As were the Haydn brothers. One of the choir's founding members dating back to the late 1400's/early 1500's is Ludwig Senfl. Franz Schubert's successor as choir soloist was Georg Helmesberger.

Nicely done, but as a choir director, I found that the boys (especially in such as well respected choir), were not paying attention, looking in different directions, looking at the ground, not looking at the director which all distracts from the performance. They did not seemed focused. But they sounded good.
I agree. Boys will be boys unless there's something to ground them. The fellow playing piano can't do 2 things at once, so is it possible to have to have a choir leader standing off to the side?

You may not know that the Vienna Boys' Choir has been around for a long time. One of its early pupils was a young man named Franz Schubert.
