This is for all of my renters out there that want to make their rental space feel like a custom home🤍 I hope you enjoy watching and are inspired to decorating & customize your space!! Which ideas would you consider trying out in your home??
I've done the peel and stick for my backsplash. I love it!
I'll definitely try those electrical tapes 😂
Oh wow thanks a lot for making this video!! I commented before even starting the video ❤️
All of your ideas!!!
Like your ideas. So inspiring. Thanks for sharing.😊
When we lived in military quarters we were not allowed to paint or wallpaper. What we did do to add design or color to a wall was take lengths of cloth, soak it in liquid starch and smooth on the wall. When we were transferred, we just peeled it off the wall and washed the walls down. We washed the material and used it again in our next set of quarters or for crafts.
Never heard of this - sounds cool. And it doesn't damage the painted wall? It doesn't seem like you could do this on a wall painted with flat paint.
@@mscalucas The paint that was used in quarters was washable. I’m not sure if it would hurt flat paint.
Heard about this technique years ago plus craft ideas... but liquid starch is hard to find anymore.
Attracts Roaches.
I would like to see a pic of that, if possible. Sounds like a cool thing to do.
If I had a property to rent…I hope it would be someone like her…..she could decorate anything she wanted., her ideas are lovely.
A free, great update to my property 😆
I'm actually an apartment complex manager, so anytime they are 'upgrading' a unit, but not going tacky, I'm ok with it. The owner is pretty flexible on that. (Thank goodness)
I actually recently just started this position and working on 'cleaning' the place up. (Better tenants, painting, cleaning up junk) So these ideas are actually amazing. I'm all for tenants doing any of these things. So I definitely recommend people talking to their landlord or property manager. ❤
I’m a renter. I like the idea of tension rods. I also like the tile for the balcony and peel n stick backsplash.

👍
As someone who has opening shelving in the kitchen.. Dont do it unless your hood/microhood vent OUTSIDE and doesnt just recirculate into the room. Or you'll have cooking grime on EVERYTHING
And dust!
And,,,, you have a lot of time to ,re-arrange,put them in a nice way( every day, every hour ,every moment 🙄 !
Dang really that bad? I was thinking Of doing this do my kitchen lol I have a small kitchen and wanted to open it up a bit.
@@Adventures.ofjenny you’ll have to dust your dishes a lot!
@@Adventures.ofjenny Try on a smaller area and see how you go with it.
Oooo I love the subject on this video! Although we bought, I still have such a renters mentality about “damaging” our house and putting holes in the walls! Great to see these tips!
Totally with you on that! These ideas can be for anyone🙌🏼🤍
We have owned our home 28 years and I still struggle with committing to hanging pictures.🤣
me too! lol

@@KristenMcGowando u have the name or link to those peel& stick grey tuscan looking tiles?
I’m a homeowner but can’t seem to stick to a theme long term so these ideas are great and allows me to change it up whenever I feel like it
Love the peel & stick ideas! Can you do a video showing removing them before moving out please? What to do to avoid damage and sticky residue. Thank you
Just peel them off and wipe any residue.
I’ve seen other creators put down painters tape as a base because painters tape always peels off easy without stickiness leftover
@@jaimies1902 that’s a great idea!!!
Thank you for the fantastic question that has been on my mind as well as a renter.
Moving into my first apartment next month, getting real excited to decorate
I prefer the old bathroom hardware. Love all your ideas.
I am so grateful that the more the time passes by, the more we find nice solution for renting, like peel and stick, knobs, outdoor tiling. Thanx for this list
Sara Nena DIY
Im moving into an apartment for the first time on my own and the first thing i did was ask basically can i paint? Can i hang things up? Whats my limit? And im glad i did! My lady said its my home do what i want as long as its painted back or patched(like hanging things) before we leave. Love it!
Love the peel and stick backsplash idea and updating my hardware. The kitchen space in my rental is outdated compared to the rest of the apartment so I think this could really elevate the space! Such great ideas!!
I’m a renter and the tension rods I’ve done before but looks like they come a long way. I like the ones that look like actual curtain rods but without effecting the walls or window frame. Also the patio /balcony stick-able flooring idea - Yes!!
I’ve changed my light fixtures in every apartment I’ve had. It’s an automatic feeling of home!
Love it. I'm a renter. I painted one of the bathrooms. It was a neon teal... now its agreeable gray and looks so much better. My other bathroom i used peel n stick faux wood tiles and painted the cabinet with chalk paint and changed out the hardware.
I just used a tension rod to put up curtains on my big bedroom window..and it totally changed the look of the room!! Big fat thumbs up to all the ideas.. I'm definitely gonna try these out!
I’m about to go from owning to renting, and these tips and tricks are excellent! I’m excited to get some awesome wallpaper for my room and my daughter room, tension rods for curtains, and possibly peel and stick tile! And an IKEA trip for some goodies 😍
I’m a renter and my apartment has huge windows that I love! I was going to get regular curtains but the tension rod is so smart! You’re saving me some patching time
In Modern Living Room Everyone Using "SoundProof Curtains" That Stops Outside Noise by 80% (25 Db) Tested. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
With anything peel and stick: Please do a test patch in a non-visible area (closet walls are great for this). Some cheaper paints will come off with even the best rated removable products (my friend learned this the hard way)
Exactly. This also will rip off drywall if the drywall wasn’t done properly.
I loveee the tape idea! Great for college students who don't have much time and takes little to no effort! Thanks!
Just don't use electrical tape. You'll end up with holes in the paint job
great ideas..my mind was blown with the temporary decking tiles and peel and stick floor tiles. i've been in my apartment going on years and its time to make some unique changes!
you are my new fave! Your voice is so chill and you know exactly what you're talking about. We sold our home and our renting after 7 years so it's been an adjustment. My kids and I watch your videos when we're cleaning before bed and I've learned so much. Keep them coming!
These are also good for hesitant decorators like me! We've been in this house 9 years and I've always been afraid to decorate with anything "permanent" because I worry that I'll change my mind or not like it in a week.😑😐😑
Yes, ADHD struggles lol! 🤦🏼♀️😂
I'm a renter & I've been at my place for 10 years. Not planning on moving any time soon, I'm blessed to have a great landlord that allows me to paint & hang stuff. I've been giving my apartment a facelift if you will lol, time to change things up after 10 years. I'm stuck with this hideous 70s peach tiles & black tile trim in 1 side of my kitchen wall that did not get redone when my kitchen was remodeled when I moved in. Looking forward on trying the peel & stick stickers! I just purchased replacement hardware for all my kitchen cabinets 🤩. You have given me some really great ideas! Love the tension rods, didn't know that was a thing 😒 Thank you!!
Peel and stick eventually gets tacky underneath. So when u remove them they leave stickiness and u will have to remove with rubbing alcohol. And then u will want to make sure to not ruin the paint.
Use a steamer. It takes it right off.
Goo-away (or any good adhesive remover) also works well to take the adhesive off, but not damage the paint. (I'd just do a small test in an unobtrusive corner, just to double check!)
But I get what you're saying, there are always some trade-offs/downsides to these kinds of DIY solutions that they don't mention, and you don't think about until they happen to you!
I did it to my cabinets and it didn’t come off well. It definitely left stickiness behind. And I work relentlessly to remove it. 😪
goo gone !
Peel and stick… hooks, tiles, wallpaper? All of it?
I own my home, but the ease of these improvements and the ability to switch them out of you get tied of it is very appealing!
Im using the peel and stick in my bathroom and both bedrooms. The cost of remodling your place the way you want it can be hefty, but worth it once its done. And im grateful to have a place to finally call my own.
I am a renter and my apartment has a little patio. I decorate it with a green carpet that simulate grass and some plants. Thanks for all your tips; I love your channel.
Dollar tree also has several peel and stick floor/wall tiles. The only possible drawback is that they don't always have them in store. And when you order online you have to buy a minimum of a case, which has 50 in it, but they can be shipped directly to your home. But at a dollar each, that's still a greatl deal! They're usually 12×12 or 12.5×12.74 depending on the style.
You could also talk to your landlord about changes you'd like to make, such as paint. A lot of times they'll approve because it's an upgrade to the property. Some will even give a rent discount depending on what you're doing/improving.
Be sure you get a signed agreement from the landlord. He could pass, get a divorce or just plain (conveniently) forget. You have proof and no arguments or loss of security deposit.
Renter but putting into the Universe Home Owner❣️
Considering the take off cabinet doors and peel & stick backsplash.
As a renter I totally transformed my space with the press and peel wallpaper and the changing of knobs on my vanity. My apartment already has modern knobs on things so I just had to change some of my portable closet hardware to match.
I also did the IKEA balcony flooring on my terrace but it was hard because the shape isn’t simple. I had to hire someone to hit those awkward corners.
We used the command hooks for brooms, turned them sideways and added a curtain rod. Works perfectly to hang curtains!
We added some under cabinet lighting to the kitchen and it COMPLETELY transformed the kitchen. It was blah before and now looks like an elegant custom kitchen.
I went from floor to ceiling with 3 sets of white billy book cases with glass and paneled fronts (from IKEA). All I had to do was attach to the wall with an L brackets, they come with the units to prevent tipping or accidents. Simple to fill a few holes when I leave. I have fantastic storage and display for my kitchen and dining area.
I rent and i just used some of the vinyl peel and stick flooring made my whole house feel different i love it i want to try the backsplash next
I love the idea of upgrading old hardware on all the cabinetry. I'm a renter and we will be moving from an apartment to a house next weekend so I'm so excited to see what ideas I come up with. I may just ask if we can paint an accent wall as long as we paint it back. If not then I love the idea of the peel and stick wall paper and flooring. Thanks again for another awesome video!!!
I'm moving in a bigger space in a few weeks (hopefully !) and I CANNOT WAIT to do every single tips you shared ! ;) Thanks !
Ok I’ve watched probably 60 apartment diy videos and this is BY FAR the best one. So many actually useful ideas!! Thank you! I will be using all of these!
Omg!! You keep knocking them out of the park! Love these rental tricks! If you think of more, please keep them coming :) Love your channel!!
I got those IKEA wooden tiles last year for my balcony, and it totally changed the look! I love it!
Thank you so much for sharing on these great ideas I'm a renter but I'm buying the condo im renting towards the end of this year and I am on a strict budget being a senior citizen and those open cabinets are a great alternative instead of ordering more or having to tear out & add shelving, just really taking off the face of them and then just follow the backsplash all the way up to the ceiling if I want and put them in the back of the cabinets to where it kind of looks like it's a shelf attached to the backsplash what a great idea Thank you so much all your ideas are so simple and you don't make anything difficult thank you so much again for sharing🥰⚘❣
I love the peel and stick backsplash idea and the peel and stick floor tile! I can’t wait to try it!
I’m not a renter, but I am on a budget and I’m going to cover my floor tile with peel n stick tile. TY
Why didn't I think of this stuff! Love the tension rod idea! You're amazing!
I’ll love to try those Decking tiles in a section of my backyard
I have a rooftop and a deck patio at my home. Looking on how to make both spaces feel more like a usable and homey space. Just have basics, grills on both, 6 seat rectangle table on roof and bistro on patio, gas firepit on roof with seating around it. Feel like areas are lacking life.
Love your videos!
Thanks Kristan for that useful renter friendly home decor ideas. I am not a renter but I found very practical the idea with stick removable wallpaper which I can replace my old wallpaper.
Please make a video about most comfortable beds models and places where I can buy, because my old one is very uncomfortable.
I love the look of self adhesive window film. It works great to add privacy, hide a less than desirable view, and still allows plenty of natural light into the space. It's clean, inexpensive and easy to use. So many patterns out there too, something to please everyone.
I never thought to hide an undesirable view this way. Nice idea.
Best little investment ever. In Amazon I got the most beautiful and cheapest adhesive windows film. It's a life changer.
This is very helpful. I'll definitely try some of tips you have shared in our new rental apartment. Thanks for doing this video. God bless you! 😊
My favorite idea is the patio floor stick on tiles. I am going to look into doing that for my lanai.😘
Peel and stick tiles are also great if you're building a tiny house-- it makes a massive difference in the weight!
Like in my tiny house bathroom, I really wanted tiles on both the walls and the floor, but real tiles would have just been far too heavy.
Renters and I appreciate these tips. Never would have thought there are so many possibilities!!!
That's one of my favorite easiest tricks...tension rods!
Litterally just drilled just for curtains... and i didnt have too!!!
My best hack for rental space so far has to be the 3M Command strips. No holes needed to hang portraits or mirrors.
I just got my first rental in so long and I really like your tip, I think I'll try find some peel and stick a and changing the handled on the cupboards that's a great idea 💡 thanks
I can't thank you enough for these rental decorating tips. I'm going out today to buy the peel and stick backsplash. I adore you and your vids. I'm a sub, have been for a while. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I just 💕loved💕 loved💕 loved💕 loved 💕loved💕 loved💕 loved💕 this video💕.and this video will definitely helps me a lot. 💖Thank you so much ❤ exited to watch your video 💖
I used shiplap wallpaper for my kitchen island and it looks great!!!!
I am moving into a new home and there are awful net curtains up. Tension rods have answered what I can do! And I also like the removal of door hardware! Yes there are dated single handles. I also found some on Amazon! Thank you so much for this video! Xxx
On walls you can use fabric soaked in liquid starch. Pattern sheets are an inexpensive beautiful solution.
I wish I cud like this video a THOUSAND times over!!!! Just loveeeeeeeeeeee everything u talked abt!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Your hair looks gorgeous
Thank you!!
I think so too. Loving it
Always love your excellent, quality tips and information!
Loved this video and your hair looks AMAZING 😃 thank you for your positive vibes!!
Thanks for your videos ! I'm binge watching today. It just gave me so many ideas and really motivate me to do my home nicer. Thank you !
U can get peel n stick watersplash at the dollar tree! Works gr8. I cut that(coffee theme) n use around my coffee bar..looks cute
Great ideas girl !! Thanks for sharing , you have great decor skills !!
Will definitely do the no doors in the kitchen, thank you for the idea!
i never thought to take off the cabinet doors ! so happy i found this video!!!!!!
I’m actually a homeowner but don’t have a backsplash in my kitchen. I’m going to look into peel and stick tiles for sure. Thanks!
Hi Susan ..can I ask if the brand is called peel and stick ? Lots on line but am unsure of a good brand ? Thanks from Au
I hope you are into interior decorating because your tips are great. I have been wanting to do the backsplash in my kitchen…..you gave me some pretty cool ideas.
Thank you kristen! This is great information to have for my first apartment!!
I didn't know there was peel and stick floor tile, I am *so excited* you have no idea. I'm gonna do my kitchen!
The tension rods and the peel and stick wall paper ideas are my favourite
I like them all, and hope to start with changing handles and tension rods 😄
I think I'm going to do the cabinet trick, we have a random cabinet in our living room (kitchen and living room are combined) and we need a place to put knicknacks/books. Sounds like a cute way to do it.
Also, small word of warning with peel and stick wallpaper: do your research. My fiance and I thought about doing it, but a lot of the ones I saw said they shrunk on the wall, or didn't stick well because of temperature changes
I love your sweater and whole look! So chic. Also great tips!
Muchas gracias!!! Estos consejos están grandiosos🌞🌻🌼
I am so glad I found your channel I just bought a house and you have given me so many great ideas!
Loved the idea of taking off cabinet doors. Love open shelving. Thsnks!
The issue with switching things like light fixtures and hardware and taking doors off is that you have to have somewhere to store those things until you put them back before moving out again. A lot of apartments are too small to store all that stuff .
You are absolutely right! I am in my first ever apartment and it's a bit small with only one closest to store stuff in. So that little detail it a bit hard to do when you have barely to no closet space
Ha I love that I’ve been doing most of these things already just from being broke/lazy 😆
SUPERB site! Great info, concise, do-able. Thank you!
These are great idea. Thank you so much. Painting a little area was my favorite. I wish I found this video sooner haha
OMG I love your hair, it's so beautiful.
We rent a flat in downtown Macau with huge sliding doors and I installed "magnetic" nonstick plastic decor and it's totally amazing. The apartment also came with built-ins and I just changed the cabinet pulls and it really transformed the look. I didn't think I could use electrical tapes to decorate too..that sounds so much fun to do thanks a lot!
From one Canadian to another, I love your channel and especially this video
I like the wood tile for the balcony.
Hi Kristen, love all these ideas! Can you actually use backsplash a wooden wall? And peel & stick on a wooden countertop? Will I have any difficulty taking them out after 2 to 3 years?
I love all the ideas. I will definitely be doing some in my place. Love your channel.
I'm a renter and this video is awesome, now I can make my rental home my own
This is so Awesome... I am currently looking for an apt and this gives me so many ideas... another idea someone told me, if it has the vertical blinds, take them down and add the tension rod w/ curtain...
Great 👍🏾 tips. I really like the decking tiles. Thank you.
Great tips THANK YOU! had no idea there was such a variety of tension rods out there!
Love the backsplash tiles!
Maybe the peel and stick for like an accent wall. Loved your ideas!
renting a small 800sq ft town house that has a back patio. can't wait to try many of your ideas!
We have rental apt. They offered 1 accent wall on our 1st lease renewal for free n with our choice of color! I chose ginger/hazelnut orange accent wall in my living room...love it! I love fall but i m from AZ..so, the fall color on my wall...
Missed this one so liked that i found it now. Liking the tips 💕😍😘
