Arsenio really had the best show back in his time...His line-up of guests reads like a "Who's Who" in the entertainment business, plus he had Bill Clinton as a guest, before he became president, to boot...Sammy was a fantastic interviewee and has the best stories, because he has experienced so much throughout his life and career...His guest appearance on The Cosby Show was very memorable...Had he not smoked, did drugs and drank as much as he did, he would've lived way past 65 years of age.

  • @SDSFG45

...and he 'checked out' almost a year, to the date of this show, later. I consider him a genius...one of entertainment's TRUE geniuses. And he was actually way ahead of his time, because he was ELITE in several skills (dance, singing, impressions, acting and hosting his own show). The public also seems to forget how much of an excellent tap dancer, he was. The World wont see another Sammy Davis Jr. But for him, we wouldnt have accepted Michael Jackson or someone like a Gregory Hines.

Sammy is great, so honest about the stuff he did, he doesn't give all the usual celebrity hogwash about how " I had to do drugs, it was forced down our throats" etc etc.
He tells the truth, he did it because he wanted to do it, to get high, none of this "I've got an addictive personality, and people around kept saying, try this try that"
Just god damn honest truth, the man deserves respect and not for just being a great all round entertainer, but for admitting and accepting when he did stupid stuff it was his own fault, nobody elses.
He mentions in another interview about not spending much time with his kids because he was more interested in being up on stage and entertaining fans and making money, he already had more than enough money age 30 to just sit back and live the rest of his life in luxury.
He admitted he has a few regrets, but didn't try to put the blame on other's for his mistakes.
Very rare for a celebrity to not blame agents, doctors, everyone around them when things go wrong, but to man up and say " it was my own fault, I chose to do it
