Thank you and Yes ma’am! When it got down to it I was in between Uchicago and Brown, but Brown’s financial aid package was not anywhere near affordable for my family, and they don’t accept outside scholarships to apply to your balance. Basically any scholarship you get that isn’t from them will just be taken from their financial aid offer to you, so the balance will stay the same. Uchicago accepts all scholarships and applies them to your outstanding balance and their financial aid package was much more generous to begin with so it was a no brainer at that point. I wish you all luck! this process is not a lot of fun but it’s worth it in the end :) also Brown is a wonderful school. if it didn’t come down to finances I might’ve ended up there, but i adore uchicago and i’m so glad i made the choice to study here.
@@kennedylareign thank you for the quick response. I completely understand. I hear that U Chicago is, “where fun goes to die.” It doesn’t sound like that has been your experience. Is this a correct assumption also? Lol
@@estherbradley3218 i think this saying is very inspired by the dreary chicago winters and if weather has a big impact on your mood then i can see how uchi may not be the best fit. the classes are also rigorous and fast-paced and it can be a lot to keep up with, but i personally love that this school keeps me on my toes :)
@@estherbradley3218 thank you so much! wishing you and your daughter luck. maybe i’ll make some videos on campus to give you a better look at my experience 🥰
I'm in high school ( 12) ...I'm going to apply for undergrad in US or Canada ....can you please tell me what extracurricular activities I can do now to get in top universities....I know this is very lame question....but do tell me or suggest me some
Hi! I know I'm not her but I'm also an international student and I've been doing research since I'm 13 (I'm about to graduate). The best advice I can give you is to start a big project that has a good impact in your community and it would be better yet if it is related to your aspiring major. Besides that, make sure you take advantage of your resources, look at your enviroment, do you have a family friend or uncle that can help you get an intership? Does your school offer clubs? Can you take courses online? Create a activism social media account?. Last but not less important, even though most colleges are test optional now, take the SAT or ACT and try to get the best score possible if you have the opportunity, the same with subject tests. I hope I was good help! Best of lucks!
@@Furan14 no unfortunately :( but I think it’s because I am lower to middle class and asked for full scholarships and they’re not really generous when it comes to that.
My nephew is no joke but compared to you he ain't shit 🤔. He got into Yale Princeton Cornell John Hopkins and Cornell. His dream school was Yale. So that's where he's going. He refused to apply to U of Chicago because of that essay! Your story let's you stand out, my nephew writing let him stand out, but compared to you he wasn't shit 🤔 But what's funny about him, is he needed to get into Yale to experience diversity in his education. Because he went to a predominantly white Catholic high School in Long island! 95 % White!

Hi, what was your IB predicted grade?
Great video. Can you tell me why you chose U Chicago over Brown? Was it financial aid related? My daughter’s dream school is Brown.
