“They’re just a little group “ WTF... R U kidding me? This “little group” were the pioneers of gangsta rap and changed the whole hip hop world as we know it today.
them plus public enemy and run dmc - they changed the style from 2livecrew, fat boys and grandmaster flash to another time
its a reaction video. prolly safe to assume they dont know about them...
These are tight and jean kids. Don’t know who Mc Ren is? The ruthless villain! They don’t have any hip hop groups close to even the geto boys, atcq, or 9 mc’s who could flow from the slums of shaolin. They only have wack migos today.
Your right pioneers. You gotta give it to Ice-T as well. He was at the start of it all as well.
Schoolly D was probably the true pioneer of Gangsta Rap
Wild that you mention Boyz n the Hood, since I remember when that movie came out, people were like, "Damn, that rapper can actually act!" and now y'all are like "Man, that actor can really rap!"
We old
Right!

IKR!
That made me feel so old.

"I'd like to go visit Compton", said no one ever.
i did. it's not so bad. just a lot of chain link fences and poor people. was during day though. and i'm indigenious, so kind of blended in
Meghan Markle fans
People were trying to get out not go there.
Now it's bompton
I did it, way back when, looking for Eazys grave. :)
Eazy had one of the most recognizable voices in the history of rap.
It match his height, not tryna be funny but it's actually really good
not true there are so many voices that are better like let’s give you wu tang clan which is the best rap group so your wrong
@@kenadcox9886 he didn't say Eazy had the best voice. He said the most recognizable. It's hard to argue that point.
@@kenadcox9886 rap groups are over rated. When they go off on there own they were not that good
Eazy's voice is freaking cool. Bottom line.
Boyz in the Hood was based off of life in Compton. NWA They was so revolutionary when they came out. The original West Coast Rappers.
They weren't the original West Coast Rappers, but the rest, absolutely.
Ice T, anyone?
Apologies - yes, there are/were others before them, but IMO, NWA really made West Coast rappers more popular mainstream.
NWA also has a song called Boyz in the Hood from the late 80s. The movie came out a few years later.
If you check out that song you should also check out the cover of it by Dynamite Hack. That version was a hit around 2000 or so.
@@kristensmith6042 100% agree with that.
If you were born in the 70's or early 80's your rap knowledge is like an encyclopedia compared to these youngsters. Too bad they can't understand the context but it is fun to watch them discover history.
@mat wilson I'm 14 and all I listen to is 90s rap I hate the trash mumble rap these days
@mat wilson look back you I didn't say all mumble rap is trash either. I don't like mumble rap but I do like some modern rap. And please never refer to me as a pea brain again. 🙂
@mat wilson?
Exactly. Trying to discover old stuff. Most youngsters cant be bothered

"he killed that" Of course he did, that's E. That's the coolest cat rapper who ever lived. eazy e will never be replaced
RIP E
Easy e was one of a kind .
Eazy is one of the best of all time. Love his voice.
Rest In Peace ez
Eazy E's voice is the definition of Gangsta Rap
Love E but he’s the reason NWA broke up
You guys don't understand the environment this song was released into, it was unlike anything we'd ever heard. Gangsta rap did not exist before NWA, what little rap did exist was very different. They'll go down in history as cultural visionaries.
"What little rap did exist?" In 1987? You don't really know rap and you definitely ain't a New Yorker 🤣
NWA was the first group from the West Coast...from outside the NYC (and Philly) area that actually was a hit. The rebelliousness of them cursing at seemingly every other word was shocking n those days. Their anger wasn't new to rap but openly talking about shooting cops was
@Melicious --- Huh??? Nah, Gangsta Rap started years before that. In-fact, Schooly D's "P.S.K - What Does It Mean" (Park Street Killers) from 1985 in Philly, is oftentimes noted as the original Gangsta Rap. And of course we have Just-Ice (from the Bronx, NY) and KRS-1.
But, 1985, Schooly D and his song "PSK - What Does It Mean" was the real start of gangsta rap. Oh, and Ice T was making gangsta rap before NWA became a thing.
I think they meant this is the first gangsta rap that really hit the mainstream. All those other groups were good and known in their cities and areas, but NWA was the first to get traction on MTV and elsewhere.
Ummmm, Ice-T, King-T, Kid Frost were rocking the "Gangsta" rap way before N.W.A......best brush up on your history dude.
@@fidel2xl yeah, but that was underground..i think nwa debut album sold 3mln records in a year..they were huge
When rap lyrics actually meant something and gangsters were trying to become artists while now artists are trying to act gangster
Y'all fellas got to realize when that came out there was nothing else anywhere like it at all the sound the lyrics the language was a shock to the system this album was groundbreaking and historical for all of Hip Hop and music and general
Straight facts
They don’t understand what was going on at the time or how Compton or even the west side was then. I was going to Venice high when this came out. We knew what was going on. NWA put it out in their music and it was noticed.
Those breakdowns between each member lyrics are ICONIC....

Ice cube has been the bomb for years. I remember going to see the movie "Friday" in the movies when it was first released in the 90s. We loved when Cube expanded from rapping to movies.

The city of Compton is in southern Los Angeles County and is overwhelmingly black and Latino. It’s considered one of the “roughest” areas of the county, and that helps explain why it was the birthplace of gangsta rap.
Not the birthplace - the first legit "gangsta rap" song was Schoolly D's "P.S.K.," and he's from Philly; Ice-T later did "6 in the Mornin'," which is probably the first L.A.-based gangsta rap song, and he was more from L.A. proper.

This is an extraordinary concept that I really enjoy watching. It's crazy to me that people have not heard certain music that was transcendent or wildly popular, but I do get it. Lol aww man I'm a white 50yr old from Wisconsin but 14ish yrs old when this dropped & it was the 1st time understood & fell in love with the power of music. NWA then was about (@least to me)inner strength, respect, standing up for yourself especially towards authority figures abusing tf outa the "power" they thought they had over everyday ppl. And BJ's lol. Begging my even whiter mother to buy it for me, playing Fukk the Police so she knew what to expect if she did, & her buying it for me still shocks me to this day. But even here, I walked out, boom box on my shoulder blasting this loud, proud & even more so when I'd see a cop walking my way lol. Cuz even my ass in cheese state got harassed, messed with & judged by cops who knew nothing nor a thing about me. I know I'm not the only person everywhere to of loved & had deep respect for these brothers from Compton. Was also another thing which showed me we are all more alike than we realize, wanna admit let alone accept & embrace. Tracks on this album to me are still some of the hardest vocals & beats that's been. And I also love Rock & Metal so says alot about alot. NWAfan4life
