I found you less than a month ago, and have since binged nearly all of your content on this channel. Just amazing, overall. 100%, 10/10, five stars, etc. Your channel is a fantastic, quality production. Tremendous appreciation and support!!!
Suggestion: Use the other subway line at the airport for an express train that goes straight to a few high-demand locations that offer transfers. in order to take some weight off the main line. as a passenger with a specific destination i would much prefer to take a direct route if possible. it would make sense for the airport! The line could follow parallel to the other line and dip in/out of the main line at a few stations it should probably directly connect to both of the E/W lines so the grand central and the stadium
You don't need additional stations to connect Gombe to the university; you can continue from Gombe, loop around and reconnect at the existing University station, and put a line connecting the two stations.
You may consider replacing the double-roundabout interchange with something like an SPUI. That was the only significant traffic jam I saw. Love the series!
That or a diverging diamond which I think is better. But that would make the parkway into a defacto highway --- which CPP replaced with the parkway already.
@@edwardmiessner6502 I think diverging diamonds are harder to do in vanilla? Then again SPUIs are reliant on timed traffic lights which also don’t exist in vanilla, but I’m sure there are approximations of either.
Great episode!! To help with the subway line exchanges I know there are some assets on the workshop that have two routes attached to one station! Maybe it’ll help! Always look forward to new episodes
After we deal with the transportation in the existing infrastructure, I think it would be fitting to see some expansion either on the other side of the river or more inland crossing the existing highway as some sort of suburbs or smaller semi-independent edge neighbourhood
Just remove a few more of those parallel bus lines and really engage with the local circulator concept and I wouldn't be surprised to see the traffic get into the 90% territory :)

Man when I saw the park during the "party line" bit, it really hit me how much has happened and how far the city has gone! I remember when that part of the city was just wilderness on this and you making that park.
I think in real city terms, that Monorail line/ride from the airport, along Sunset, central station, Hamilton Exp. and the beach, how the corridor, looks ... it's world class.
You make my day every time you upload a new video. I have been through a hard exam period at the university and these videos are perfect for relaxing and winding down.
"... make sure that every square inch of land that was not landscaped could indeed have a tree planted on it" god I love you Phil out here single-handedly solving climate changing by putting firewood everywhere, ironically enough loved the transit fix as well, it's so interesting to see how multiple means of transportation mix and match together
4:10. I was just thinking about this the other day. I think it'd be kind of cool to simply delete the first and last piece of a subway line to replicate real life. When a real city decommissions a line they simply wall it off or fill in a section. Kind of cool to come across videos of abandoned lines or tunnels. It'd be cool if the new Cities Skylines allowed users to convert subway tunnels to car or pedestrian tunnels.
I know a big part of Verde Beach is that it's a vanilla build, but man at times like this I miss mods. There are so many good transit assets with multiple lines in different configurations that would have worked so well in today's episode.
I totally agree on the noise pollution point. I used to live pretty much directly above the Boylston T stop in Boston, and for those of you who know that stop you know it sounds like what I imagine two jet liners scraping against each other during take off would sound like, and I got used to it real fast.
Looking at the thumbnail after watching the video, I think you can extend the Party line all the way to the airport. It would make it so some people wouldn't need to transfer and may take pressure off of the Sunset line.
This and the Monorail were the most satisfying episodes especially after the railway 3 parter. This was amazing, non railway transit episodes are a blast
1. Founders Park is a tourist spot. I think having a subway station near that would increase the number of visitors to the park, can be connected to the sunset line as it covers the tourism district. There's one whole district ready to be zoned right beside the double roundabout. Thus increasing the revenue for the city. It also has great connectivity thus achieving higher land costs.
I think it'd be a wonderful idea to have a metro express line going from the Airport. Either check to see where most of the sims are getting off on the current line, or just run it straight to/from the Train Station to the Airport. I'd bet it would cut down on your overall use of vehicles on that line and speed everything up. That 1 monorail line had 12 vehicles on it, it looked like 3 or 4 more than are actually needed.
You should use the dual platform metro stations, from the content creator pack, where you have more than one line. This will stop trains backing up waiting to get in.
I lived in Chicago for a bit where the blue train line was directly in my backyard. 1 minute walk. Never heard the train from my apartment. I hope that cim realizes how great it is having an underground train below your apartment
'The party line' should continue to the airport to alleviate the load on sunsetline. It would get people to different part of the city and to the trainstation. It would be a great line for the turists to use!!
So, you increased the amount of vehicles on every metro line seperatly. It might be more cost efficient to bump up the total metro budget a bit (which also adjusts the amount of vehicles on each line) and then tweak the remaining busier lines seperatly again.
I'm so impressed with this city. 86% traffic flow in a 100K pop city without traffic manager is amazing. Actually, I didn't even know that was possible!
I think an express line from the airport to the central station would be a marvelous idea from a tourists perspective. Bypassing all those stops on the regular line would shave so much time off the commute to and from the airport. Plus all the employees of the airport would probably love being able to take a subway directly to work.
Love the metro fix! Been doing the same in my cities. One thing, from the new train/metro pack the sunken stations are really useful for connecting multiple lines instead of two basic stations next to each other like you're doing. They take a little more eminent domain, but that's just a synonym for a mulligan!
I think I saw a building that burned down in founders park. I think there’s an option that allows you to see destroyed buildings easier as well in the overlay menu.
Phil should have a series similar to Biffa's Fix your city, where Phil increases the city's flammability by adding more landscapings. He can also put the pipes under the roads where they belong, and teach the city to respect the topography.
I love these kinds of videos. Land scape architect simulator is fine but these kind of like systemic changes are fun to watch. Especially when we see the end result of how much efficiency was improved
Just wow... 85-86% traffic flow in vanilla, that's just insane! There should be a special achievement for that, as this stat will never go over 87% even on an empty map with traffic mods.
Been waiting for this episode for so long, I love the transit episodes. They have something of a tycoon game vibe, really satisfying. Great video as usual!
Just wanted to leave this here[not sure if Myrtle already had lore]: Myrtle Lewis Anthony was the first woman elected to head the Verde Beach Transit Board back in 2001. She served on the board for six years[2001-2007], she made it her mission that every citizen, and visitor of Verde Beach could be within a 10 minute walk to any form of city transit. Against all the hurdles thrown her way by male politicians of the time, she gave the city the best transit network she could. Opening the Lewis tram line in 2004. After her term on the board ended, she went on to serve on the city's newly made Environmental Protection Board, over-seeing any new transit planning in the city, to ensure it doesn't negatively affect the greenest beach city. She served there for another 2 yrs, however she sadly passed away due to unforeseen medical issues. It is now folklore amongst citizens that if you harm any plant on any city owned land, Myrtle's spirit will haunt you for the rest of your natural life.
What a treat - thanks Phil! Simply couldn't stop laughing at those 1300+ poor residents queuing up at the Airport station... Also pretty sure there are bunch of neat and compact two-line metro hubs in the new DLC that can perhaps help mitigate the transfer issue though?
Great video, and instructive! 👏👏👏👍🙂 A few things though: 1. You need a cross at the Vine Street Sunset Boulevard Stations. 2. Eliminate interlining for maximum capacity. 3. Express and local tracks for the Sunset Line, the express track can use the Airport Cross. 4. Extend the main industrial boulevard into the I-10 Industrial Park 5. Feel free to develop the Verde Beach Parkway Corridor (that used to be freeway)
Just a small reorganisation of the subway then CP? Love it! I was wondering about the underground stations and whether they behave anything like the overland rail stations, where you can attach footpaths to the "non-roadside" entrances. Can you attach subterranean footpaths to underground metro stations? If you can then you can link the close-by stations that way. Oh, don't forget to replace the tram line out to Lewis Lumber with that bus line you mentioned... need to keep the company onside with the city council! Love the wee nod from Myrtle in the final city tour...
Can you show us bike ridership too? It's in the pause menu in statistics. When I'm looking at my cities, I like to look at public transit and cycling together to get an idea of car trips saved!
The Stockholm Metro is planning to connect one of the green line’s branches to the blue line. Since the blue line is farther under ground, they’ll have to demoilish a section of the green line which is currently over ground, including a couple of stations (which will be replaced with an underground station). Keep in mind that the current overground route is in the way of construction projects in a pretty central area, so it was a smart move anyways. Btw, it’s the branch going to ”Hagsätra”, if you wanna look it up. The expansion project is called ”Nya tunnelbanan” in Swedish (or ”The new metro” in English using my own on the spit translation.)
This episode really shows the limitations of the subway system. There should be cross stations, hub stations (like 3 parallel lines), and even like Y style endpoint stations. I would even like to see pedestrian tunnel connections so you could link a vertical and horizontal station, if you doddnt want to use a cross station. Hopefully CS2 will introduce more options.
I've always felt like it would be super easy to extend the subway down past the stadium and to where the tram station is? felt like a good spot for at least a connection if not a mini-hub. Connecting that top purple line to the top of the green line in the thumbnail. which, honestly, a subway line that went from the airport straight across the ocean to the hamilton experience and then maybe the college? I think that'd be a great use of the other end. Great network overall though and I love the thumbnail too, it's a lot of fun.
I don't know about in the US, but much of the European transit ethos is based around "more options = better" so I wouldn't say those two train stations going between the same places as covered by the metro in that particular instance is a problem.
There is nothing more satisfying in CS than a well-utilized mass transit system

Noise pollution is a serious problem. I wish city planners took it more seriously (some places they do, others they don't) I think that's actually one of the most realistic aspects of the game.
Perfect timing, I was looking for something to watch! 😊
Edit: great video, enjoyed watching it.
same
Me too
Hey Phil,
Between your voice, the editing of your videos, the quality of commentary and insights that you provide, the generous length of your videos, the dedication to your work in these different series, the excellent background music from which I've gotten some awesome songs, and your ability to somehow do exactly what I tell the screen to do nearly all of the time, your channel has rapidly become one of my absolute favorites!!! I can't tell you how much I thoroughly enjoy watching and rewatching your videos. The Verde Beach series is the best one, in my opinion. I found you less than a month ago, and have since binged nearly all of your content on this channel.
Just amazing, overall. 100%, 10/10, five stars, etc. Your channel is a fantastic, quality production. Tremendous appreciation and support!!!
Just finished Lee's park episode from yesterday, time for a seamless transition into more cities:skylines. Cause it's a transit episode! *badum tss*
Another series somewhere i can watch you say 😶😶😶
Suggestion: Use the other subway line at the airport for an express train that goes straight to a few high-demand locations that offer transfers. in order to take some weight off the main line. as a passenger with a specific destination i would much prefer to take a direct route if possible. it would make sense for the airport!
The line could follow parallel to the other line and dip in/out of the main line at a few stations
it should probably directly connect to both of the E/W lines so the grand central and the stadium
I think it might be worth having an express line that goes like airport-central station-stadium
Going to do this!
@@CityPlannerPlays Hey cool :)
Oh, man, another Tuesday with a GREAT episode of VB and funny enough without any major fire hahahaha. Anyway, great episode yet again Phil
Won't work. This is a vanilla build
@@aussiejjdude3066 oh snap I keep forgetting that 😂😂
After we deal with the transportation in the existing infrastructure, I think it would be fitting to see some expansion either on the other side of the river or more inland crossing the existing highway as some sort of suburbs or smaller semi-independent edge neighbourhood
That's the plan!
Just remove a few more of those parallel bus lines and really engage with the local circulator concept and I wouldn't be surprised to see the traffic get into the 90% territory :)
I'd look at NYC or Boston subway systems, they cover metro zones and suburbs. Think of N/S and E/W as their own "lines" and branches off of that.
9:50 - Don't forget to zone where you removed the station.
24:10 - Could you make a loop between the University stop and the Gombe District (might look a little hokey), or do a N/S route between the two like you did earlier in the episode? HAHA - I typed this out before you started discussing the N/S idea and used "hokey" and now I'm seriously laughing.
33:05 - Was waiting for you to notice the airport number :)
36:20 - You could maybe consider breaking the line up into a couple smaller segments where they can transfer?
53:52 - Nicccccccccccce.
"We think we had a fire in there sometime ago, so I'm just gonna add some more fuel for it."
😂😂😂
You are always able to bring a smile to my face, I thank you for that and you have done an awesome job with the metros and tram line... really appreciate your work there.
👍👍👍
I've been catching up on your videos, and I just gotta say: your accent gives me life. God bless the Midwest!
Trams have been my aim, now i have a push. Hell yeah City planner 🙌
You make my day every time you upload a new video.
I have been through a hard exam period at the university and these videos are perfect for relaxing and winding down.
I can watch Verde Beach all day. ❤️❤️
"... make sure that every square inch of land that was not landscaped could indeed have a tree planted on it"
god I love you
Phil out here single-handedly solving climate changing by putting firewood everywhere, ironically enough
loved the transit fix as well, it's so interesting to see how multiple means of transportation mix and match together
Should use that second airport line to just go express to the central hub. Only 2 stops get people moving and spending their money!
Enjoyed this transit focused episode! Great idea Phil
I am so so so happy you were able to fix the transit! Kudos!
The shape of your city reminds me of Rio de Janeiro. But Rio has more mountains. Keep up the good work. :-)
Perfect timing, finish work early for the England v Germany game… just over an hour to wait… city planner plays has a new verde beach episode 😎
Won't an underground/sunken interchange station make more sense than having sims walk to a different station altogether. Maybe the ones from new DLC?
or even have multiple lines serving the same station, it would be both a lot cheaper and a lot easier for cims
I am so excited that I have finally caught up on all CPP episodes. This is my first "new" episode. I feel like it's a real accomplishment!
Nice to see Old VB again in this episode! Seems like a logical place for a monument of some sort (statue?) honoring the founding families of the city.
This is a good idea but I don't think CPP wants the metro to come above ground.
47:55 Wish Water Street would reach the Fire Station. Would be a perfect fit. Cheers
I lived in Chicago for a bit where the blue train line was directly in my backyard. 1 minute walk. Never heard the train from my apartment. I hope that cim realizes how great it is having an underground train below your apartment
I'd buy a bumper sticker that said, "Appease Myrtle" with burning palms on either side...just sayin'.
Fantastic transit upgrade episode!
I had a horrible night honestly but waking up and seeeing that this video is out makes me feel so much better, perfect timing :)
Verde Beach cub scout groups earned their 'plant a tree' badges
'The party line' should continue to the airport to alleviate the load on sunsetline. It would get people to different part of the city and to the trainstation. It would be a great line for the turists to use!!
So, you increased the amount of vehicles on every metro line seperatly.
It might be more cost efficient to bump up the total metro budget a bit (which also adjusts the amount of vehicles on each line) and then tweak the remaining busier lines seperatly again.
I'm so impressed with this city. 86% traffic flow in a 100K pop city without traffic manager is amazing. Actually, I didn't even know that was possible!
Whenever I'm sick I always call the arborist!
The 10 people living in Pakrside have been wondering if they get neighbors for years now haha
I think an express line from the airport to the central station would be a marvelous idea from a tourists perspective. Bypassing all those stops on the regular line would shave so much time off the commute to and from the airport. Plus all the employees of the airport would probably love being able to take a subway directly to work.
Been away and just caught up with the last video and then this gem drops!
Ohhhhh, the great and glorious public transit episode! The prophecy foretold long ago has come to us at last!
Love the metro fix! Been doing the same in my cities. One thing, from the new train/metro pack the sunken stations are really useful for connecting multiple lines instead of two basic stations next to each other like you're doing. They take a little more eminent domain, but that's just a synonym for a mulligan!
I've been dreading the eventual overhaul of my own transit system, so this will be essential today. Thanks, CPP!
I think I saw a building that burned down in founders park. I think there’s an option that allows you to see destroyed buildings easier as well in the overlay menu.
I'll check it out!
Phil should have a series similar to Biffa's Fix your city, where Phil increases the city's flammability by adding more landscapings. He can also put the pipes under the roads where they belong, and teach the city to respect the topography.
Without adding stations, why not just add a loop between the two university stations
55:27 Thank you VBFD!
Been waiting for this episode for so long, I love the transit episodes. They have something of a tycoon game vibe, really satisfying. Great video as usual!
I like seeing my name fall down further and further in the patreon list! Means you are getting more supporters! You deserve it
Just wanted to leave this here[not sure if Myrtle already had lore]:
Myrtle Lewis Anthony was the first woman elected to head the Verde Beach Transit Board back in 2001.
“It’s difficult to get from outer area to outer area.”
Me: *cries in Queens/Brooklyn transit*
Transit fixes have been great but you've kept us in suspense for the National Park for so long
What a treat - thanks Phil! Simply couldn't stop laughing at those 1300+ poor residents queuing up at the Airport station... Also pretty sure there are bunch of neat and compact two-line metro hubs in the new DLC that can perhaps help mitigate the transfer issue though?
I’m glad that Cities Skylines is mapping well the NIMBY near that new subway station
Great video, and instructive! 👏👏👏👍🙂
A few things though:
1. You need a cross at the Vine Street Sunset Boulevard Stations.
2. Eliminate interlining for maximum capacity.
3. Express and local tracks for the Sunset Line, the express track can use the Airport Cross.
4. Extend the main industrial boulevard into the I-10 Industrial Park
5. Feel free to develop the Verde Beach Parkway Corridor (that used to be freeway)
Great video, just discovered your channel!
Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new about the game
I love reading the comments and the ideas .. amazing video as always
"we're gonna line this up with bass"
why do I have a picture in my mind of a subway platform filled with fish?
Can you show us bike ridership too? It's in the pause menu in statistics. When I'm looking at my cities, I like to look at public transit and cycling together to get an idea of car trips saved!
The revised transit network is so much more tidy and logical! I like it! Looks like Verdeans do too.
Love the transit builds, but Im ready to get back to some more residential/commercial development
We really need to see that direct airport link to the main railway station .
Damn bro! I was about to work but obviously verde beach is more important! Hahah
Cims: We're dying from noise pollution 🤒
CPP: 😎 Say no more 🌴🌴🌴
Was just about to say I was excited to see VB when you get it all landscaped after the upgrades from the past few episodes. It's gonna look great!
