Little trick for you, for cooking potatoes with aluminium foil, I put a metal kabob skewer in them leaving space between the potatoes so the metal gets heat, it cooks them faster. Hope this helps!
I used to have a folding frame with 4 metal spikes for cooking baked potatoes on using the same principle. It was great until it broke, years before it was easy to take a photo and search for something. So I never managed to replace it
I don't normally comment twice, but I just have to say I could seriously watch an entire movie length episode of these snowy adventures. You do an excellent job at editing, and balance these just right.
I'm sorry but watching you fight with the tarp made laugh so hard that my side hurt and I cried. After my cardiologist told me there isn't anything left we can do and I don't have much time left, I really needed to laugh that hard. So thank you!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Watching your videos is both fun and informative. I don't know if anyone talks much about it, but your camera work is awesome. It must be a lot of work to get all of those angles to make us feel like we are in the action, you make it look effortless, a sign you're doing a great job.
I love the editing Jay. The moment after you say "I sure wouldn't' want to be out traveling in this tonight" you cut to you traveling on the lake, in the dark, in the storm, on your snow machine. Perfect! Just something about the tent vids that are so comforting. Thanks Jay!
I was having the crappiest morning dealing with some serious family health concerns. Then I jumped on RUclips and found your new video. My mood is instantly better. Thank you! By the way, Jay, your production skills are top-notch. Well done!!!
I am from India. I watch your each and every video of yours. I never thought anyone can survive this kind of cold . You are really brave to be out there showing us the coldest side of the world which i can only enjoy virtually. ❤ Lots of love to you. Stay healthy and enjoy snow ❄️🌨️. God bless you.
Thank Jay, this was so much fun. But way too cold for me. I really look forward to your camping trips. I love that tent because it’s so roomy. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🙋🏻♀️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️💖⛄️🙏
Thank you so much Jay for sharing. Until your videos, I didn't think a person could breathe such cold frigid air. I know you eat well too. I always have to have a snack while watching your program, and a pencil for writing down what you might be cooking that's of interest to me that day. Thank You❤❤❤❤
Poke holes in the potatoes with a fork. Coat them in a bit of oil. Put them in a pan and cook 25 ish minutes per side. Put the foil over the pan if you're doing them I the wood stove
You are right about the sleeping bags being more than the sum of their ratings if they are put one in another. There is an interstitial layer between the two bags that acts as an insulator as well if it's closed at the top. Trapped air is the basis for most insulation! (foam, fiberglass, polyester, down, fleece, wool, etc)
Thanks, Jay, another great episode! Thanks for showing us the struggles, and successes - love the way you work through all of the challenges. Take care, Paul
Really enjoyed that video. When you tackle jobs on your own it reminds me of myself. Its great to have help but when you accomplish a job on your own its very satisfying. Keep the videos coming.
Great video Jay! Driving in a snowstorm on a snowmobile is no joke. My grandfathers best friend drove his skidoo off a cliff trying to get home in a storm one night and sadly passed away. As always I'm looking forward to the next video. Cheers
Always a treat when your videos pop up. Even when I'm in my warm and cozy den I can almost feel those frigid Canadian temps. Also some fantastic flyovers with the drone.
So far, I would say that this tent was worth every penny you paid for it. It even has a dependable look to it. Very enjoyable video. Stay safe and warm, my friend.
Hi Jay from Vermont! Enjoy your content and am a faithful follower. I use a cordless Milwaukee leaf blower to dust off light, dry snow. Works like a charm. Keep up the great work!
Good morning Jay and everyone i found your channel a year ago i enjoy your content and look forward to your videos when you post them great content i commend you for what you do with your cabin and tent ⛺️ 😊🙏🏽
As always Jay, amazing content… you help us “feel like we’re there” with your great camera work/angles. Your an inspiration to all us RUclipsrs watching every video. Much respect sir, wishing you and your family Merry Christmas 🎄 and a very prosperous New Year 🎉 ✌️😎🇨🇦
I am always blocking out light from the city I live in, and I would love to experience darkness like that of a northern snow storm. Amazing. Thanks Jay for sharing these adventures with us, who cannot go there ourselves ( it's on my bucket list for sure to see the northern territories).
I know that you were working hard to get that fly on the tent. I am so sorry that I laughed so hard when the wind blew it off a couple of times. It was the "The winds blowing... Nooooo!!!" that got me.
We've been lost a couple of times in snow storms on the bay here in Labrador. One of the nights lost it was -35c. Scary but luckily, we found our way in the end!
Great video again Jay. You’re a real testament to Northerners of Canada ! Well done ! Now catch some Fish and fry em up, in a cast iron frying pan, on that stove. ❄️🌲🇨🇦
It was nice seeing that the tent made it through the storm. And keeped you warm and toasty. Eating a great meal. Hope you're taking your meds. Now lets see how the cabin can withstand a wild storm! 👍👍👍
Love this video. I'm a die hard winter person. Love being at cabin in the conditions like you have there now .we are still waiting for snow in Central NL. Im very anxious to get the snowmobile going and moving through the country on a fresh blanket of snow. Thanks .
Hey Jay, Great job putting up the new canvas tent. Its great you didnt have to alter the existing wooden frame. We look forward to watching every video and glad to see them every week now. The land around the cabin and tent reminds me so much of our home in Labrador. I do miss the minus cold temps, here in western NL, a cold day is -10. take care bud
Hi Jay i miss that kind being at my cottage in winter in Saguenay up North of Chicoutimi ( Zec Onatchiway) now i live in Québec City. I'm a veteran, 61 and now i do bit of wood work for fun. Keep doing what you love. Jean-Yves Arseneault
Such beautiful drone footage! I moved to Florida from N.H. for 40+ … Moved back for good at Christmas time in 2022 and my favorite time is winter surrounded by my mountains, lakes, and trees! I’m close to 80 now but have no regrets. While we will not sustain the same temps and storms as you, we are heading into winter and our second snowstorm of this season… beginning its Wednesday Thursday pattern… Love your channel, Jay and love how you love the cold winter snows! ❄️☃️🌬️
The front flap / lit'l awning... maybe cut about 2" diameter long sticks ... put bottom of stick / pole near tent at ground, fix top of pole to that flap... use rope to guy out about a foot or so angle which will hold it out. This will keep the ice / ice sicles away from origional tent material and preserve its life longer. Will also be easy to knock off the hanging icicles. Just for thought. I know you don't want guy ropes extending way out from tent (trip hazard) love your videos ! Can't get enough ❤❤❤❤
Wow Jay!! Another successful stay at the tent!! I saw your first toss go into the trees!! I said oh no not the tree!! But you did good. I am so jelly over that steak and baked potato!! Yummy ! Stay safe and warm..
Great video Jay! Have you thought about folding over the canvas tent “extension flap” over the top fly sheet to prevent wind and securing either side? Just a thought while watching. Great video keep up 👍🫶
I love that you are willing to share the good, the bad, and the ugly 😉 with us, and your good humor with us. Great video, Jay❣️❣️
Thanks! It’s all part of the experience.
You are a testament to the phrase “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again” your determination is contagious. Thank You

I like the fact that you let me see the difficult times as well as the good. I guess that makes it reality videos
Thanks for this comment, I really appreciate it

My Mom would put a big nail in potatoes. I guess we didn’t have skewers!
@@Akbashlover
I used to use a gutter nail that worked great
- Great idea thanks!. I'm assuming metal right? 😊❤
I don't normally comment twice, but I just have to say I could seriously watch an entire movie length episode of these snowy adventures. You do an excellent job at editing, and balance these just right.

Looks completely comfortable at your tent, enjoy the camp, love your videos..🥰🇨🇦🥰
I love the feeling of a fire on cold moist wool gloves as it evaporates the water and you feel the radiative heat and steam.
Thanks!

Stunningly beautiful snowscapes. Looks like you had an amazing experience ❤
Great! The tent adventures are why I subscribed to your channel.
MOLD??? In that low of temperature... WOW!!!! I would have never thought of that !!!!! Good Tip !!!
The mold would be in spring and summer when it thaws.
There is something special about a first snow of the season. So beautiful at the tent or cabin in all seasons
Thank you for the wonderful video. Pure joy to watch as always. Let the druids in the forest nearby keep you warm and safe!
Love the tent videos, just something about the tent and the crazy cold temps. Good one Jay!
Thank You Jay
Happy Wednesday Canada 🇨🇦🏕👍👍👍👍✌️

I don’t know if the batteries would last in the cold that he gets there….they tend to die off very quickly. 😊 I wish we had winters more like yours….
Amazing video Jay, so happy for you…

Glad everything worked out and you had a good time. The scenery was great too.
I didn’t want to leave the tent but you just had to take us out into the storm, didn’t you. lol
That wasn't a bear that ripped the old tent. That was Mr. Beaver when he found out you took his trees that he cut down !!! lol
Jay you have delivered another awesome video, thanks for bringing us along

Thank you so much for a beautiful video. Wow soooo cold but yet you had the perfect protection. Take care
Why do I love his videos so much when I hate the cold and snow? Was I from northern Canada 🇨🇦 in a different life? 😂😂😂😂
Looks like the new tent is going to make a great difference in your over nite experience.🇺🇸🐻
I know that you were working hard to get that fly on the tent. I am so sorry that I laughed so hard when the wind blew it off a couple of times. It was the "The winds blowing... Nooooo!!!" that got me.
Haha. I’m glad you liked the video
I have to say that between my snacking and shivers I cant get enough of your videos. Thanks 😊

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thanks Jay for the effort you have taken to enable us take a trip to your tent. Take care…
Tent looks cozy, that fly will help prolong the tent for sure😊
