When I was a child, the nearest McDonald's was two hours away in Springfield, Missouri. Once or twice per year, my parents would drive to Springfield to shop. My brothers and I would beg my dad to take us to McDonald's (prompted by TV advertisements, lol). My dad really didn't like the place or want to go there, but he would usually give in and take us there! Later on, around 1980, a McDonald's opened just 10 minutes away from our house. It was the very first restaurant in the whole area that had a drive-up window. Dairy Queen quickly added a drive-up window, but it was very slow. My favorite burger that is no longer available was the Mc D L T.
In St. Paul, MN in the late 70s, one McDonald's had a golf cart you could rent to drive to the playland that was away from the restaurant. It was pretty cool.
I remember when they tried to do an "in restaurant dining experience". You'd walk in, be seated, and someone would come around and take your order, and bring you a small serving of popcorn while you waited. This was during the time of the Mc DLT, and I for one am glad it was short-lived, both ideas.

My favorite was and is the Big Mac. It’s still my go to but it was always best when placed in the styrofoam container. It steamed the bun and melted the cheese to perfection. The only one that rivaled it was the McDlt with the cold lettuce and tomato when you had a craving for tomatoes. We still have the set of glasses at home. Gone are the days of eating inexpensively.

I was lucky enough to have gone to an original building McD's in the very late 60's. I remember when they started building the new current style, and I hated it. They built an original style McD's not to far from my house, and that is really cool. Back in those days, full grown adults actually cooked and served the food. I often wonder how the taste of McD's must have changed sense then. I remember it was the best stuff on the planet as a kid. Sense that time, they have changed the oil fries are cooked in, and I'm sure the bread is really different from then as well.

These days with the concern over paper waist those glass mugs and glasses would make good sense and with the eat in dining facilities that they have they could also have dishwashers take care of them and with the drive through they can also be designed with matching reusable lids.
an interesting historical rendition of mc`donalds. micky d`s has good coffee, crispy hash browns and the big breakfast isn`t too bad if you can get it hot🍔🍟🥤🙂
First one in my home town, I believe, was in 1960. My parents loved Mcdonalds because it was both fast and cheap. I was 11 and I prefered the 25c burgers at local drive in. I did prefer the McD's fries
I saw on the original menu the cheese advertised as real aged cheddar. Doubt they are using that now. I'm old enough to remember when they cooked the frys in tallow. Wish they still did. 😞
Back then the portions were bigger any the price was reasonable. I bought breakfast for the two of us the other day and it was not a whole lot of food but the amount was over $20.00 what a rip-off.
Your opening picture of Dick and Mac McDonald is incorrect. The picture on the right is, in fact, Ray Kroc. I know because I worked with him in the late 60’s in LA. Need to edit a correction please.
The food used to be better tasting too. They've obviously changed the products they use for their food because it tastes nothing like it used to taste. They're not the same, both the burgers and the fries. McDonald's food used to have a distinct flavor that you could always expect, but now everything has a weird crappy taste. There doesn't seem to be any change in the buns at least
Not sure why McDonald's food stopped tasting good. Last time I ordered a Big Mac it tasted wooden. The fries weren't as soft and crispy as they once were. Wow, what happened!!
With all the concerns of fast food being unhealthy they've removed a lot of salt, changed to vegetable oil and made the bread bland. How they used to be made and cooked gave the burgers their flavour. All the flavours come from the sauces now. The price they are currently in 2022 means you could probably get a better burger elsewhere to be honest.
I remember the oldmcdonalds, Was better than the new one. The service and the food was better. They waited on you right away and it was cheaper. Now the service is slower and And the food is subpar.
Fast food 1960's, drive up always a short line, order, clerk gathers already made burgers/fries/drink, pay ~buck for everything then back to your car in 5 minutes, burgers were crap thin dry tasteless, early fries cooked in lard were awesome and shakes w real cream, yum but BK much better burgers! ~

I don't know about Burger King, But McD's used to use a flat top grill to cook on. Now they don't. They only cook it on the grill for 40 seconds before sending it to a steamer/heating warmer and that's where it sits for upto 1/2 an hour. When you order a burger, it's pulled from the warmer and made, instead of from the grill.

These days with the concern over paper waist those glass mugs and glasses would make good sense and with the eat in dining facilities that they have they could also have dishwashers take care of them and with the drive through they can also be designed with matching reusable lids.
This brought back memories of the 60s. When McDonald's fries and every other restaurants were far better..
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Favorite McDonald’s memory’s,, the old school break a few bone’s, get a few stitches playground.
an interesting historical rendition of mc`donalds. micky d`s has good coffee, crispy hash browns and the big breakfast isn`t too bad if you can get it hot🍔🍟🥤🙂
Thank you for watching! :)
When I was a kid, our family went to McDonald's every Friday night. I think a hamburger was 15 cents.
I remember that
Monopoly game!
First one in my home town, I believe, was in 1960. My parents loved Mcdonalds because it was both fast and cheap. I was 11 and I prefered the 25c burgers at local drive in. I did prefer the McD's fries
Their fries are hard to beat, but they were better back in the day! Thanks for watching!
I saw on the original menu the cheese advertised as real aged cheddar. Doubt they are using that now. I'm old enough to remember when they cooked the frys in tallow. Wish they still did. 😞
I remember the times my family and I ate at McDonald's for many years.
I MISS THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED DEEP FRIED APPLE PIES....AND FRIED PEACH AND MANGO PIES FOR SUMMER....FRIED MINCE PIES FOR CHRISTMAS....
the narrator sounds like Todd Chrisley
Back then the portions were bigger any the price was reasonable. I bought breakfast for the two of us the other day and it was not a whole lot of food but the amount was over $20.00 what a rip-off.
Those arches weren't golden originally. They were red and green neon. You can see the neon tubes on some of the early photos.
I wish that was still around
I worked in a fishbowl in Central Park, Bham, Al.
Your opening picture of Dick and Mac McDonald is incorrect. The picture on the right is, in fact, Ray Kroc. I know because I worked with him in the late 60’s in LA. Need to edit a correction please.
That’s cool! I am aware of the error and will try and post an edit as soon as I can, thanks for watching!
Shout out to the 90s kids who remember the McPizza
I never heard of mcpizza back in the 90's when I was little in Arkansas and I never have while I was growing up!
Now I'm Mc old, ready to Mc Die going to Mc Heaven🍔
You mean Koft opened another McDonald's restaurant. The first McDonald's restaurant was opened by the McDonald's brothers themselves.
Yes i had the muppets toys. (you showed them) I had the miss piggy and kermit toys. You can take miss piggy out the car i remember.🍔🍟🤣
When the fries were cooked in beef tallow. Ummmm.
Why do you have a picture of Ray Croc as one of the McDonald brothers?
Sorry, that was an error -- thanks for watching!
The pic at 19 seconds, the one on the right is Ray Krap, I mean Kroc. That is not one of the McDonald brothers!
I am aware of the error and will try to fix, thanks for watching!
My favorite place
I remember when the Big Mac came in a styrofoam container and fries were prepared in beef tallow.
Then some vegetarian complained.
I remember when the Big Mac came rapped in tin foil with blue print on it with a white paper ring around it
I remember the oldmcdonalds,
Was better than the new one.
The service and the food was better. They waited on you right away and it was cheaper.
Now the service is slower and
And the food is subpar.
I agree -- thanks for watching! :)
Even back in 1966-67-68 we always told mom& dad we wanna to to the clown🤡
never said McDonalds
basically sell edible chemistry sets now .
.....you talk about the McDonald Brothers , But you show a Picture of Ray Kroc....
Sorry, that was an error -- thanks for watching!
THEY obviously did something right back then...if they didnt ut would not be what it is today....hopefully no one ruins that, like so many other things
Boy Does McDonald’s 🍟know how to ruin a good thing!!!
Burger Chef was better
Seriously? Their burgers were nasty.
@@baconbap Red Barn was better and they came out with the "Big Mac" 4 years before McD's and called it the Big Barney. They also developed the first Salad bar and had fried chicken too!
Did you know Burger Chef bought their Cheese fro McD? The cartons were just folded inside out (found that out when I got some out of the walkin when the manager was busy)
Amen
Thus began the American Obesity crisis as we know it. I eat healthy foods and let me tell you if I go back and try and eat there I get sick from all the chemicals, sugar and saturated fats in it. Its like a shock to my system. No thanks I will continue to eat healthier food choices and make my own food.
Their food in 2022 is complete dogshit I wouldn't eat it for free.
the mcdonalds experience has long faded away......way to much money for a hamburger i think.....it's come a long way since 15 cents.......
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION...IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE FOR THE BROTHERS TO DO BUISNESS WITH RAY CROC....MCDONALDS WOULDVE STILL BEEN THE BEST BURGER CHAIN IF THE BROTHERS NEVER SOLD IT TO RAY CROC.....MCDONALDS WOULD STILL BE LIKE ( IN N OUT )......REAL SHAME MCDONALDS HAS GONE SPIRALLING DOWN....
McDonalds back in the 70's was pretty good. Now it tastes like crap.
It's definitely not the same!
Flintstone glasses! Beanie babies!
What I miss the most about McDonald's is the real meat that they used to put in their burgers
That place sure went to hell and the food to!
They lost their way long ago!
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, wish the quality of the burgers are as good as they once were!!!! Miss the great taste!!!!! Same with Burger King!!! Fast food joints have made it easy to walk away!!!! ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
I totally agree-- they are not the same, unfortunately!
