Thank you, Sr. Martha, for sharing your thoughts about such a classic Christmas song. For many of us, we can be lulled into a sense of routine around Christmas. We tend to view the songs and pageantry around the holiday as mere perfunctory exercises, devoid of meaning. Its always nice to hear someone who has devoted their life to Christ, like you, really emphasize the profundity of the lyrics. I am sure I am not the only one who has gotten into the habit of reciting such beautiful words without truly thinking about it. Your commentary reminds me to be more deliberative about the words that come out of my mouth - whether I am singing a song about Jesus or praying to him.

Her presentation is ideal when there is no direct conflict occurring at the moment, to envision the presence of Christ in the Church!❤ I recall just a few years ago however on Christmas day or Easter or both in Jerusalem, a bomb exploding in the Church during the Mass, and there were deaths resulting. It is then difficult, impossible to envision Christ standing there smiling.😢
Surely Jesus was not always sad looking, but there is no actual record in Sacred Scripture of Jesus smiling, but there is Scripture of him weeping over his own prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem. (that was fulfilled in 70AD).
