Cops and police departments should care how they are perceived by the public because public trust is an essential component of policing. Misconduct makes both communities and cops less safe. If police depts were smart they would train their officers on how to handle auditors. One meeting, show some videos, and talk about what to do and say and what not to do and say. The fact that misconduct is worse than ever shows just how much they care about how they are perceived.

@rustyhighlander786 you are exactly right. That's how PA vs Mimms, Terry vs Ohio, qualified immunity and the other countless unconstitutional decisions SCOTUS made. If people actually read any of them they'd know pigs nowadays go far beyond their legal authority to use them as justification. I think Terry vs Ohio is the most abused.
