Have you played it recently? I've had the same opinion as you until I went to play it again this year. It's a fun arena fighter, but it lacks a lot of what makes FighterZ so complex. And while the roster is massive, there's not enough variety between characters to make them feel as unique as they are in the show. Fighterz made such a good job tailoring characters to how they fight in the source material, there's in nothing that comes that close to it.
MK9 is like the Tekken 3 of Mortal kombat. superior story, best cast, legendary x-ray moves that were way more than a gimmick and more of a exciting feature like reinventing the fatality. held back by cheese unbalance and graphics that don't hold up today, you think MK11 looks great and it is the best looking fighting game to date but ask any Long time MK fan its like the Resident evil 4 of Mortal kombat. I thoroughly enjoyed MKX but I felt MK11 Story is just over the top and weird, holding it back in that aspect. PS: I enjoyed your reaction and opinions greatly! TY!
@@homeoftek5844 in fact the first game ever that I played was street fighter and I played many street fighter games but I liked more the pace and mechanics of KOF especially because each character has unique moves.
I have mixed opinion about parrying, it kinda just takes away your okizeme against a good player. You should be rewarded when you knock down your opponent, but if you are lucky it's still a 50/50...
The okizeme in 3rd Strike is very complex and different from basically every other fighting game. There's a good FGC Translated video where Onuki talks about the oki in 3rd Strike. It's more about timing, either putting out a meaty or delaying your meaty in response to how your opponent usually tries to get off the ground. There are people who are parry happy on wake up, but you can easily punish them for it.
Only issue with kof 13 is the characters each took up to 8 months on average. That costs a small fortune. Plus with their notorious poor business decisions, you'll never see another 13.
i can really get behind that guy in the chat who was saying soulcalibur 2 thats too bad it didnt make it to the list, even though there was no other game like it
Outside of MK being too low and GGS being too high I agree with the list. I never played DBFZ and I feel like I would take it off for Soul Calibur but the list is not offensive.
@The tricky tick I mean who is to say DBFZ doesn't peak and all the subsequent games crash? I understand what you are saying but at least SC has a few games under its belt and SC2 was the face of a consul when it came out.
for me we need two types of category on best games ever. its like unfair you pit in multiple games when they are only categorize in one title example like you will put street fighter 5 on top 7 then another street fighter 3 on top 2 on same category that will not give chance to other decent fighting game series, so here is my top 10 in all time category and another top 10 for all time classic category based on its impact on people its series and how many times thay have been in arcade center that i saw when i was a local goer to all arcade shops here in our country because fighting game is at best when you play it in arcade shops before.. top 10 all time fighting brand franchise 1 street fighter series 2 marvel vs capcom series 3 tekken series 4 mortal kombat series 5 king of fighter series 6 soul calibur series 7 bloody roar series 8 dead of alive series 9 guilty gear series 10 killer instinct series top 10 classic brand franchise 1 street fighter series 2 mortal kombat series 3 marvel vs capcom series 4 vampire saviour series 5 king of fighters series 6 tekken series 7 killer instinct 8 samurai showdown series 9 virtua fighter 10 Rival school if i dont see them in arcade shop i dont consider them to be fighting game and if they pull of 3d environment when you roam around like playing fortnite or power stone i dont still consider them fighting game.. it must be face to face moving back ward forward yes side stepping is needed like in tekken dead or alive soul calibur but not to the point of smash bros they dont even have a health bar.

Hey MainMan. You can make wedding King. Maybe even wedding Kazuya. You just turn the black suit into white (yellow buttons, black shoes pink tie), add red roses and wedding candies. Also something funny on top like the yellow little bear. White powers preferable. It's so funny. And there are wedding special effects all the time. If you "give" the opponent wedding candies there will be pink 💗 on his head all the time all the rounds. It's super funny when you grab him he is like "I love this guy" 🤣

Strive is a better game than previous gg. Stands out massively from other anime fighters, and sold better than any of them. You can be ass mad over losing p > k like every other xrd player but strive will always be statistically better regardless of your opinion
@@IfWhatYes bro look.I don't hate strive I actually quite like like it but to say that it is a better fighter than accent core a game that has an almost infinite amount of depth and one of the most interesting casts ever isn't quite right
That's crazy because 7 is my less favorite Tekken. It feels souless in terms of content, movement is nerfed, and character models are lifeless (still like the game).
It's just because it sold well. My thinking is a good portion of what made the list was "can someone pick up and play this game on modern consoles right now" hence why games like MvC2 didn't make it, or Tekken 3. Of course there are exceptions like MK9 but still.
Don't know why Soulcalibur isn't on the list it was considered the best video game in general at the time let along for the fighting game genre look up the reviews from 1999 if you don't believe me hell even IGN itself gave it a perfect 10/10.

the one thing I disagree with is SF3S, if Daigo didn't parry JWong like that, this game would've been 6 feet under a long time ago, unbalanced, horrible roster and bad parry system that kills zoning, SF2T is better imo, still a very good video however.
Soul Calibur on Dreamcast smokes all these games. Nobody cared about fucking Street Fighter 3 back in the day. It had zero hype, got bad reviews, sold like shit and nobody played it. It also has atrocious balance issues. But time passed and now for some reason it is venerated as the best fighing game ever because people watched skilled japanese players play hype matches recorded on vhs tapes on youtube. People jacking off SF3 is like that meme "Huge Earthbound fan is excited to finally play the game for the first time!"
@@Sirvanic no people hated the first street fighter 3 because no legacy characters, and parry, which made the game play completely different than other street fighters before it. Second impact brought them back (legacy characters) and had many tunings/patches. By third strike it was a completely different game and people were coming back to it.
@@Digital.midori 3rd Strike only existed on Arcades and Dreamcast in those days. It was released just in the boom of a new console generation with the Dreamcast and PS2. Nobody cared about some old ass looking 2d fighter back then. It was all about the new graphics the new consoles could pull off. If by coming back to it you mean "1000 Japanese dudes in the Arcades and some die hard fans around the globe came back to it" then I'll buy it. But make no mistake, 3rd Strike was a huge flop like the two iterations before. 2d graphics has made a come back over the years thanks to indie shit so 3rd Strikes graphics are looked at fondly now but not back then. Nobody except a hardcore clique during the dvd era played 3rd Strike, nobody else played it, nobody is playing it now. You'll never convince me that 3rd Strike was ever popular except it's "supposed" to be the best fighter, 2d sprites is currently trendy and people watched old pro matches on RUclips.
Listen here my traditional FGCers. You are allowed to hate any and every smash game and clone there is but you should give Melee the respect it deserves. Although I completely agree that when the devs made this game, they indeed were trying to make fun party game for little kids but ended up making the complete opposite. The depth of that game is unbelievable. From the outside all you see is a little kid pool that looks half a foot deep, but if you jump in you will realize that bottom of that pool has been removed and replaced with the Mariana Trench.
Not just Melee but Sm4sh and Ultimate as well. Sakurai has clearly stated the his initial idea for smash was just a fun little party game. Nowadys however you can clearly see that they embrace the competetive side as well. The game is VERY balanced because they pay attention to the competetive scene, things like Diddy’s or Kazuya’s infinites get patched almost as soon as they are discovered. Smash may not have been conceived as a competetive figting game but it sure as hell became one.
@@frantschou2369 Sm4ash instantly died when ult came out. Look I’m trying to put the best foot forward here that’s why I gave melee as the example. Also Nintendo doesn’t give a shit about the competitiveness in their game they just want you to buy it.

@@wirataadidharma it does mean great if it's done well. The skill ceiling is extremely high, the character gameplay differences and character designs are some of the best I have seen in fighting games, this game arguably has the best offline content among all fgs(at least between the ones I have played) and I have played a lot of fighting games. I'm not saying it's the best fg of all time, but it is among the greats. It deserves the number 2 spot a lot more than strive at least. Strive is incredibly dumbed down and boring. Also next to tekken 7 Gg accent core is the most balanced game I have seen that is still fun. It's balanced in the way that everyone is broken so noone ends up getting the short end of the stick. And while the roster is massive, there's not enough variety between characters to make them feel as unique as they are in the show. Fighterz made such a good job tailoring characters to how they fight in the source material, there's in nothing that comes that close to it.
budokai 3 was hype and super fun to play against cpu or your friends yea but in a competitive setting? nah lmao
TY!
Yeah, but sadly Tekken 3 isn't the best Tekken entry. So, your comment holds absolutely no meaning.😂
I still think Street Fighter is overrated when it comes to ranking, being the pioneer of Fighting is one thing but being the best is different.
I agree
Me too even tho I love sf2.
There are people who are parry happy on wake up, but you can easily punish them for it.
i also think being able to parry everything sounds STUPID and overrated
daigo himself said that the parry in 3s was dumb and too strong
First Digimon rumble arena game was awesome bloody roar too
Anyone remembers Bloody Roar ?
Great video
Tekken 8 should feature Gameplay Guides narrated and explained by Pro players
kinda expected it would be SF or Tekken on the top, hence Guilty Gear intrigues me
Guiltily gear shouldn’t be that high in fact it should not be strive rather plus r or xrd.
Guilty gear wouldn't make the list if it wasn't strive. BBCF is better than plus r or xrd
@@IfWhatYes completely disagree mostly with that last statement, bbcf might be better than strive tho.

+1 Bloody Roar 2 and it is a perfect list.
Meanwhile Soul Calibur buried deep in the ocean Sadge
Only issue with kof 13 is the characters each took up to 8 months on average. That costs a small fortune. Plus with their notorious poor business decisions, you'll never see another 13.
XV plays way better than XIII and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't played either
i can really get behind that guy in the chat who was saying soulcalibur 2
thats too bad it didnt make it to the list, even though there was no other game like it
SC2 was amazing on reease. Everyone and their grandma was playing it
Outside of MK being too low and GGS being too high I agree with the list.
KOF 13 isn’t hand drawn. It’s 3d models made into sprites. Like donkey Kong. It’s very nice looking and was really expensive, but it wasn’t hand drawn
No soulcalibur games :(
Soul Calibur was a popular game, now not everyone outside the fgc knows SC
Don't forget: TOBAL NO 1 and MACE the dark age!!
Great list except i think soul calibur 2 should have been on there instead of VF5
Thank you for pronouncing Chun Li's name correctly, MainMan. No one else does
Choon Lee?!😂
for me we need two types of category on best games ever. its like unfair you pit in multiple games when they are only categorize in one title example like you will put street fighter 5 on top 7 then another street fighter 3 on top 2 on same category that will not give chance to other decent fighting game series, so here is my top 10 in all time category and another top 10 for all time classic category based on its impact on people its series and how many times thay have been in arcade center that i saw when i was a local goer to all arcade shops here in our country because fighting game is at best when you play it in arcade shops before..

if i dont see them in arcade shop i dont consider them to be fighting game and if they pull of 3d environment when you roam around like playing fortnite or power stone i dont still consider them fighting game.. it must be face to face moving back ward forward yes side stepping is needed like in tekken dead or alive soul calibur but not to the point of smash bros they dont even have a health bar.

It's super funny when you grab him he is like "I love this guy" 🤣
where is soul calibur 2???
i'm actually shocked dead or alive isn't on the list
that is a less complicated virtua fighter with more tits and ass. dont know anyone who plays it seriously
this list is super polarizing. On the one hand he has some great takes like tekken at number 3 or 3s at number 1 but at the same time saying that strive is the best gg game and not even mentioning blazblue is just...ughhhh
i think he explain the reason why very well.
@@suematsu7254 why(no fr it might have gone over my head)
Strive is a better game than previous gg. Stands out massively from other anime fighters, and sold better than any of them. You can be ass mad over losing p > k like every other xrd player but strive will always be statistically better regardless of your opinion
Not having blazblue is just wrong.
@@IfWhatYes bro look.I don't hate strive I actually quite like like it but to say that it is a better fighter than accent core a game that has an almost infinite amount of depth and one of the most interesting casts ever isn't quite right
Bro tekken world tour final 2022 review?
MMSWE the goat
That's crazy because 7 is my less favorite Tekken. It feels souless in terms of content, movement is nerfed, and character models are lifeless (still like the game).
It's just because it sold well.
My thinking is a good portion of what made the list was "can someone pick up and play this game on modern consoles right now" hence why games like MvC2 didn't make it, or Tekken 3.
Of course there are exceptions like MK9 but still.
Tekken 7 is the worst game in the series for content and tone but for gameplay it's the most evolved newest entry so makes sense to be on the list
Best gameplay and balance imo
But its the best in the most important thing, the gameplay.
@@LeiChaobruh my boy you need to get gud
Don't know why Soulcalibur isn't on the list it was considered the best video game in general at the time let along for the fighting game genre look up the reviews from 1999 if you don't believe me hell even IGN itself gave it a perfect 10/10.
Because these games are far superior
@@SpiffingDayNope Skulls Girls is lame and isn't as impactful as SC and DBFZ shouldn't count since it doesn't have it's origins starting out as a fighting game it's just a spinoff to a much larger franchise.

Urgent player is RX
Solid list, I only didn't like Marvel vs Capcom, but oh well... for me missing games/series are Soul Calibur (but to be honest - it's already dead), Samurai Showdown (I love V SE) and a little forgotten SEGA Game - Last Bronx. You should try last one if you have opportunity @TheMainManSWE

I will never forgive IGN. I still remember what they did to Clover studios

I think he should have choosen tekken3 since it had the most impact. But it's really hard to choose anything.
He did great!
I think he factored in how playable the game is by modern standards
SF3 is the greatest Fighting Game of all time and Tekken 7 should be switched with Tekken 5 imo
Yeah opinion respected. Reason though? Gives me more intel to understand your opinion.
dude put dragonball fighterz before mortal kombat, therefore his list is a joke, he could'v easily put soulcalibur in its stead!!!!! such an iconic game everybody talked about soulcalibur 2 when it came out!!!
Def Jam Fight For NY
I think he needs to swap MK9 and Virtua Fighter 5: US.
Try to imagine a hand drawn Tekken game in the style of Kof XIII. Dont know if it would work but it would be pretty cool xD

I always roll my eyes when I see pretentious fighting game players discredit MK. Wow interesting and objective video by IGN? That doesn't happen too much.
the one thing I disagree with is SF3S, if Daigo didn't parry JWong like that, this game would've been 6 feet under a long time ago, unbalanced, horrible roster and bad parry system that kills zoning, SF2T is better imo, still a very good video however.

Nobody played street fighter 3 sure. Third strike is a complete different story.
@@Digital.midori That's just revisionist history.
"Tekken is 3" - Harada
Listen here my traditional FGCers. You are allowed to hate any and every smash game and clone there is but you should give Melee the respect it deserves. Although I completely agree that when the devs made this game, they indeed were trying to make fun party game for little kids but ended up making the complete opposite. The depth of that game is unbelievable. From the outside all you see is a little kid pool that looks half a foot deep, but if you jump in you will realize that bottom of that pool has been removed and replaced with the Mariana Trench.
ok
@@koalawithchaingun53 ty for coming to my ted talk

@@hatef7023 Hard doesn't mean great
@@wirataadidharma it does mean great if it's done well.
The only balance problem this game has is Brigitte being too useless.
