I'm thoroughly enjoying the journey Gary. I haven't started building anything as yet as I want to see firsthand what's in front of me. Cheers from Melbourne Australia.
Hi Gary from the Netherlands i follow your building activities.I like to thank you for sharing all the things you discover by building this model. Good luck and i look forward to see more videos. Pieter Nieuwpoort..
Netherlands, WOW. I been on this earth 65 years an almost all my friends live within 50 miles. I build a model and now I know people from all over the world. I am truly humbled. You-Tube showes 127 different countries that someone has watched one of my videos. Most people don't say where they are from so I like it when someone does. If I can draw 127 countries together by just building models, how much better off would the world be if we were all modelers. Instead of sending weapons to other countries how about sending models. I also collect postage stamps and thinking of starting another You-Tube channel on stamp collecting then trading with people from around the world. Thanks for watching.
Hi Gary. The hull looks great, cant see that this is your first time planking a hull, it's that good! Donnie is amazing in his work, I'm a frequent visitor to his page as I'm building the Trinidad myself at the moment, he started that build in dec 2008, so he's not in a hurry. Also I can see that someone else has referred you to model ship world, I highly recommend that you get an account there. There's always help to get. I got loads of help with my still ongoing victory build. The best plans I've seen was from Occre and the Billings Victory, however I mostly use plans as a reference as they usually aren't accurate or authentic. I mostly use others build logs and pictures of the real ship to make it as accurate as possible. Artesania Latina is also very good, especially with there plans over rigging. Keep up the good work Chris
Hi Chris... Thank's for the comment. I do not belong to any forums, mainly because I jump around on my builds. My next build will most likely be another Si-Fi model then another Battleship. But I always read forums to pick up on model builds, tips and any problems I may come across. It was the Model Ship Forum that lead me to buy the Modelshipways kit. Also I do a lot of research (photos and other builds) of any model I build. I have found the plans for this ship have a lot to be desired and like you, use them now only as a reference. I don't build for 100% accuracy but instead I build for what looks good to me. So if that means changing a little something because I think it looks better, then I change it. Now that may be unspoken of in the model world but I'm the one that has to look at the model everyday when finished. Besides most people that walk into my house and see the model probably never heard of the Bluenose. It is a shame that the model manufactures don't put as much time into there directions and plans as we do building them. I'm sure they test build a model before selling them. In part 15 coming up I ran into another problem on there plans and a part they laser cut wrong.
Burlington Ontario....Well I see I'm going to have to get me a world map and start putting pins in it. I guess it's time I tell people where I'm from. I live about 20 miles from Cincinnati, Ohio outside the city limits. We are not that far apart. Been through Canada years ago via Detroit and the Land of a Thousand Lakes on my way to Niagara. Love the country until we went into a restaurant for breakfest and everybody was speaking French. Makes you feel stupid when you have to draw a picture of what you want to eat. OH...did you know you eat bacon all wrong, it's supposed to be in long thin strips. Thanks for watching.
Yes, it can be anoying - most people speak english here- 10% French. We eat both kinds of bacon. Peameal bacon is nice for a change. My parents used to prepare it speacial on Christmas day - a treat. Your blue nose is looking great. I'm still working on the bounty getting ready for rigging. Your videos are fun to watch and very helpful Gary Brinker
