- Back to the magnificent Five Keys again for a later recording. Maryland Pierce and Rudy West recreate their original “call-and-response-echo” leads from their second recording during the Capitol Label years. It became a big national #5 R n ’B hit from early 1955. They are backed up by Ramon Loper (who replaced Dickie Smith), Ripley Ingram, and Rudy’s brother, Bernie. This clip is from the great revival concert at Burlington County in 1983. The Five Keys “set” of 11 songs performed there (You’ll hear many more later!) represents--to me--one of the very best documented performances of any 1950s R n’ B group.
Wowowowowowowow OMG That harmony. The bass and floating tenor! Loads of sound from the three in harmony!
None better! I learned to appreciate by listening to each separate! PIANO,singer on the song I'M ALONE. I'M A BIG FIVE KEYES FAN!
They are a class act😂
saw them at least 5 times, and this is the very best although, all were memorable. 5 keys doo wop at its best

Great. I hope you post "My Saddest Hour"
Thanks. Yes, that great song is on my list to upload.
Robert, For some reason Rudy did lead on "Saddest" on this show (instead of Maryland). It does change it quite a bit. I will still use it, but not until later on.
Count me as another vote for "My Saddest Hour"!! @@TCSguy
Amen❤
