know what would be really cool (pun intended). An exterior mini that flex ducts (similar to dryer flex vent duct) supply and return to a plexi-glass window insert. Drawing 120 ac from an existing indoor outlet. Great for non-permanent self-installs.
they make them. I have a customer who has something like that. He plugs it in, runs the lines which are super flexible and uses it during construction or whatever. I have no idea where he got this thing- but its small like 9000 or 12000---but runs on regular 120V. You can buy 120V units up to 1ton---I've installed lots of them.

On a Samsung 2.0 my customer says he sets a set temperature and unit never stops running. Its getting to the point where we going with a different brand. Any suggestions?
Indoor fan and cooling never shuts off Indoor fan and heating should shut off unless it's overheating if it is there's a code you can put in to make it shut off
They are a very expensive unit and a window or through the wall is a lot cheaper option. Better warranty and longer life for those too. That cabin system would either be heating or cooling that large crawl space since the ductwork is not insulated!
The duck work was insulated We build square metal duct and insulate on the inside the electric bill is 60 dollars for that cabin each month now 12 year parts warranty 10 year labor warranty job cost was 6k
You can't be serious. You clearly have zero idea what benefits you get from a mini split vs. a window unit. Not only do they have better cooling ability, but they also can cool up to 2x the space for the same electricity as a window unit. Mini splits are very, very efficient with their inverter compressors not to mention the noise level is a fraction of what a "window shaker" is. Window units are temporary and look trashy. The benefits go on and on. You will save way more money over time vs a window unit.
I would like to see the amp draw on the different BTU rated systems 9,000 then 12,000 and the 18,500 and 24,000 btu unit I have solar panels and like to see starting. current ( amperage ) draw and running current draw ( amps ) Then show a regular type of window unit and 24,000 to 36,000 central units and there starting current and running current. with outside temps in low 90 F and holding a set point of 70 deg F. Lots of Solar panel system owners are going the route of mini splits because of being more efficient as well as much lower starting amperage draw as well as lower over all power usage.
Hey Kelly you're right a lot of people with solar panels are considering many splits because of the soft start for all the motors All the motors are 3 phase Single phase power in and then there is 3 phase outdoor motors and 3 phase rotary compressors
There are some really efficient units out there. Look for the EER rating not the SEER rating. The EER rating will tell you how many btus of cooling it will do per watt. A 14 EER unit will do 14btus/ watt. That means a 12,000btu unit will pull 857w or 3.6amps @240v. There is MASSIVE variation on mini split efficiency per unit! Some can use up to 50%+ more power than another at the same cooling capacity!
What do you mean by limited? You wouldn't really want more than 18k coming from a single zone unless you are trying to cool a massive open area like a shop or garage.
uh they make them in different sizes. 9000, 12000, 18000 and one brand 24000. Thats it. So you are right- they are limited but for a room what more do you need? I dont understand what you are talking about limited.

You should change the name of this video to " What is the best Samsung Mini Split to choose?" You are not offering people any info on other models in comparison. Obviously, you are subsidized by Samsung, and I am not saying anything bad about them, just that your title is misleading.
The reason that you see a lot of Samsung units it's because I don't have a training lab full of any other type of Mini split I would do a video with other Mini splits but I just don't Have other mini splits to do a video of Also no other manufacturer of Ductless equipment has the options that Samsung has Thank you for your comment I really appreciate you watching you watching I'll try to do show videos of different types types/brands
Duct in the crawl space should have been wrapped with insulation unless duct was insulated inside even if pre existing... Also floor registers should have been under or near the windows instead of middle of the floor to dissipate the potential air leakage and temperature change of the windows.. Return not a good idea on the floor...IF it had been new constitution that is....
I want to remove all the under house duct work and handler. Mice make nest inside the unit and leave an odor. I would want a four station system all floor models, the house is small under 900 square feet I believe when I get back up there this summer I will measure rooms. The kitchen has one wall where one floor unit can go, the bedroom one can go under the east window, the living room has a west window where the third floor unit can go and the closed in windowed porch on the south wall I can find a place where to put the forth unit. I want all pipes under the house I only want one opening going outside where the original compressor is now. When all this ac installation is finished I can seal the ground under the house. A one ton unit is probably big enough for the four stations I believe the house is 25 by 26 counting the front porch. I may be wrong. 73
Thanks I may start with two stations one in the living room and one in the bedroom the kitchen is open to the living room, that should get me started I know the front porch will need a unit if someone sleeps there but right now the main house needs to be done I'm hoping I won't have to buy a dehumidifier for the house but when no one is up there, do I want to run the system unattended with storms and such like? 73

A 14 EER unit will do 14btus/ watt. That means a 12,000btu unit will pull 857w or 3.6amps @240v. There is MASSIVE variation on mini split efficiency per unit! Some can use up to 50%+ more power than another at the same cooling capacity!
The floor console is very limited due to its capacity. I believe it is 18k .
yes that is right. only goes up to 18k
Where can I buy these mini splits?
Here is a Contractor locator so you can find your nearest dealer for Samsung equipment just by typing in your zip code. www.samsunghvac.com/locator?ecrzip=38320
or I can send you a unit if you want to go through me I can help you size the unit and guide you or your installer on the install.

@@TaddyDigest I have a cold side contractor. These units seem to be better quality than others. I’m trying to cool the area in my cafe kitchen where cooks work. The vent hoods overtake the AC. So I was thinking a split unit could add additional cooling for this location in the kitchen. 24000 btu or similar.
Very good
If you need help sizing
Let me know I have a sizing guide I can send you
Its only $2

You should change the name of this video to " What is the best Samsung Mini Split to choose?"
You are not offering people any info on other models in comparison. Obviously, you are subsidized by Samsung, and I am not saying anything bad about them, just that your title is misleading.
The reason that you see a lot of Samsung units it's because I don't have a training lab full of any other type of Mini split
I would do a video with other Mini splits but I just don't Have other mini splits to do a video of
Also no other manufacturer of Ductless equipment has the options that Samsung has
Thank you for your comment I really appreciate you watching you watching I'll try to do show videos of different types types/brands
He's showing the different styles of minisplit air handlers.... not different brands. Other brands have the same air handlers so brand is irrelevant.
I agree
that duct system was installed in 1988 though
Ptrap?
How can we avoid the ugly piping on the outside of the house?
Line Hide Cover and Rough In Box
@@TaddyDigest Unfortunately I think the line Hide covers are almost as bad as the lines.
Then there's no help for you I'm sorry I still love you

Awesome Pete thank you for subscribing my friend
