    thanks for the video. i can't tell what the materials are like, do you think it would be possible to drill into it to add a couple tie downs points? I wouldn't use them for anything crazy heavy. most likely couple pairs of skis or an inflatable paddleboard or two during. memorial day trips the two seasons overlap and i take both with plus camping gear for 4 people. so i'm looking to add the option for storage on top of a tri fold cover for those seldom times the covered bed isn't enough

    I bought a new 2018 Ridgeline and had the dealer install the Tonneau Cover. It always leaks water. Called the dealer and was told it is not waterproof/leakproof. Today I noticed light in both forward corners. They may be drain holes. Thinking about caulking them. Do you have a better solution?

    • @CampingRandy
      @CampingRandy  2 года назад +1

      Just make soured it is pushed forward, so tabs are touching brackets. To not over tighten front brackets. You may get a little water but should run down can wall and exit base. Let me know. I have a few questions regarding these tonneau covers.
    1. Will water collect and create rust under your side composite bed pieces (that you removed)?
    2. My tonneau leaks water in the back by the rear windshield. Is it possible the flap on the rear isn’t in the correct place? Should it be tucked in or let out?

    • @CampingRandy
      @CampingRandy  3 года назад

      1. No - it’s all painted.
      2. Just make sure you have it slid all the way towards the cab, and hand tighten the front clamps - good and snug. You can also crawl in there (use a friend) close everything up and look for light leaks.

  • @klink370
    @klink370 2 года назад +1

    It appears to me that your Tonneau Cover is not installed correctly and will probably leak more than it should as a result. I say that after purchasing the OEM Tonneau Cover for my 2022 Ridgeline and having a difficult time installing it myself. The issue is apparent when I look at your video from about the 3:12 - 3:35 section. You have placed the brackets coming down from the cover BEHIND the front brackets that are mounted to the bed. This does not allow the front gasket to mate with the top of the bed liner as it should. The installation sheet for the product shows the brackets coming down from the cover to be installed BETWEEN the front of the bracket which is mounted to the pickup bed and the front, inside edge of the pickup bed. In other words, the cover should be mounted approximately 1/2 inch more toward the front of the vehicle, at least that's the way it appears to me. However, I am unable to get mine to go into that slim space due to there is a rubber cap on the end of the bracket that is too fat and prevents the cover from seating all the way down. When I try to pry off the rubber cap it appears to be glued in place so I am not sure if the rubber cap should remain in place or if it was just put there for protection during shipment. As it is a Saturday I drank a few cool ones while pondering my dilemma and decided to postpone the installation until early next week after hopefully getting tech support clarification from Honda. There are rubber caps on the pieces that secure the sides at the front as well and I am not clear on whether they need to be removed or not as they pry right off. What appeared to be an easy installation that should take maybe 20 minutes tops has turned into a puzzle for me. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I have a new truck and I want to be confident I've installed it correctly. I imagine I could force the brackets into place with the rubber covers still on but then it would be more difficult to remove the cover it I ever wanted to remove it completely. Can you please take a look at yours and see if what I say here makes any sense as I may not be explaining what I'm seeing very well and heck, I may be overlooking something very simple. Thanks in advance.
