VERY nice! I can't wait to get into my shell replacement project, thanks to you.
All parts are interchangeable with stock parts so you can use the original buttons and triggers if you like
Thank you. I broke my controller a while back, and I'm going to paint my case so when I buy a new one I could have a sweet controller case. :3
i bought the orange polish just the other day and i had the hardest time getting the R1 and L1 buttons in and when i did, they got stuck when i put the shell on. So I looked at my old R1 and L1 buttons and the side when the 1 is facing you that is longer than the other side on the new buttons, so i trimmed them down, and they work fine now, just a quick fix
Thanks for the sub. I don't think there is a specific name for this piece. It is just the internal part of the trigger or trigger support which clips into the shell.
Man this shell looks beast, only thing is I had to sand down the inside of the shell where the PS button goes because it was getting stuck, and one of the L2 or R2 buttons was over sprayed and it was to tight so im just using my regular buttons. Which isn't attractive but ima try and see if I can sand it down without completely messing up the paint
We do not specifically sell the screwdriver as it is just a standard #1 size Philips screwdriver that is needed. Most people have one laying around, but if not can be found at any tool store for a few dollars.
We currently only have gloss colors. but we will be getting in matte finish shells in about 1 month.
OMG you really helped me a lot thank you.
The flex is not "stuck" onto the main circuit board, they just make contact by pressure so I don't think you have damaged anything at all. you should jsut be able to put it back together
I was wondering if you can do a video where you swap out all the parts provided in your controller kit.
i might try this, bought a ps3 a couple days ago and the controllers are kinda bad, the plastic around the joysticks has worn off to the point where when you push the joystick to the edge and move it around it doesn't move smoothly anymore
Nice Vid!! I might consider buying a shell from your website soon!! :)
thanks now i know how to do this im so happy;)
i have an old ps3 controller the inside looks just like the one taken a part in this video. i dont have the sticker on the back as it wore out and i took it off to paint the shell. i got my ps3 slim 250gb (i think) in 2009 i think some where around there. the controller that came with the ps3 is the one im trying to replace the shell on. is this a 2nd gen controller? i bought a new remote in 2013 and i bought a new shell but the shell didnt fit on my old remote but it fit on the new 2013 remote. the battery on the new remote was held it wasnt loose like the one in this vid (and my old controller). also the inside of my old controller doesnt clip in it just sits in there
Hey sorry to ask but could you do a quick review/presentation on your red ps3 controller shell or all the colors, I'm stuck idk if I want the red or purple
This helped my a lot to install my gold chrome controller thnx a lot and subbed and I also have a question what are those things called that you were holding on 4:40 the white things that need to go inside the L and R 2 buttons the white things
Don't forget to clip the extra piece that comes with the extra controller. It's suppose fit into the hole of the circuit board but it doesn't. So just clip that sucker. For the PS button, you might need to do some clipping as well if you want to use your old one, like me.
Than it will not work. this is why we updated the video with some annotations. if you have annotations hidden you would not see it. But if you have that piece between the triggers it will not work with your controller.
If the shell has the separate small pieces in-between than it will not work. The board inside is different and will not fit correctly in this shell. The "E" on the end is just a European version of the controller but I don't know why yours would have that model number starting with CECHZC2 and not be a one of the newer version controllers.
Thank you,
Chris
ConsoleCustoms
No, there are no rubber pads included you have to reuse the ones from your original controller.
I went with a gold one off eBay. :)
If it has the separate piece it will not work. We have found that some controllers which end in C2 are still the older style case. these are mostly European controllers ending in C2E but some in the US have come up as well.
My guy just found a shortcut to life
Thanks
could you help me, what size screwdriver do you need in order to complete this? Thank you if you reply and I bought one of your products. They're Great!
i got one of these from you guys and after i installed it the controller will work for a little, and then spaz out activating random buttons and stuff. I made sure to be careful with the flexible circuit board just like you said. What's going wrong?
Hey you guys sell the screw drivers to take the screws off?
does it includes the rubber things that make the r1,l1,r2,l2 buttons work?
Are these shells completely different plastic than the normal standard ps3 shells. Mine tend to get chipped easily and they need replacing
Hello, I'm curious if you have any shells for the first generation controller(CECHZC1)... interested in changing my shell for that.... and if you dont , do you know where I an get parts/accessories for it? thanks
I am sorry but we currently only have them available for the later generation controllers. I do not currently know of any place them sells them.
i have a controller with the clips in the middle with the model no. CECHZC2U will it work?
what about CECHZC2E but i have the clips in the middle of R1 and R2, will they still be compatible?
is it mandatory to use the buttons given to you, or can you use your old ones?
this helped alot a buddy of mine wants a shell because his broke well the toggle anyway, is there any way you would be willing to send me that old standard shell with toggles?
We do not carry any and are unable to get them. I am not sure if you will be able to find them anywhere else.
where can i buy a cheap controller shell because the plastic aroundt the anoulge stick chipped. please some suggestions
What is the difference from the new ones to the older ones and why don't they work? I just bought a shell for my controller to find out it doesn't fit. Is there any way to make it fit?
Yeah buy the correct shell!
hope it works on CECHZC2E it has no extra peice between the triggers. Its solid. so this should work for me?
Yes, this shell will work for you.
Ever thought of doing colored thumbsticks?
hey man i bought 2 of these shells off ebay and just noticed one of my controllers is like the "c1" versions (6axis that came with the ps3) and i dont think its going to work...is there a reason why it wont work with the controller? are the shoulder buttons much larger or more complicated to work with?
The older controllers are quite a bit different internally the plastic that supports the flex cable is shaped differently and so are the mounts for the triggers. They can be made to work it just takes some modification to the internal plastic parts. We do not currently have any videos or instruction on how to do this.
@prlatino22 Look at the video starting 0:40 seconds. If you controller has the extra peice between the trigger than the shell will not work for that controller. If it is solid like the controller on the right than it will work for you.
consolecustoms Strange, my R1 + L1 buttons will not sit in properly, they are almost solid. What could I possibly be doing wrong? They will not go down and up smoothly as his do.
Harry Murray Most likely the buttons are into sitting on top of the bump on the rubber pad and causing it to get pinched. goto 12:45 in the video you can see the bumps on the rubber pads when we are putting in the button, you need to be sure that this is behind the button so it can actually be pressed.
I have one more question.. my first controller works fine now but the second one does al kind of buttons on screen but i dont press anything...
It is possible you are missing the small black piece of foam that is normally behind the flex cable. This creates pressure on the flex to connect it to the main board. If this is missing all kinds of strange things can happen with the buttons. if you send us an email through our website I can Send you picture with what you need to look for.
I have just send an email im looking forward to the reply.
Thx I'm going to try this dude.if I need help I'm going to ask u..
do you have any shells that works with the older version of the controller?
Carl Pierson I am sorry we only have ones for the newer controllers.
my problem is the d pad and the other buttons wont work or I have to press hard to get the home button to work, any advice?
You may not have the rubber pads behind the buttons aligned properly or there may be an issue with the main circuit board making connection to the flex board. Send us am email through our website and we can reply with pictures of a few things to check.
hey umm my controller doesn't work i work on it for an hour try over and over with my dads help and tried it that day and didn't work so i am made and want y money back for the controller shell and the controller its self and also a few pieces were broken( led lights for player 1-40 so that might be anther problem PLEASE REPLY AND HELP ps i ordered from amazon
hey man I followed your video but my R1 and L1 one buttons won't come out again after press them what can I do about that?
Plz reply I'm desperate
Most likely the buttons are into sitting on top of the bump on the rubber pad and are instead pinched against the side of it. goto 12:45 in the video you can see the bumps on the rubber pads when we are putting in the button, you need to be sure that this is behind the button so it can actually be pressed.
Do your shells come with a set of screws? I need to replace a broken shell and the screws are missing.
Yes, all shells come with new screws for the case, The internal screw that holds the circuit board down is not included. But if you need one just add something to the notes section of your order during checkout and we can add one in for free.
thank you
I am sorry about the problems you ran into. shoot us an email from our website (see description) and we can work it out.
Thanks,
Chris

Yes, we sell purple thumbsticks on our website, the link is in the description.
What are the payment methods? can we just pay by cash?
Can you use old buttons instead of the new ones
Yes, the original buttons will fit and work just fine, the same goes for the thumbsticks, D-pad and triggers if you would like to use the originals all the parts are interchangeable.
Do You Have A Site Where You Ship Your Products To The Uk Free P&P?
I am sorry but we do not offer any free international shipping. You will get our best international shipping rate s for the shells in our ebay store. stores.ebay.com/Console-Customs
I ordered two chrome shells from eBay and both of them don't fit together perfectly. Am so pissed off that I couldn't get the controller to fit in snug and nicely.
Did you purchase these from us? if so please contact us through our website with your order information and we will work with you to make it right.
I've purchased it from a different seller on eBay who offered exactly what you did in the video.
***** Unfortunately not all shells are created equal. we went through 4 different manufacturers before we found one that could make shells for us that fit well. We could get them made cheaper than we do now, but we would rather avoid the customer frustrations like you are having with cheaper products. in the aftermarket world things are not always perfect but we have tried our best to get as close as we can.
I would suggest contacting the seller and trying to work it out with them. If they are not willing to help shoot us am email through our website so we can get a few pics from you and we may be able to help you figure out where the problem is coming from.
P.S. my name is Chris so you can direct your email toward me since I will already know what is going on.
Thank You Very much.
how much are they?
Is their any way I can remove the rumblepack
Few Ryze-PS3 You can just de-solder the wires from the board or even just cut the wires to take them out.
Will your controller shell work with mine? The FCC ID is AK8CECHZC2UA2 just want to know before i buy one.
Scar Hadeez You need to watch the video at the :30 mark, If your controller does NOT have the separate piece between the triggers than it will work for you. This is a better way to know if it will work vs the FCC ID.
consolecustoms Ok, thank you and sorry for that. I was going based on the FCC ID's you listed and mine does not have it so i'll be ordering one soon. Again, thank you.
HELP PLEASE i followed this video and everything, but now when i turn my controlleron, loads of random buttons get activated without me pressing anything, sometimes it will stop and work for like 20 seconds, anyone have any ideas what i did wrong/how to fix it?
It sounds like you are not getting a good connection between the main circuit board and the flex circuit board that the buttons press against. This could be that the main circuit board is not fully seated, check the plastic post that is just next to the screw that holds the board in and make sure the board is fully down on the this post. Also there should be a small black piece of foam that sits behind the flexible circuit board to help create pressure to connect the two boards together, if this is missing you will also experience random button problems.
thx for the advice, its appreciated. your video is also great and easy to follow, but i have a have a new controller now, id follow your advice but that faulty controller is in a garbage dump somewhere now, it used to bug out sometimes anyways before i messed it up even more.
Same problem but I got it fixed in no time I hope you got it fixed to
Please email us through our website or ebay with your ebay ID so we can look your order. If you are in the United States all tracking is uploaded to and available from your ebay account as well.
I did everything you did but my arrow buttons don't work aye.. Haha can u give us some help
It could be that the rubber pad that goes behind the buttons is not sitting correctly. or the board may not be seated down all the way. if you still are having trouble please send us an email through our website and we can help get things figured out.
consolecustoms could also be a little plastic thing with 3 'legs' wich are on some controllers. it sits betwine the d-pad and the rubber pad. use the one from your original controller on your new shell and the problem should be solved
