This is catchy not in the way modern pop songs are, but in the way that older songs are. Their lack of chemistry ties in well with the story of the song ,Its all a fantasy in her head. The idea of her lover reciprocating the love she shows him, her own imagination cant even construct. Carly in her own imagination can imagine herself in a shiny dress because that's not implausible, but the façade starts showing with the obvious set background of this 'nirvana' and the nail in the coffin being the complete lack of chemistry between them, particularly on his end. I've never pay a lot of attention to Carly 's music before but with this song i felt a click into her music and discography. This song especially has that joyful yet melancholy tone that I really love, their voices together and music video is so artistically beautiful ❤️. And Finally, I hope that she has the recognition that she deserves .✨
Same! Maybe it was because of Call Me Maybe but I mistakenly pegged her as a one hit wonder kind of popstar. Party for One and Cut to the Feeling really proved me wrong, though and I've been a supporter since then.
This is a perfect song for a Broadway musical. The visuals remind me of a stage performance. That spoken word bridge is the perfect send off prior to intermission.
the way she replicates silent films in the beginning and maintains that aesthetic throughout is making me feral!!! i love old Hollywood and she not only incorporated that into the music video but she also added a modern twist to it! I'm obsessed. i love her. this is so important to me.
Everything about this is perfection. The music, Rufus, Carly, the references to A Trip to the Moon (1902)--this is my favorite dance song of the moment.
The fact that this song has Rufus and the music video for it is one big reference to A Trip To The Moon (1902) 😭❤ Carly is the Queen of Giving Me Everything I Want!!!!
This is giving me Gloria Gaynor, Barry White, ABBA, Donna Summer, Daft Punk, Kylie Minogue, 70's Cher, Diana Ross, and Earth Wind and Fire vibes. I can't believe how underrated this undesputedly timeless inspired song. This deserves not just recognition, but also appreciation. 👏👏👏👏
the guy who did the set design is a regular at my job! i saw him drawing in his notebook as he usually does and asked what he was working on and it was actually the rough draft for this video! cool to see the final outcome!! i remember seeing the draft with the city buildings in the background, the moon, and the rocketship and i told him it reminded me of that one smashing pumpkins video. he said yeah like that except more high school prom-like 😂 i get it now.

I love this video so much. The overall silent film style backdrops, the mix of silent era and 70s disco style. The way their voices sound together. Everything is fantastic.
“Let’s save sorry for another night” is probably my favorite lyric in this song. Like, “you’ve hurt me, but right now I just miss you and need you. We’ll sort the whole thing out later.”
just watched twice and CARLY YOU MADE ME CRY!!!! This is easily the mv of the year imo... the theatrical vibes and I SEE YOU remaking the way old music videos used to be and the way the artists from the 70's and 80's used to act in their mvs. This is phenomenal and im not even mentioning the fact that this is YOUR BEST SONG ever.. you topped yourself with this one. The outro is SO spiritual and sad and beautiful at the same time, im still processing this song since it came out. Thank you so SO much and i LOVE YOU like REALLY

THIS IS CAMP. THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF CAMP. SHE'S GIVING US BROADWAY SPACE QUEEN AND I LIVE FOR IT
This is like, extremely high quality Pop music
I love the chaotic energy the stars are giving ✨✨✨

I've never pay a lot of attention to Carly 's music before but with this song i felt a click into her music and discography. This song especially has that joyful yet melancholy tone that I really love, their voices together and music video is so artistically beautiful ❤️. And Finally, I hope that she has the recognition that she deserves .✨
I’m so excited for you to discover more of her stuff!!! Don’t skip the B-Sides, Dedicated Side B is my favorite album of hers
Omg!, Thank you!. I'm sure I'll check them out 💖
Arghhhhhhhh ...I love this song..same hereee
I am convinced the last verse where they harmonize is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard!!
Same! It's my favorite part of the song.
Same here. I get a little emotional every single time.
She has an angelic purity in her voice, not sure if it’s the right word but it’s so lovely to listen to.
Thank you, Carly for continuously saving the pop music industry. You deserve more recognition. 🥺
the way she replicates silent films in the beginning and maintains that aesthetic throughout is making me feral!!! i love old Hollywood and she not only incorporated that into the music video but she also added a modern twist to it! I'm obsessed. i love her. this is so important to me.
The composition is insane, so many changes during the music length. This is very rare and special for a pop music
I think so too, it's like a whole album in one song.
this song was and is so special to me.
How is this song so catchy. It's always in my head like: I'm coming back, I'M COMING BACK TO YOU!
Rufus does the best jazzy lil harmonies on this, it's so lovely to the ear.
I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. She's great.
Queen of MASTERPIECES! Love you Carly, you're the brightest star! 🌟
I got huge DP vibes from that portion near the end
If you like 2:51 by the way I would recommend DANCE by Justice!
IMO it's the goat of pop songs, can't be denied lol
All the wardrobe was on point, props to the costuming on this video
'''Hello Congratulations''' I've got a special gift for you, Feel free to Hit me up to claim your gift.. Thanks for the love and support'''
the guy who did the set design is a regular at my job! i saw him drawing in his notebook as he usually does and asked what he was working on and it was actually the rough draft for this video! cool to see the final outcome!!
i remember seeing the draft with the city buildings in the background, the moon, and the rocketship and i told him it reminded me of that one smashing pumpkins video. he said yeah like that except more high school prom-like 😂 i get it now.
Very nice, the vibes on the video were immaculate, give them props for me (pun intended)
easily one of the best songs to come out this year!!! this fantastic music video is another cherry on top for carly. so excited for the full album huhu
I like say she she by prism
Their voices complement each other beautifully
2:50 BEST PART
Rufus's acting in this is honestly incredible
their voices are so unique yet so fitting for each other
I came here for Rufus, ( who looks and sounds amazing as always ). And now I have a new appreciation for Carly thanks to this song! What a sweet video. 💖
Their harmonies are fire. So satisfying. Love it!
This song ..I will always treasure and Rufus!! awkwardly beautiful.. so Camp :)
The world is a much brighter place with Carly’s music
This song doesn't deserve this number of views. This song is so underrated. This is like my comfort song 🥹🥹🥹
I can’t believe Carly has invented the concept of duets. Inventive queen!
No, she invented the concept of pop music. Genre-breaking goddess
just watched twice and CARLY YOU MADE ME CRY!!!!
OMG, Carly this is a masterpiece ❤
Everytime that part at 1:18 comes on I get the good memories from back when this album dropped
*as someone who loves nostalgic songs, this song's automatically added to my playlist. THE INSTRUMENTALS IS JUST SO SO GOOD THAT I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT PROPERLY.* 😭
do you have a youtube playlist for these?
share your playlist:)
I didn't want the song to end!!! What a combo - Rufus deep soulful voice balancing Carly's tone perfectly. Swoon!
I dunno.... But this song somehow feels nostalgic for me. I don't even know what I'm nostalgic about.
It feels like time up until social media took off in the 2010s
It totally does look & feel nostalgic ✨
Love it
Right?
There’s a word for that! It’s called “Saudade”. Usually, humans make words for things as a shortcut for needing to use them all the time, which means you’re not alone in this feeling!
It’s a late 70’s Blondie type vibe
I love this song completely, probably one of the few guilty pleasures I truly have 😅
How is no one talking about Carly’s music and videos? She slays, every single time 😭💖✨
Every. Single. Time.
Not all of us have good taste in music.
We are here talking about it right now !
@@Tonellacam yesss
Instant classic. Wow. Carly is an unappreciated genius, that breakdown with the gorgeous violins, my god!
i am obsessed with this song. the retro vibes. their vocals. the music video. AND CARLY RAE JEPSEN
GORGEOUS! She blew my mind. She is the real deal!
2:52 til the end is absolutely sensational especially when they start to harmonize at 3:21 I legit start crying every time. oh my goodness. Outstanding.
Canadian music production at its finest. Really took me back to old much music videos, def has that vibe
This. THIS. THIS! MUST! WIN! GRAMMY!! AT LEAST ONE. ONE! Y'all better not sleep on her!!! SHE KEPT SLAYING Y'ALL KEPT SLEEPING
I love Rufus Wainwright, always have, his voice is perfect with Carly’s, I absolutely love this song & can’t listen to it enough!!
i love how this is her signature sound honestly it’s a nostalgic vibe with a very present sound
