Just a suggestion I have a larger ammo kit from Cabelas, which I carry a Esbit stove & stainless cup. I gotta have my morning coffee, awesome video, Thx
I made mine a couple years ago and when i did i went to the Dollar Tree and bought one of those little 3 led adhesive push activated lights and stuck it on one of the smallest side so when you're carrying the ammo can you can use it as a spot light at the same time
I like what you put in there. I just got a metal ammo can for my car in case of emergency. I like the metal can because even though its heavy I can use it to (hopefully) boil water in if I need to.
Nice Kit. What I notice when I watch peoples survival kit videos is that it's loaded up with nice high speed, low drag gear but lacks things like flares, whistles, mirrors. The whole goal of survival is to hold out until your rescued. Signaling gear should be like a fire kit, lots of redundancy.
Great survival kit. I carry a similar list of items in a small school backpack in my car. I need the extra kit space because I've set it up to be a three person/three day kit, as I often go day hiking with my two children. I just grab it out of the trunk whenever we get to a trail. It's also a nice comfort knowing it's there for the 'Just In Case' scenario. I've just come across your videos recently and I am quite impressed with your knowledge, and talent for sharing it so concisely. You have a new sub.
I already learned the hard way the Cliff bar will turn rock solid in the matter of a month or so. Try the emergency rations like May Day. With that said water pouches would be a good idea as well. Finally a full size Bic lighter. i do not know why but the small ones seem to fail more often when they are exposed to conditions like in your vehicle.
May I add that if you're in an urban environment, adding an N95 respirator mask would be extremely beneficial. It doesn't need upkeep or change of filters like bigger bulkier respirators, and it's small and light enough that you can just put one in the kit without added weight or space. In an urban disaster, dust and particulate air pollution is a big health hazard, if you're going to go and dig your family out, or help neighbors, it would be beneficial.
coleman Pro-lock is the best Multi-tool money can buy. I lucked out and got mine free with a new razor back in the early 2000s. But if you find one for sale-BUY IT! You'll never look at leathermans again.
Maybe a metal cup so you have the ability to boil water? Really appreciate you showing affordable kits and being realistic about their capabilities and limitations.
No problem, glad you enjoy them. I was considering a cup but this one is small and I have the Lifestraw. One of the bigger Ammo Box Kit will also have a cup in it.
I use primarily metal cans for my kits. With metal you do scrifice weight, it is a thing. But you gain the ability to boil large amounts of water for cleaning or drinking. Or in a pinch making stew as seen on "band of brothers"
I wanted to see this video because when I began to buy all the small "bits and pieces" of survival gear I purchased some of those cheap little tool boxes and loaded them up with magnesium bars and matches and such to keep track of it all. I would like to create a kit for the car, but I have to use containers that protect the contents from the heat of a vehicle in a tropical climate.
somethings to add would be a nice stainless steel cup that you could fit part of the fire kit and water filter into so it wouldn't take up much room and yet provide a decent container, and maybe a large zip-lock bag that you could put the contents into so you could use the the ammo box itself to hold water?
For your Fire Kit add a Pencil Sharpener for making tinder. Over due to go through my recycled Military Metal Ammo can. For my urban EDC Go Bag/Get Home Bag I have the Maxpedition Textudo Laptop Backpack bag that fits a 17" or smaller laptop. The large inside pocket fits AR500 soft Backpack Level IIIA Armor. On the outside of the bag I have hanging a rape whistle (per "Nutnfancy") connected to an I.D. retractable tether. Thank you for the video ! tjl
One thing I did was go to my local Lumber store store. I bought a 3 ft. X 1/4 inch wood dwell, ran it through a standard tiny pencil sharpener (Which IS in my kit), and made a ziplock bag full of quick igniting tinder. When that runs out, I can find small dry twigs of the right diameter and run them through the sharpener-MORE tinder.
You need to mow.:-D All kidding aside this is a great video. I like how you are practical with it and don't over do any one things. Most of these bugout type videos are impractical.
Im actually going to do one of these for my father in law and mother in law for there truck. so Im checking different options out. but i am using an ammo can.
It is not good to walk far distances the best thing o do is travel short distances from when you crashed/broke down it makes it Easter for the rescue team to find you
Great vid.....I just subscribed.....hate to say it but if Hillary gets into office.....bugging out might just be around the corner and be a reality that will test everyones ability to survive...!!!
This was a great idea, and seems the ideal size to fit behind in my storage area of my truck.
Also, small items can be taped or stuffed into the lid of the box. The ribbing on the lid creates a bunch of partitioned compartments.

backyardcraftsman Good idea.
That is an awsome 💡. Well done.
Always love great ideas for survival kits. Great job and great vidoe. Be blessed,

Great comment, I have a mirror in there and a whistle, but I will have to get a glow stick and flare too.
gideonstactical If you get some flare gun you might want to get some bear bangers for it too.
Very creative idea! I think i might make one, though with a larger ammo tin

Nice idea! Great pick for the contents.
nice bit of kit...thanks for posting your video
Really like this idea

I'm sure you could find room in there for a piece or two of folded heavy duty aluminum foil. And, maybe a small fishing kit and a signal mirror.

Sidney Anderson good point.
Sidney Anderson You can still rock boil water in the plastic box.

outstanding kit, needs skeeter repellant
Great idea. Thanks for the video.
I been seeing a lot of videos with these ammo boxes from Walmart.
I need to get me a couple .
Ya, they are great.
I like survival. I do it every day. Hell of a lot better than dieing.
you can grind a 90 deg. angle on the spine of the mora companion to get spark and still only 14$
I get those PLANO ammo boxes at Rural King for $3.99, ... i have several, great for many uses.
nice thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.
No problem!
I like my rebar a lot more now, thanks lol ;)-
Sweet!

Rafael R. Nice good suggestions!
On the top you can put some fishing kit.
Thanks for the video. You ccan also use the Mora Bushcraft Black to baton with. It's a very stout tool.
I will be doing a review in the future on the Bushcraft Black, I look forward to seeing what it can do.
Great idea. Gracias
Thanks Carlos.
Very useful. Thanks.
I've got an actual ex military steel ammo box. It's pretty heavy but it will last forever
+Zander Gladman-Mitchell the seal lasts about 7 years with regular use. Lol but itll last "long enough" haha
+Danny Verduzco Is it a water proof seal?
+Zander Gladman-Mitchell yeah its supposed to be, eventually it rots away
I loved this video and all the helpful comments. I just subscribed to your channel and look forewarned to what I'll run across on it.
Stefan Klages Awesome! Thanks for the support and welcome to the GT family.

What about floating? Do you think that thing could float? Like if you fell in a river or stream.
It is water resistant not water tight.
Im actually going to do one of these for my father in law and mother in law for there truck. so Im checking different options out. but i am using an ammo can.
good stuff man....
Oh you answered my question at the end. Lol
Cool.
good video man awesome ideal
Thanks Scott!
Gideon: again you have a Lifestraw in your maxpedition survival kit, where did you buy the Lifestraw in paper packaging??
Gary Huelsman I bought it off of amazon and that is how it showed up.
How in paper I see them in Walmart
What about food like small packets of liquid soup
Great vid! Are you planning on surviving next to your car or how are you planning on carrying this kit if you have to walk somewhere?
It is not good to walk far distances the best thing o do is travel short distances from when you crashed/broke down it makes it Easter for the rescue team to find you
Good ideas, but if its only for 1 day, 2 emergency blankets & 5 different fire starters seems like overkill.
Is your esee 6 still your favorite knife, like you said in a 2013 video?
Yep!
I stripped mine and it has a #600 grit satin finish. Just waiting for a skystorm leather sheath......😃
It's my favorite too
The best
Add a deck of playing cards
What's Tommy chewing on? A zombie leg?
gonna make this but gonna stuff a can of spam in
The rebar is a ripper of a tool
Look for a pocket chainsaw to throw in there.
Really they named a Survival Company SOL? lol SOL usually means Shit out of luck..
5:00 who else tought that was a butterfly knife ?
right
me
Maybe some water
Great vid.....I just subscribed.....hate to say it but if Hillary gets into office.....bugging out might just be around the corner and be a reality that will test everyones ability to survive...!!!
Just look what we have now.
if you want help with the IFAK set up i am a former navy corpsman and I'm willing to assist if you like. gideonstactical
the audio in this video is bad but the content is good, radio shack sells mics you can mount on you to get better quality audio.
I thought SOL was Shit Outta Luck :-p
if your not haveing fun surviving well then your doing it wrong
666 LIKES 😲😲😲😲
#IBEHERE
I could buy a car instead of all this
My question is about hygiene how can someone take a shower in the woods when you are campaign out?
Eric Mesias they make shower kits. Pretty much get water out of a river or lake. Put in in a bag and hang from a tree branch
