I must have watched this video a hundred times and it still hits me in the feels. I honestly believe that Concorde is the most beautiful machine mankind has ever made and the closest human embodiment of nature we have managed to produce. I love her and miss her, she needs to return to the air.

To me the Concorde represents engineering perfection. Concorde is simply stunning, the most beautiful thing ever created. We may have SST again soon but nothing shall replace the place in my heart that belongs to Concorde. It makes me proud to come from the same country as those who designed, built and flew this wonderful machine. I often go to Manchester airport and sit looking at her for hours and hours admiring her beauty. Dam those responsible for its retirement.

the skies will never be the same again without her, flying on her made me feel like an astronaut wearing a t-shirt, and that'll probably be the closest i have been to space, when you takeoff you get that adrenaline pumping and wow you can't believe it, you are actually trying to image the ground but you get dizzy and once at 60k feet the plane just hangs there motinless and it is a majestic sight, i want to fly on her again if she comes back

Concorde, though designed in the 50s and 60s, was still very technologically advanced when it exited services in 2003. That was a remarkable achievement. It was a shame that it had to be taken out of services. It must have been a pleasure just to look at it flying in person.

100% agree!!! Spitfire and Concorde are the two most beautiful aircraf ever built.

The most beautiful aircraft ever constructed, it's very special that only British Airways and Air France, two great airlines, were the exclusive users of Concorde. Even though it has been grounded since 2003 it's still a great source of pride for Britain and France. Hopefully there will be a last minute push to get Concorde flying again for a London 2012 Olympic ceremonial flypast, one of the few ways for us to top the extravagence of Beijing!!!

Thank you England

Concorde was so beautiful. She was the first aircraft to have Electronic throttle controls, along with Fly-by-wire technology even tho it used conventional dials in the flight deck. She has also clocked more supersonic hours than ALL of the world's airforces

...so sad it retired. I saw it for the first time in 1974 at Miami International Airport and finally flew it on Sunday, April 13, 2003 from NYC/CDG. It was an incredible journey - never to be repeated again - at least not in our lifetime.

What a beautiful big bird...was so exciting to see the Concorde land in Oklahoma City in the 70s. I was a teenager, and my brother and me went to the airport to see it. People were lining the streets trying to photograph it. This was back when you didn't have to go through security and could actually access the gate and look out the window at it. I miss those days, and I miss the Concorde. Gorgeous design. Not practical, but gorgeous design nonetheless.

there are so many Concorde's just sitting there ready for supersonic flight and the public wanting to ride her! Anyone who works for BA must have a deep spot saying who cares about the economics let it fly! The public would buy tickets by there 1000's if it came back, the queen and world leaders hundreds of businessmen and stars would go and her and it would truly make the world a smaller and happier place.
Whoever the person was who said lets retire Concorde please take those words back PLEASE

This is true to an extent. Singapore Airlines shared a concorde with British Airways on the service between London Heathrow and Singapore via Bahrain in the late 1970s. Only one side was painted in Singapore Airlines' colours and only operated three times. Sorry to burst the bubble.

Now that, my friend, is an absoloute awesome idea. People think that we wont be able to better the Beijing Opening Ceremony, if we used Concorde, we would simple blow their efforts away ! There is 2 Concordes in this coutry now that are still maintained on a regular basis as if they still fly, the fuel cells have been removed so they cannot start engines, surely we will see her fly again, maybe only once...lokk at the Vulcan for example, they said that would never fly again !

I was astonished by (what it seemed to be) rush to turn all Concordes into museum artefacts.
I am not a UK taxpayer but since the BA got them for free and the cost to develop Concorde was like 20 billion GBP in today's money, Virgin certainly should have been given at least a chance to run them or keep 1 or 2 flying for special occasions - even at the cost of cannibalizing the rest of the fleet. Branson would be exactly the type of enterpreneur for such thing.

Old technologies have made it inefficient and airlines have expressively told aircraft makers they prefer low costs over speed. Plus, opposition in the U.S. over SST (super-sonic transport) due to noise issues have put a huge damper on future production. If we were to go faster than current aircraft, it would have to be quieter and efficient for it to pass in general.

In the news it was said that the French have kept 1 of their Concordes. They are keeping it in good condition and working out some plans to improve it and make it fly again. But theirs a problem. They cannot find an airline, government or rich person which will fund the millions needed for improvements for Concorde and make it fly again. So at the moment it looks like Concorde won't fly again.

Yes I heard about that. There was some petition posted on the 10 Downing Street website vehemently opposed to such a confused PC doctrine. Around 35,000 people signed it (including me!) and the official response was that the Government weren't opposed to the idea. In fact the potential of such a proposal was celebrated. Hopefully not just media fodder & their pledge of support is genuine!

It is believed that if Paris was to have the 2012 Olympic Games. An Air France Concorde along with the La Patrouille de France would have opened and closed the Olympic Cermoney with a flypast.
It is also believed That Airbus and Air France technictians are keeping F-WTSB in flyable condition, in the event that Air France considers a one off event such as the Olympics.

Indeed. A shame that these sorts of topics devolve into shouting matches over geography and politics... The Concorde was a fine aircraft, albeit one borrowing on supersonics pioneered in America. We ourselves didn't follow through on a supersonic passenger jet not because we couldn't, but because we foresaw the market headed in a different direction, a reality that has proven itself undoubtedly many times over. Cheers still to the Concorde; I love the aircaft and wish it was still here...:o)
