- In this video I talk about the Versus mode, a geometry dash 2.21 feature that has been misunderstood by many people. Also there are some cool levels and memes. I hope you'll enjoy it!

I don't blame RobTop for delaying versus mode, because not only is it complicated to make, it's gonna be extremely complicated to meet community expectations
I’m all for letting Rob work on a feature more but his description of Versus mode sounds extremely basic. GD is already capable of sending scores to the servers and shouldn’t require much work to make comparing random runs possible. And unlike SFX which were added late, Versus mode has been planned for a long time. Either the feature was supposed to be way more, there’s more to the current one than we know or he was being dishonest about working on it
And to setup servers for it I think

RobTop has said in the past that live multiplayer wasn’t going to be apart of versus mode, so my expectations weren’t at that level

The quote isn’t even complete with certain scenarios so I don’t see any point you are trying to reach other than saying “oH but I DOn’T give any FUcKs”
1:52 If the dude who made this is here, you need to use event triggers for the orb moving. It detects the keyboard inputs basically, instead of player position.That way it registers immediately after tapping the arrow keys and you can spam it to cycle faster too.

Me still having trouble with easy star levels. reason: visually impared. Still having fun. Also: I hope there will be an option in the future too change the colour of coin completions so I can easier see if I have collected some coins or not.
When I beat the level it didn't feel real, I thought for a second I just had a really good practice run

it seems the only thing really limiting robtop is not knowing how to code live multiplayer. so maybe one day verses mode would actually be updated to have live multiplayer when he learns how to do it, furthermore, he probably needs more money to help maintain the servers.
id say we should wait and see how long 2.21 and 2.3 takes, and if robtop learned his lesson to not make updates this large, i think it's more likely that robtop might try and figure it out in his spare time.
i expect this in the far future though, probably in 2.4 or 2.5.
also, i believe verses mode is gonna be in 2.3 because it says "it has been delayed" instead of "coming in 2.21"

i thinking keeping versus mode more casual and non competitive is a good thing
I was actually imaginating that the versus mode was gonna be as simple as seeing the percentage on the top left corner(so that it doesn't distract you)of the person/s that you are playing with and that it's gonna be like some tournament, 'cause some people might win the level with you and there would be more than 1 winner, like wtf XD(lets say other person finishes the level and you too but not other 4 or idk)and so that the winner can be decided another level it's gonna be played(and obviously levels can be randomized, it could be in a list too, like a list of levels so that if two or more players win, it moves on to the next level or a random one(it would be an option to randomize of course), and of course that whoever get the higher percentage wins, lets say you play with your friend and in the list it's avernus(ik it's kinda troll XD)but lets say you get 2% and your friend 1%, so you win, by 1% XD, or even decimals XD(if you have the decimal percentage on), anyways I really thought of it as simple but coooooool, like it's waay next level than 2.2 XD, and OMG imagine playing a platformer level against someone😮😮😮, that's gonna be so cooooooool!😃
I think you will fight against a player ghost, but maybe if robtop adds a server support, the community could make dedicated servers to play in real time

1:50 I had an idea like this for a non-platformer level where every time P2 clicks, every orb in the level changes according to the loops below:
Yellow > pink > red > yellow
Blue > green > purple/spider > blue
Black > dash > pink dash > black (this one is a bit weird though)
Even if versus mode just starts as a room where you can play with/against friends, as Robtop builds a development team it can serve as a baseline for a true ranked multiplayer mode

Ithink it's more like a race to beat it...for example if you create an active race tournament whenever someone beats the level they'll be rewarded with massive amount of diamonds,orbs, demon key icons and etc.

Multiplayer levels could have another "extra" object property in the edit group tab, called "Server side". This is useful if you want all players to experience the level equally. This creates an opportunity for team work games.
I haven't watched the video yet, but before I watch it, I'm gonna say what I thought the Versus mode was the moment I saw it:
More than 2 people selected by a host, whoever reaches the end first wins, if someone is first place, there is still a chance they will die and restart the level, and if that happens, they may lose, so even losers can win
The first thing you do when you beat a demon is CLOSE THE GAME

Rob has already said that you wont be able to see other players in versus mode before. I think he said it about 1-2 years ago, dont know when versus mode was announced tho.
The thing is the most of the content in 2.2 could have individually be it's own full update. Versus mode is one of the updates, it won't be 7 years but it'll still be some time

My expectation for versus mode is that it will release in 2.3 and you can search any level and you wait until another random player joins your level and it can be up to 10 players versusing (word i made up that means multiple people verse eachother) eachother but people can see over peoples cubes and the first person who completes the level wins and also you can invite your friends to also versus you

I am very excited for geometry dash versus mode
My guess versus is just going to be a 1v1 or something like that and basically the player who's going to beat the level/list first wins. Players will have to download the music, sound effects and levels before the game starts (the game will make sure they will) so that the time of finish won't be dependent on one's internet speed. Also, you will probably get like a notification " finished the level in " that looks like achievements' window. Didn't really have any high expectations, just hope the community won't get overhyped too much and then get frustrated over nothing.

Imagine bloodbath versus mode
I think versus mode would work like this:
Choose the lobby size, then you create a match, match may start automatically or not. After that, you both race to go to the finish line first to win, but all players have a limited amount of lives. Last one loses.
This is just a speculation and may not be accurate.
I mean, not seeing other players live is understandable since if one of the players died they wouldn't see each other anyway so adding that feature is unreasonable
I actually didn't think the versus was going to happen. Until 2.2 came out with the Versus mode grayed out.

I never really cared too much for the vs mode, I mean if you want to show others how good you are at the game you either star grind, demon grind, or beat unimaginably hard levels on the demon or challenge list, the only thing that interests me is how platformer Versus works, and if there is somehow a kind of coop that may be added in a later update
Of course he wouldn't make it live, do you know how hard it would be able to see your character in the midst of 5000 people?
I mean... I didn't expect much more from the versus mode than that. All I ever wanted to do was to just... select a map and play it with a friend or two, like Osu!.
maybe even better if they made versus mode for platformer but act like its a multiplayer so people can interact with each other
I always expected versus mode to be something like osu!'s multiplayer, playing a level with friends or random people and the one who beats it first or with the least anount of deaths "wins" or something like that
I was kinda hoping that there would be a ranked mode for versus mode, but I'm sure it'll still be very enjoyable
I can imagine versus mode to be like this: you and a friend are each dropped into your own editor. you’re limited to primitive blocks, no triggers, and you have to design a challenge in under 5 minutes, then verify your own challenges, then the versus part is that you have to beat your opponent’s challenge before the time runs out.

Robtop can still improve Versus mode with time. For example, i hope there's a system to play 2-players levels in Versus mode (P1,P2 for duals) these small things could be for 2.3.

My idea for Versus mode is similar to Mario kart's ghost races were you have to beat the other persons best time.
This is my theory :
I think that versus mode is gonna be a platformer race and the top 3 players to finish will win some goodies :D
What i also theorise is that you can make your own race with a feature i theorise is gonna be party.
This is how I think it will work:
Party mode will be a mode where you can make your own race.
You can pick whatever platformer you can pick and invite anyone.

how i see robtop doesn't wanna make the versus mode act as a whole different gamemode. adding ranks or other stuff would make it a lot more different than usual gd gameplay, more like some battle royale.
he probably just plans to make it as a competitive gamemode for friends
I think it should atleast make everyone sees each others progress it should be easy just show the progress for all you opponents
