I got it in weddingday present, then we bought a house so it is in storage, cat wait till after the move so i can play it again, this time with no neighbours.
Holy crap, this is one nice combo. I've always loved Orange's amp sounds. I feel like this would be good for Sludge/Stoner Metal of you put a Big Muff pedal on this.
Orange is a great company as well as ampeg for cheap GOOD and SUPER CONVENIENT for musicians on a budget, and can totally gig out with and still sound AWESOME... bought a 100 watt black orange bass crush 🤘🏼 super excited to get it soon!!!
Oh man that was so fuzzy! Love Smashing Pumpkins! Cherub Rock just lends itself to distortion doesn't it?! Just needed a sleeveless dirty flannel shirt over a thermal, Doc Martins, torn jeans & glove to complete that disheveled 90s devil may care grungy feel. Totally agree, like the convenience of combos, but having the tonal possibilities to separate heads & cabs just helps dial in that juicy sound your ear is jonesing for. Plus they just look a lot sexier. Great little amp though, gotta love the classic orange tolex & logo. Just takes ya back to those classic 70s rock bands. I find the pick attack when digging in vs. fingers seems to amp up the aggression of these ticked off aghast ridden 90s grunge songs. Rock On Scott!
Magnificent demo. I was curious about that mid freq. and gain blending knob functions, and you managed to present it all positively swiftly, with some really appealing sound altogether. I have been thinking about getting the VOX VX50BA amplifier, but now I need to consider whether or not I want to sacrifice the portability of Vox and get the beautiful sound of this a-bit-less-wieldy box instead...
Hi all. In the manual says that the pad button is for basses with active pickups. Well, I have passive pickups with an internal preamp. Shoud I turn on the PAD?
Yo Scott......As a former Fender Rep I'm well aware that Preconceived Notions of what "Clique" an amp company is supposed to appeal to is Vitally important...HOWEVER....did I happen to say...HOWEVER.....???? I did! This little Baby is good for EVERYONE....not just "Metal People" ..... the "assumed " users of Orange products. This amp has every Feature that anyone could possibly want....including the built in Tuner, Headphone jack, a pad to allow it to work VERY nicely with active or passive basses and the points that you've so righteously covered make the Crush 50 one of the Nicest sounding and most Versatile amps I've ever Owned ! I do HIGHLY recommend getting the "Optional" foot pedal as well. Although it's Expensive it's worth every Dime. #bassilicious Great Review....as Always. 🎩
Just unpacked it yesterday. It's my first amp and my god are these things heavy. It's not a big deal since it won't be leaving my apartment but it was quiet the exercise getting this thing out of THREE boxes. Not a scratch though.
Smashing Pumpkins was my first ever live show. I was either 12 or 13 years old. It was awesome and was a big part of what got me into actually playing music. That was about 20 years ago now.
I was think of getting the 100w 15. Do you think it would work on stage? I would be tied into the to house as well. Our band plays mostly Country R&B & Funk.
Why is there a buzzing sound present throughout the video ? Is this amp not strong enough, should I go for the 100W one ? How does it sound while recording through the DI out, is it clean ? Cmon Scott you have tried these amps out, help a brotha out !
Hey Scott. I was think of getting the 100w 15. Do you think it would work on stage? I would be tied into the to house as well. Our band plays mostly Country R&B & Funk.
What is the difference between a combo amp and amp heads? Is it that the head is a separate part that you could plug in into any speaker and play like that and the combo is the speaker and the head in one?
Also with the Amps & Ohms, be sure that the speaker cab is meant for bass. The low end of bass guitars & bass amps will overpower & blow out most guitar speakers. I love the tonal possibilities of being able to choose separate heads & speaker cab combos. Especially when chasing that tone you've been jonesing for. Take for instance my 15 watt Ashdown CTM15 practice amp. I love the sound of pushing an old school power valve/tube amp to the point it starts to break up & distort organically. Unlike a distortion peddle or boosting the gain which always seems to boost the treble & kill the bottom end booty, I turn down the gain on the preamp valve for a supper clean sound & boost the power valve (volume) gives me all that growling bottom end distortion at volumes that won't rattle the entire neighborhood (the house goes without saying, ha!)
Now normally conventional thinking would simply pair this low wattage valve practice amp to a 10" or even a 8" speaker in a combo. By having the ability to pair it up to any cab, I'm able to plug into a 15" speaker cab. Totally unexpected & unconventional. The result is it takes those lows even lower and makes my low watt practice set up really rumble without having to deal with the authorities as they respond to neighbor noise complaints. Great for rock, R&B, pop & reggae. For jazz, slap, funk and more articulate playing I can plug the amp into a 10" for greater definition. As cabs are less expensive then combos it helps open up more tonal possibilities with less investment. You can take your amp & bass and tryout a ton of cabs until you find that tone your looking for. The key is the Bass & Amp match up. Get that totally dialed in before looking at cabs. Good luck bro & keep shedding.
My apologies for forgetting two other points you might want to pass along to Orange. The Crush 100 would be a much better sounding amp with 2 12's instead of a single 15. Yup...It'd be a few inches bigger...and Covers would be nice....but I can't think of another combo that would be able to Touch it, Feature wise. #bassilicious. Bass-ically Yours, RB
Nah, the O100 is a lot heavier. It's old school. The newer amps are lighter and more powerful than the furniture Crush 100 Amp. They have 250 to 500 amps .
I have the previous model of this, it's super great for practice and recording. Didn't do to well playing at a show though, but to be fair I play punk lol
Scott it is a great bass combo its october 2020 and just found out this amp right now only 2 bass combos like this is $299;`and Hartke HD 50 bass combo $199 trying to find cl9ses to 90s Vox T 60 bass combo great amp any help
From what I could gather, this particular amp is ideal for bedroom practice/rehearsal gigs. Probably better off going with the 100w version if you have small venues in mind.
Now I need that exact amp, its to late wanted to use make stereo guitar rig plus some bass this vox t60 combo 90s this use carvin legacy tube preamp up front for guitar EHX grand canyou with expression pedal has stereo outs plus ping ponging ability 2 speakers bass combos allow me to get far better seperation, build potentiometer in pedal to control L R swells
hemelgindo perez he made a vid on it but long story short he has a condition that makes his fingers move uncontrollably when they are stretched but when they are touched by something it makes it stop
are you guys done commenting repeatedly that this is a Smashing Pumpkin song? Like 40 comments how you recognize the song! Yay good job. Move on, no one cares. This is about the Orange Crush 50 Amp. Talk about that!
Hey Scott, just wondering if you'd do anymore song breakdowns? I think ones like Talulah - Jamiroquai would work well because of the way it runs around the fret board.
Thank you again Scott, ordered mine this morning, but in black. You Sir, are the reason I'm playing again.
I got it in weddingday present, then we bought a house so it is in storage, cat wait till after the move so i can play it again, this time with no neighbours.
gain without the struggle of gaining volume. That thing right there is a gamechanger for me
I've entered, my 13 year old brother is such a talented bass player and I'm so proud of him, despite hearing bass practice very early in the morning!!
Imogen Anna that’s so nice of you
Now he is 20 i guess
Holy crap, this is one nice combo. I've always loved Orange's amp sounds. I feel like this would be good for Sludge/Stoner Metal of you put a Big Muff pedal on this.
This is by far the best Orange Crush 50 demo on YT, that I know of. Cool amp, I wish it had a Direct Out like the 100W version.
Orange is a great company as well as ampeg for cheap GOOD and SUPER CONVENIENT for musicians on a budget, and can totally gig out with and still sound AWESOME... bought a 100 watt black orange bass crush 🤘🏼 super excited to get it soon!!!
Cherub rock!!!
Yep! the Melancholy Ones... :D Great Tune and Band
Hell yes!
Loving the Smashing Pumpkins lick!!! Very cool amp. 10 entries here! Thanks Scott!
Oh man, I think I'm a little late for this contest... Dec, 6 2019 :-(

Smashing Pumpkins!! One of the first tracks I learnt to play!!

pterantula naw man its all about the Crushing Cucumbers
Playing Smashing Pumpkins is almost convincing me to buy one of those Orange Crush combos.
I have the previous model of this. Great little amp, but this newest generation just takes it up several steps up.
Love the smashing pumpkins! Have had the joy of working with them a few times on festival show. As a lighting hand

I want the purple one, looks sick
Magnificent demo. I was curious about that mid freq. and gain blending knob functions, and you managed to present it all positively swiftly, with some really appealing sound altogether. I have been thinking about getting the VOX VX50BA amplifier, but now I need to consider whether or not I want to sacrifice the portability of Vox and get the beautiful sound of this a-bit-less-wieldy box instead...
Never heard anybody play that for cherub rock but I love it

Thanks for all you're doing for the community. Cheers!
Cool to see the Pumpkins covered on bass. That was sick
Can you explain in more detail about pad button ?
Now I know why I really dig you Scott. Pumpkins are my all-time favorite. Cheers!
Siamese Dream is one of the greatest rock guitar records ever.
Worst band ever.
does the tuner work well?
Loving the Cherub Rock riff.
that was a Lawrence Welk tune you were playing!!! I love it too!!!!!!!!!
i have one and it sounds great.
What is that groove being played before he uses distortion?
Just unpacked it yesterday. It's my first amp and my god are these things heavy. It's not a big deal since it won't be leaving my apartment but it was quiet the exercise getting this thing out of THREE boxes. Not a scratch though.
Blimey! Giving such a great amp away is absolutely bonkers 😂
Smashing Pumpkins was my first ever live show. I was either 12 or 13 years old. It was awesome and was a big part of what got me into actually playing music. That was about 20 years ago now.
Rockin´ dem Smashing Pumpkins. I liked it, never seen Scott do something like that before :)
I LOVE the Pumpkins!
+Scott Devine they are on tour right now with Everclear and a few other bands from the same era 👍
Very nice amp, but that P bass looks and sounds killer!
I was just looking at these on Sweetwater...

Smashing pumpkins sounds great also I loving the Amp as well good job as always
Worst band ever.
Great demo of this amp. Maybe, the best one I've seen. Nice job. Cheers!
Just bought one today! Super happy!
I was think of getting the 100w 15. Do you think it would work on stage? I would be tied into the to house as well. Our band plays mostly Country R&B & Funk.
Smashing Pumpkins! Hailing from sweet home Chicago!
Worst band ever.
Smashing Pumpkins!
You got it Isaac! :)
Worst band ever.
Reconstructing Butternuts are great!
Why is there a buzzing sound present throughout the video ? Is this amp not strong enough, should I go for the 100W one ? How does it sound while recording through the DI out, is it clean ? Cmon Scott you have tried these amps out, help a brotha out !
why you used a glove in the left hand?
Hey Scott. I was think of getting the 100w 15. Do you think it would work on stage? I would be tied into the to house as well. Our band plays mostly Country R&B & Funk.
Sorry i'm 7 years late but is the competition still open?
What about small church less than 300 people?
Yes ! All the church goers will think it's devil music for how much it rocks
I use one at church
What is the difference between a combo amp and amp heads? Is it that the head is a separate part that you could plug in into any speaker and play like that and the combo is the speaker and the head in one?
yes
So i could just buy a head and use any cabinet really? The sound might not be ideal but it is possible?
yes, you can, you just have to be careful with the watts and the ohms, because if you are not careful, you can damage the amp and the cabinet

Nice I've needed I new amp for ages, hope luck will be on my side this time 😊 much love Scott. btw loving the smashing pumpkins reference.

Hie, possible to find a 'good' slap sound with that Combo or not?
Thanks
I have the previous model of this, it's super great for practice and recording. Didn't do to well playing at a show though, but to be fair I play punk lol
I really want to have a clean nice, warm bass sound; so can you make a suggestion for head+speaker bass amp (for home practicing)? Many thanks
oh this is awesome!!! orange, they were super nice with this one mate
I got the previous from thomman. ..he had offer and it is....so....vintage...I love it...
Scott it is a great bass combo its october 2020 and just found out this amp right now only 2 bass combos like this is $299;`and Hartke HD 50 bass combo $199 trying to find cl9ses to 90s Vox T 60 bass combo great amp any help
Scott its been 6 years, any chance I can hop on the list
Can this handle small live gig volume (with drummer ) or should i move up to 100w?...great channel by the way
From what I could gather, this particular amp is ideal for bedroom practice/rehearsal gigs. Probably better off going with the 100w version if you have small venues in mind.
Don't know about the 50 but the 100 is perfect for small gigs.
I might be very late but I wonder if somebody knows the 100 watt version of this? Could that be good enough for a rock/metal gig?
I have it and it doesn't have gigging power.
@@Daniel-hd7gq did you try turning it up? 🤔
Hi scott what combo amp do you like or recommend for 100 w , rock style
thanks Scott big heart!
What's with the glove?
Sweaty hands maybe?
Can it handle low B strings at higher volume? Really curious as plenty of other combos struggle with that a lot (;
Yes 👍

hemelgindo perez he made a vid on it but long story short he has a condition that makes his fingers move uncontrollably when they are stretched but when they are touched by something it makes it stop
wow... interesting
hemelgindo perez he has some type of disorder and his hands shakes like crazy normally . but for some reason when he wears a glove it doesn't shake
What is the glove made of? What type of material? Very interesting...

The MJ song you was on about is Girlfriend :)
Yes that's the one - cool bass line!
Hey Scott, just wondering if you'd do anymore song breakdowns? I think ones like Talulah - Jamiroquai would work well because of the way it runs around the fret board.
Smashing pumpkins!!
Smashing Pumpkins: Cherub Rock
