In my opinion, grape Pedialyte tastes amazing especially when I’m thirsty/dehydrated/sick. The key is have it COLD, with lots of ICE. Also watering it down slightly makes it taste even better too, especially if you’re not a fan of the taste (I am)
I had a sore throat and it hurt to swallow anything. I slept a lot so I often felt dehydrated . I was skeptical about the orange juice method, but nothing else seemed to be working. So I decided to try it out and I must say it is highly effective. If anyone stumbles across this comment just know I recommend this.
I had a stomach bug in the form of a fever and diarrhea all day today and feeling the vomit coming and kept suppressing it. Then I crushed up three cloves of garlic at the end of the day, chewed and swallowed them. In less than three minutes I felt the vomit coming and it sprayed like a firehouse LOL! After I vommitted no more fever, body ache or belly pain. My strength is back.
currently have had the stomach bug for 6 days , when i say it’s a living hell… TRUST ME . i wouldn’t wish this on ANYONE. the vomiting stopped ab two days ago after throwing up all my insides out for 4 days straight day & night . i’ve barely had any sleep but now i’m finally trying to recover as quick as i can . worst feeling ever istg.
I get bugged when my friends complain that, they "can't even keep down water". Water hits the stomach very hard because of its hydrogen bonding. Adding electrolytes changes that. I had a gastrectomy, and my whole GI tract had to readjust over a year post-op. I was no stranger to nausea before the surgery. Pedialyte saved me from so many ER trips while I was recovering. My dietitian said she wouldn't let me get IVs, that I had to relearn how to eat and drink post-op. The store brands were cheaper, and I'd water them down some. I'd think, it's this or being in an ER with florescent lights and sick people, not as comfortable as home. Too much sugar like in sports drinks and fruit juice would give me diarrhea. Ginger tea (chopped up ginger steeped in boiled water for 20 minutes) actually has enough ginger to illicit its anti-nausea effects. It's spicy, but it work post-tonsillectomy.
Gatorade for me works quicker then medication with a stomach ache it helps keep my energy up,whilst giving me Somthing to actually throw up instead of just dry heaving I usually water mine down tho so that I can get more water
Pedialyte is good for rehydration. Most sports players have actually switched to it compared to Gatorade. But on the flipside IMHO it tastes like shit and it''s expensive 🤣
Thank you very much! I got food poisoning cause by Bacillus cereus. I had the brilliant lazy idea of eating the roomtemp leftover pasta from the previous night instead of making fresh ones. I will never, ever neglect food safety from now on.
Dr. O’Connell, thank you for sharing. I managed to have oj in the fridge.. added mostly water to the oj-and instead of generic salt I shook some Himalayan Pink Salt in and it tastes like one of my favorite snacks: Orange w/ a little salt. I feel a lot better now so thank you Doc!
What you should’ve suggested, is watering down Gatorade and adding electrolytes. That’s cheaper but still good. Also tastes better too. Or best of all- GRAPE FLAVORED PEDIALYTE, IMO it actually tastes amazing and really helps.
I am dealing with a stomach bug or something today. I did finally buy some generic Pedialyte. He is right it does not taste good, but you do feel better sooner. I'll take the bad taste for the relief.
I'll have to try this for nausea. When I had the stomach bug last month, I took zofran, anti nausea and that stuff is magic. I was definitely less miserable.
Thank you Doctor for touching on the subject of diarrhea. That is exactly what I wanted to hear, dehydration after diarrhea. I’ve tried all those drinks. Thank you for the home remedy of orange juice and water and salt or baking soda. Will try that. Would like to know how long with rest do you feel 💯 😊
It was nice to learn what fluid to drink. My biggest problem is taking my medicine ie blood pressure, depression meds, htcz, etc because anything I drink or try to eat gets vomited or pooped out right away. I am into my third day of this, still vomiting and pooping so much. It being Christmas, I can’t call my doctor.
I just tried the pedialyte popsicles and those are amazing, they taste amazing... that might be because I haven’t been able to drink much without throwing up but they were sooooo good!
That's awesome! My kid used to hate Pedialyte when she was little. She called it "the barf drink" 😁 (Both because you drank it when you were barfing and because it might MAKE you barf!)
This is the only way I can describe what I have. A stomach bug. Other than that I'm 100% fine. Just nauseous and stomach problems but not vomiting... But this was a very interesting tip. Gonna try
Id imagine this would work wonders for the lower half of the 'stomach." However for those who are throwing up from the stomach. Rehydrating with such drink would not be very good. When one usually throws up, the majority of the contents in ones stomach would be expelled. Causing the stomach to eventually fill back up with very acidic, bile. Once said patient drinks said drink above, this would cause a lot of acid to be consumed, Causing a train reaction of other side effects, related or may be confused with said original "stomach" bug , upsetting the stomach once again leading to heart burn, more vomiting, dehydration, etc., as well as potentially worsening the main underlining issue. The stomach bug. However oranges and orange juice have very beneficial vitamins in them. If one would recommend this to another. I would advise them otherwise or to dilute it further to reduce the possibility of inducing other potential side effects. My personal favorite is water with or without baking soda and fresh ripe bananas. But we all have opinions of our own. Coming from a citrus nut like me this is something I would never say. But I have learned this hard way and I am sure there are other out there doing similar things. Thanks
I had two bananas while trying to treat my stomach bug and it’s the only thing I didn’t bring back up😊… all the coconut water, gsol,Gatorade and water I brought right back up within a few minutes.
I have a stomach flu right now Thank you so much for your help and information But still doesn't really work for me But hopefully I can find a video that will help me cure or can help me deal with hydration 👇
For everyone that thinks Gatorade could work. Gatorade and Powerade is a 50/50 chance it will work. I had a stomach bug once and Gatorade made it worse. for some weaker stomachs I suggest water or Pedialyte, and if you think you can handle it try Gatorade.
What if you’re not necessarily dehydrated anymore (drank lots of water and pedialyte) but the back of your throat hurts really bad? Like it hurts swallowing
For people who are so sick they can’t keep down fluids, wouldn’t keeping the fluids in your mouth without swallowing it, allow for the sublingual and buccal absorption of the fluids into the blood?
I Dearly love my medical grade Electrolyte drink Powder. Tastes like lemon flavored sweat, yeah, but it dissolves in a small glass of water as well as in a big boi, and i can just give the 'lytes a quick chug and follow it up with a pitcher of some good clean agua.
I’m currently drinking zero sugar sprite and zero sugar propel. I’m type 2 and have to watch my sugars. They always spike when I’m sick. I feel like since drinking the propel and sprite, I feel so much better.
Are u here because u are having it currently
yesssss, it’s getting annoying
You are totally winning when your dad is a doctor. Your son is so lucky.

@EDWIN MANNA IN THE MATRIX lawyer too. 🤣
Hahahahaha, the exact opposite is true.
When he said *gulp gulp* “blehhh, it’s like drinking fruit flavored sweat” I felt that shit
🤣🤣

I did exactly what you said. It worked 👍🏼. It was really bad and I was so sleepy from having to get up at night to relieve my bug. Thank you
I'm That cowboy did you puke at all?
Vickky Chico I tried it and I don’t throw up
How long did it take to get get rid of after you listen to him

My record is throwing up 5 times in a day and that feeling when u wake up at night and immediately vomit
@@jujugari7896I too recently had a bout where I threw up 5-6 times. Within 4 hours. It was not a fun time for sure.

This slowed my throwing up progress, for those who are infected, hope you get well soon!
I'm infected and want to die right now
Gatorade for me works quicker then medication with a stomach ache

I usually water mine down tho so that I can get more water
Ya the way you put that was funny !!
I just drink watter and gatoraid bc i have no energy to stand let alone pour things into something else
@@imjustaguy4340 smoke a sativa
Water it down and add a small amount of potassium, and sodium. Have it in a cup full of ice so it’s nice and cold
Or IMO, cold grape Pedialyte with ice tastes the very best of all
What I got from this video:
don’t drink pedialyte unless you wanna drink sweaty orange juicy.
Juicy 🤣
Pedialyte is good for rehydration. Most sports players have actually switched to it compared to Gatorade. But on the flipside IMHO it tastes like shit and it''s expensive 🤣
It’s not that bad
Thank you very much! I got food poisoning cause by Bacillus cereus. I had the brilliant lazy idea of eating the roomtemp leftover pasta from the previous night instead of making fresh ones. I will never, ever neglect food safety from now on.
Pedialyte works the best. FYI grape flavor tastes the best.
I loved this and how clear and easy it is to understand! Thank you Doctor
Did you get stomach bug?
Drinking acidic orange juice after being sick sounds awful .. especially with acid reflux and an upset stomach. I'll stick to Gatorade.
Thank you so much Doctor. Finally a great doctor and a funny person !
This is a helpful video. I can't drink OJ because of the acidity level so I'll try this with another juice. Thx
7up works for me. 7up, egg fried rice, crackers & cheese.
I’m in pain from this cold but his comment about the drink tasting like fruit flavored sweat had me cracking up 🤣😆
*himalayan pink salt also has that minerals boost
how often do u take it? everyday?
OJ makes me way sicker when I have a stomach bug. It’s basically asking to vomit. Almost as bad as milk for me. No thanks!!
What you should’ve suggested, is watering down Gatorade and adding electrolytes. That’s cheaper but still good. Also tastes better too. Or best of all- GRAPE FLAVORED PEDIALYTE, IMO it actually tastes amazing and really helps.
i have all of this in my house im making it now

Thank you so much for this video it helped me through the norovirus very grateful
Yeah that’s crazy my stomach was hurt
Ginger helps more than just a bit for upset stomach and nausea. I use it all of the time. Great stuff!
Thank you Dr. O'Connel you're a lovely human. I despise the taste of electrolytes so maybe I'll try the orange juice mixture next time.
Glad I stumbled upon your channel. Content definitely makes a lot of sense. I will try to orange 🍊 juice mixed with water 💧 hack.
Justtt getting over it kinda. Got some pedaylite in berry flavor.. i actually like the taste. and some organic applesauce🔥
Same. And for me I love Grape 🍇 flavored Pedialyte

I have tried that to and it is sickly sweet . thanks for the recommendation .
Thank you SO much. I'm going to try this.
That was great information!!!
Thank you for making this video! From Winnipeg Canada
Dude. This is actually gold
Thanks for sharing your tips
This made feel way better infinite thanks
Yeah buddy I am going to try this out for sure
Thank you, Doctor.
I used ginger with garlic plus Honey too
Nice home remedie will remember for the future
I just tried the pedialyte popsicles and those are amazing, they taste amazing... that might be because I haven’t been able to drink much without throwing up but they were sooooo good!
They really are so good when you’ve been vomiting for days.

Thanks Dr. Patrick. I workout hard and sometimes cramp up afterwards.
In UK you can get sachets of Dioralyte at the chemists to add to water, tasty way to take in electrolytes.
This is the only way I can describe what I have. A stomach bug. Other than that I'm 100% fine. Just nauseous and stomach problems but not vomiting... But this was a very interesting tip. Gonna try
Did it work!
Thank you! I couldn't find a good enough way to "heal" the stomach bug, and orange juice is my favorite drink!
How did the drink go for you?
Alkeseltzer seems like an optimal medicine. Relieve some symptoms + a dose of bicarb (NaHCO3).
Great Tip with the orange juice
Thank you doctor 🙌🏼💯🙏🏼
Thank you Doctor!!
Thank you for this video ,
4 oz of OJ
1/2 lemon or lime
A pinch of salt
Ice and fill with mineral water
Thank you so much the orange juice method worked
Fantastic! Thank you!
Dam that was good to know
Try to use Himalayan pink salt plus make it room temperature drink(not too cold/not too hot)
Thanks. What does the orange actually do? I have a few oranges and they are really sour. I am currently having the stomach flu Good video
Yes very helpful..thank you
Thanks for this I’ve been suffering from d for 2 days now water not doing no good neither is the lucozade here in uk thanks 😊
Thank you for this I was projectile vomiting every 5 mins and I feel terrible I’m going to try this

THANK YOU SOO MUCH
Thanks!!!
Very helpful. Also isn't Gatorade etc a bit to isotonic? I'd cut it 1/3 sport drink 2/3 water?

Wow, loved this. I read somewhere not to drink orange juice w a stomach bug though ?
Any juice I researched "won't do your stomach any good" with the tumbug.
I wouldn’t. Would make runs worse for me as OJ gives me runs.
Good info Doc. 😊
I have a stomach flu right now
Thank you so much for your help and information
But still doesn't really work for me
But hopefully I can find a video that will help me cure or can help me deal with hydration

I really like the zero sugar poweraid when I’m sick, it’s like a watered down Gatorade
Fr anytime I drank Gatorade it made things worse from feeling like throwing up to actually doing It
What if you’re not necessarily dehydrated anymore (drank lots of water and pedialyte) but the back of your throat hurts really bad? Like it hurts swallowing
i like the taste of electrolik, ive never tried pedialyte tho. i must be crazy because i drink it recreationally every now and then lol
Oh an O’Connell
Thanks doc! 👍
Thanks doc good into is this good for the children?
Smart Dr!

I tried red Gatorade afew years ago. Didn't work. I had red liquid coming out of my ass.
Smh..gotta have the lime gatoraid
Or the cool blue
Great. Now he can defecate in a rainbow of colors!
Thanks foe sharing.
Ice Cold lemon-lime Gatorade

Ginger ale works fine for me
Doctor? May I ask if 100% Coconut Water with no added sugars a decent option?
