      Nice video that reminds me of a year when I was so broke that I could barely pay my bills. I remember the most important step in my life when I invested my last income with an experienced Forex trader who was recommended to me by a friend. It was a bit difficult for me to do then, but it took courage to know that investing was the right thing to do at the time.

    Thanks for the video. Always been interested in Heikin Ashi and the SAR-never thought of putting them together. When I look at a strategy I always go and find the worst price action I can on a chart and see how it stacks up. I particularly like how this keeps you out of a number of bad trades (not all of course). Just had a look at it over a few timeframes and it looks really good! Between the HA and SAR (So we can call it the HASAR strategy??? 😁) we can get a good idea of what the trend is doing. I also like how it gets you an entry AS the momentum is increasing (usually anyway). I'm going to add it to my backtesting and test the crap out of it on the 4hr. Then I'll try on a Demo if it's checks out. Thanks again!

      Thanks! It is a pullback buy strategy, so you can check if there is a support level near your entry it can boost. Also you can try to combine it with the RSI, but unfortunately I haven't tested it yet.

    Fantastic video, thank you for doing the test. Over what period of time did you take the 50 trades (was it more than two months worth of data) and did you trade every signal, or did you only trade the signals you would have taken during your personal trading hours?

    Greetings, and thank you for a great video. I see a problem in that Heiken Ashi candles do not show the real price 🤔 how then set the SL? According to Parabolic SAR for Heiken Ashi candles or normal candles showing real price? Can you help me?

    • @TradingJournal1
      @TradingJournal1  3 года назад +5

      Great point! Yes, Heikin Ashi represents the price differently. You should use limit order and your trade&stop-loss should be based on Heikin Ashi price. And you should be careful if the difference between the real price and your entry is big. Sorry, I forgot to mention it!

    There is discrepancy between the R:R of the backtested Heiken Ashi candle closes vs the regular candle close which the order would be placed. A 2R win in the backtest for a isolated trade may actually only be 1.3R in reality for example. The regular candles generally close higher (for a long) than the backtested entries therefore deeming the results inaccurate? Not to mention the affects on your position size calculation before entering the trade.

  • @danzi333

    I’m pretty sure you’ve missed something here.....with heiken ashi candles you can’t see where the price closed. It’s not at the top/bottom of the full bodied part of the candle, it could be in the wick section. Therefore making this results potentially a little off.

    • @kerryriordan8662

      HA can be placed below the chart so it does not obscure the price

    Nice strategy! Would this work better if you did 1:1 ratio? You should look into a 3rd confirmation for this strategy, seems to have more potential! Better than most indicator strategies!!! I’ll do some back testing on different pairs to see if there are better pairs to use this on. Thank you!

    • @TradingJournal1

      Yes, it can work better with 3rd confirmation. I never trade with risk/reward ratio less than 1.5, so I haven't tested it. Glad you enjoyed it!

    I used this strategy this morning, trading the ESM21 using the 5 min chart. Worked like a champ with a 2:1 RR. It works great on a 15 Min as well. On the entry candle I wait for a pullback to trade below the entry price, and wait for price to come back and trade thru the entry price. Maybe a little less draw down. Thoughts?

      You can find many entries with this strategy, if you scan many markets! As you see, I use 5 minutes candles for this strategy, lower timeframe allows for many entries.

    I would like to ask a question. When you lose or win a trade your capital changes so the losing money and the winning money. How do you end up with a %38 profit? I mean if you lose 7 times in a row that means your capital is reduced by a lot to even that out you should maybe win 5 times

    • @TradingJournal1
      @TradingJournal1  3 года назад +3

      Yes, you are totally right! Actually, the answer depends on your way of backtesting. There are 2 ways: if you don't use compounding, it doesn't make any difference. You are assuming that you are trading with the same size(for ex. 1000$ each trade). Another way, you use compounding, so when you are on a losing streak you lose less on each trade, but when you are in a winning streak you win bigger on each trade(for ex. 1000$, 1050$ 1100$). It depends on which type of trader if you use it or not. I used compounding for 2 years to grow my account regularly. And I use the same trading size on each of my trades now.
