That was an awesome podcast. Been trying to get my peers in Utah to become free thinkers and challenge the status quo through questioning and experimenting.
I like teaching the whole foot feeling for new - advance beginners but will be playing with the floating heel (I think I do this to much in my own skiing 😂) going into intermediate and above.
    Great podcast.

    Very Interesting !
As an instructor here in the U.S., I always depended upon the knowledge that I had gained through my studies in Physiology and Kinesiology of exercise to help ground me during my 27 year teaching career. There were times that PSIA deviated from sound biomechanics, but soon the pendulum would swing back to center. It's hard to reinvent the wheel . . . especially when it is already round .

Finally…a collective collaboration of like minded pros working to promote a wholistic educational model with mindful intent, exploring multiple perspectives and at times challenging the status quo is key for our industry’s evolution.
Having been through certification programs in Austria, Australia and America I am thinking I might like to add a PSIC cert as well👍

I had a quite conservative view on PSIC but I think my view my start thawing. It's interesting to hear all fine tuning talks. However, I think while it's quite easy to train a motivated young ski instructor up to level 3, there is no one here to be able to train a motivated older adult (maybe with a couple of previous ski injuries) to the very same level. I wonder if there is some recognition of this situation exists within PSIC.

Thanks Tom, great questions! I would love to know more, are they ISIA recognized or just self recognized? Will they have an interski team?
It is quite interesting that Mark and Guy talk about culture early on in the interview and how inclusion and diversity is a culture that they are proud of. None of their leadership/ownership are women or BIPOC? I wonder if this is just lip service?
Not really a skiing related comment I realize, but a statement on this business's core 'beliefs' it rings a bit hollow if they don't actually lead from top. Skiing is already dominated by white males, and 5 white men starting an 'inclusive and diverse' ski instructor qualification body doesn't look either of those things. The GOAT skier on the world cup is a women...

Thank you for your comments which highlight an important area for continuous growth and reflection. It’s absolutely a journey and diverse representation in the ski industry is not going to change overnight. Our commitment to diversity and inclusivity is foundational to the culture we are dedicated to building, and here are a few things that hopefully show we are headed in the right direction:
Our Industry Steering Committee has four females, including the Committee Chair.
We have strong representation of female trainers amongst our Licensed Professional Trainer community (LPT Collective).
We are seeing very strong participation from females in our membership base and course registrations, and we feel that is reflective of our supportive approach and inclusive values.
We are in discussions with the founder of an association that provides opportunities for the female BIPOC community to access the outdoors on ways we can support.
We are partnered with Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) on education and alignment opportunities.
You specifically highlight leadership/ownership, so I thought I would also mention we do have a female on the ownership group (I’m writing this response to you now 😊) but I have business/marketing pedigree not a ski pedigree and prefer to stay in the background.
And that’s just a short list of the components we are excited about in year 1! Happy to have a further conversation on this. Contact us at info@psic.pro.
PS - we agree Mikaela is the GOAT!!!
