I've got the 500W but I use the Orange 1x15...SERIOUS power...Amazing amp. I wish they had never discontinued it...It's really easy to carry, sounds massive and sounds great...I don't use pedals at all...Don't need any.
I'm running a Terror 500 head and SP212 cabinet with a Fender Aerodyne bass and I gotta tell you...I've never been happier with a bass rig. Portable and powerful...my single 12" tube combo guitar amp weighs a LOT more. Originally I had a GK Fusion 550 head with the SP212 but the GK crapped out. The local amp repair shop said that was typical of GK's..and they hardly ever saw Orange bass amps come in except to replace or diagnose a faulty tube.
I have the 500W as well, but I run it through the OBC 115 (with Rickenbacker 4003)..I've been wanting to try the SP212...is it powerful enough to play clubs?
@Blackened1993 There is a cut away cabinet on the right that shows how it's made. It's a 4x10 in the space of a 2x10 because 2 speakers are behind the front 2.
bought one of these yesterday and it has an awesome range of tone, but none of that is really covered here . tested it against Ampeg Hartke and Ashdown heads and while I played each of those for about twenty minutes each, I payed this last and about thirty seconds was enough to tell it was a no brainer. With that much effected and processed sound, you could pretty much play it through any amp it would sound the same..
@EscpdFrmPsykward Tone issues. We just can't get the Tiny Terror to remain true to it's core tone with an FX loop. The Thunder 30 will have an FX loop though, and those will be priced in the $1100 range.
@dcdossett65 Agreed! I have the ZVex Woolly Mammoth, who actually sounds way more acid and angry than the mastotron. My Terror Bass and SP212 just arrived from the UK!!! HOOOORAAAAYYYY!!!
Why does the Bass Terror get an effects loop but the Tiny Terror doesn't? Unless that's a new feature Orange will be including in the next series of TT amps. ;-) Honestly an effects loop is all the TT is missing. That is the deciding factor in the next amp I buy.
man how are you getting killer tone out of this one, cus the one i tried was punchy and rockish yes, but versitle no, gainy was the only tone i could get
so what saying is the pedals come with the amp? one has nothing to do with the other - you should perhaps describe what speakers you were matched with to sell the head not play with effects
@nunyabidnez2011 Have you heard the Thunder Verb head or the AD200? Doesn't sound like "ass". The fliptop Ampeg re-issue is obsecenly over priced, and Ampeg have gone majorly down hill in recent years. Orange have a top notch customer services and relations as well as artist relations. Key differences in sound are Orange sound british, ampeg sound American and that's down to taste, i like and have used both!
This video isn't the least bit helpful in terms of showing me what the Terror Bass amp is capable of. But hey, at least I know how one setting of an Eventide stompbox sounds when played with a fretless through this head.
Playing fretless takes precision you just have to hit the right spot. The guy just can't play the fretless… misses lots of notes and for the demonstration… I think there are better amps out there. I for one prefer Ampeg.
Sucks when companies think it's okay to let guitarists do crappy demos of their bass products. Arrogant and thoughtless, and really crappy marketing. Shame on you Orange, your products are great but your attitude to bassists isn't.
he cant play fretless... I've played fretless for all of two weeks and it sounds better than the crap he was churning out... on a squier p bass special 5 with 3 year old strings... that I made fretless myself...
I own the Bass terror 500 with the Orange OBC 115 1X15. My main bass is a Rickenbacker 4003 and I use a Zoom B3 with a Sansamp style setting and slight muff setting for distortion if I want it. I love this setup. SERIOUS roar with this stuff, Thick full sound, very simple, a minimum of knobs-All I need. Trust me, the amp sounds great-I finally got a chance to put it through its paces onstage (and even a guest bass player for a song)and everyone complimented me on the sound, and the guest bass player loved it too. Worked for hard rock, blues and ballads just fine, Cheers.

I'm diggin' the Terror Bass guys. When I start building my home studio, this will probably be the first amp I get for recording bass. Cheers.

"You don't even need to add effects to this amp, so now let's add some effects to it"

The core amp tone sounds nice, but why fill your demo with a bunch of tones from peripheral stomp boxes?
thanks man i appreciate it
Marcus Miller - Frankenstein on the fretless bass? love that song!

What model of Tobais bass was that at 1:38? Thing thing growls like no other! I must have one! lol

Doug ,what make frettless are you playing?
...Awesome.
How long should you let the tubes*** warm up and cool down?
was he playing frankenstien by edgar winter?
what was that fretless bass he was playing?
what bass is that? the fretless one
how would this amp sound with a guitar?
bass terror on guitar?
Maybe orange would like professionals selling their gear not some knob...or an actual bass player

... never quite hit the notes on the fretless... very unfortunate.

nice earing
never got a gig bag when i purchased this 10 years ago T_T had to repair damages because no bag T_T love my orange terror T_T need bag pls
@tfugnick That might be true, but playing with fx is more fun. :) For me, anyway.
im pretty sure dude called that 2x10 or 2x12 a 4x10 - the thing is barely a foot tall
The cab has 4 speakers, 2 of them each are paired behind each other. Their 212 cab does the same, just looks like a 112
Pedals? Should have shown the gain levels of the amp, screw the pedals. I'd like to see how she sounds when you drive her.
@MrUnseenBucket yeah man this is a head not a combo
love the amp never really like that mastrotron.
Tubes don't "cool off" when in standby.
if only they weren't so expensive...
the second effect on the fretless sounds awful in my opinion

@tfugnick Horseshit. Effects get you a sound you want, it doesn't make you "worse". IF you want reverb you can't somehow mimic it with your playing.
watch him play guitar... you'll eat your words
It's certainly a nice amp but I didn't hear anything that you could call "Terror Bass".
It's powerful. When I gig, I've never needed the volume past 11 o'clock. Pretty sure I could knock down a mountain with this thing.
"nice."
3:17 sounds like shit in a dishwasher
@meokanako a pre-lawsuit Ibanez Fretless p bass,

who cares about the pedals?
Is it me or does it really Sound like shit
@EscpdFrmPsykward
Because bass is better than guitar. ;)
Overpriced. limited functionality i.e no filters, no compressor, weak distortion from what i can hear
That fretless sounds terrible.
he cant play fretless... I've played fretless for all of two weeks and it sounds better than the crap he was churning out... on a squier p bass special 5 with 3 year old strings... that I made fretless myself...
Wow really? he just played varitions of cover songs this guys not a very good bassist
the worst demo I have ever seen. No change in EQ at all.
That was a truly horrible demo... either you chose the wrong dude, or that amo sounds like shit.

what a worthless demo
