This is what I played at the audition (not exactly because I improvise most of it) and the teachers looked quite impressed.
Hello everyone! It's funny how this video seems to have spikes of interest and views every couple of years, even though it barely had any views when I first released it haha
Just thought I'd update everyone. Yes I got accepted and I attended Berklee in 2015/16. I also got a couple of scholarships too, which was very nice indeed. But I dropped out after a year because it didn't feel right for me. It was an amazing experience, I met some dead cool people and got to live in the US for year. But I felt like a year was enough to get what I wanted out of it and I have since been working and touring with different bands and artists in the UK. In fact I've finally started my own band which you can check out here:

This is now my main focus and you should all be hearing a lot more from me in the near future as I'm working as hard as I can to take my band to the next level.
Cheers everyone!
KEEP GOING KING!! I Just started my guitar journey so this is encouraging
Sounds like you didn't really need it anyways. Keep it comin!
Please add more fleshed out guitar solos in ur band's music, you've got the fingers for that!
Thanks for sharing your music. And yes you need to play out more:) amazing skills
Life is So unfair. Your parents probably supported you and your music. My father chasing me around the house with a 2 x 4 wasn’t fun
No hiding behind tons of gain here. Well played.
or more reverb than my mind can process
i graduated from Berklee 18 years ago, and i probably couldnt play this. Great Job !
Liar
Hi Sean, your channel has some really great live footage, did you film any of it your self?
nobody studies from Berklee and couldn't play this, even with practice, unless you don't actually take the time to practice or even play a guitar.
@@MarkyPaligs not everyone that goes to Berklee is a shredder. One of their main teachers is Tomo Fujita who says he couldn’t play super fast so he developed his own thing which was a funk blues blend which was very syncopated with triplet scratches. Amazing in his own way.
@@jazzcat1056 hence I added "unless you don't actually take the time to practice or even play a guitar."
I’m planning to use this as my audition song for Belmont, wish me luck!
Did you get in?
@@djent5592 no
did you get in?
Did you get in man?
Did you get in???
Playing it on a strat with single coils makes it even more beautiful... 😍😍
That slidey main riff is so fucking sick man. Rock on \m/
I'm 1 minute in and can't watch anymore.
I can't even get my head around how much time would require learning a piece like this.
Incredible dude
2:50 - 3:10 hit me right in the soul..
2020..and ive just heard of him..im pissed off ..he a genius....im 63..so heard a few guitar players..
"I had my technique perfected by age 16." -- Shawn Lane
You have such fluid and nimble hand movements that just seems to flow effortlessly, just like Guthrie.
You don’t need Berklee. Berklee needs you
What
LOL for what they need Him? are you normal?
Luginon Luginon you're so dense it's unbelievable
It is bad to put a person a limit
That's one dumb opinion
Were you auditioning to Berklee to teach?
The TOTCM Band he said he got 2 scholarships, so I'll guess he is a student.
Hahahaha! Why do you have to take his cheeky compliment literally?!

Shucks. There were at least five significant mistakes in there. Now just give me the rest of my life to figure out exactly what they are and I'll tell you.
i see more than 10, now give me ur life.
I think this is the best version of someone nailing the main riff so perfectly. I'll keep coming back here every once in few months 😆
if you have to know how to perfectly play a Guthrie song to get into Berklee do you even need to go to Berklee?
You go to Berklee to play with even better musicians. Also, you learn a lot of composition and theory. The opportunities don't hurt either.
@@adityaroy7616 I know, man. It was just a tongue in cheek comment. 😅
@@SohamBhattacharya3105 Yeah I know man. :D That's the why the last sentence
Excellent. I think Guthrie is probably he best guitarist out there and nothing he does is easy to replicate. You have obviously put in the work.
Great job man! Great solo and I can tell you put your heart into it. Keep it going!
anyone in 2020 watching this again years later... still like wtf. cheers dude!
Berklee CWP 2012 here, awesome tune and great playing! Super expressive and lively!

Wow. Bro. Very impressed. I loved the beginning with all the sliding up and down.
I'm suddenly in love with this song
Better than i had expected
Absolutely incredible...you are a master of this instrument.

Yes, I also got 2 scholarships
Hell Yes dude! Congrats! I'm starting my audition processes soon and def need to be a part of this wonderful Music School. Great playing btw! Have you noticed an improvement in your playing since school has started? What's your Minor/Major?
Thomas Hill Hey ! how do you get scholarships? they just give you that or you must aply for it?
Kenneth Estevez o
How did you get the schoolarships Thomas?
Why is one of the Jonas Brothers auditioning for Berkley
Berklee is named after it's founder, Lee Berk.....if I'm not mistaken,
My bad, my autocorrect wrote Berkley with a y
Why is jimi hendrix watching nick jonas play guitar?
Pratyaksh Gautam well you know I'm bored up there so yeah
Jimi hendrix.... Shouldn't that be " Up Here"?
why are you not famous? nice guitar play man
You definitely NAILED it, man.
amazing dude. Berklee got to have you
Amazing!
Man, I dont envy people who have money, I dont envy people who play Dota well, but there are only 2 kind of people that I envy:
1) the actors who have had a chance to kiss Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau, I am talking about you idiot matt damon!) or Jordana Brewster in F&F 1, and of course Carrie Ann Moss in matrix, with the excuse of "being actors", (or their husbands or lovers of course).
2) the people who can play this song perfectly.
Man I tried to master only the intro and it's too difficult, I mean, I practice and practice once a week or when I remember I have a guitar, and my speed for this song has been close to a turtle. I have already calculated that in the next 2 years of practice, my speed for "Waves intro" will be the same.
for these songs is crucial to practice everyday, with focus. I obviously assume you don't have the time, so it wasn't a criticism to you but actually don't feel bad if you are not progressing, because once a week is not enough! :) Also, maybe you should rethink the way you study a phrase. (I'm always talking without knowing you, so if you already do like this, that's good:) ) Do you divide it in small sections and practice each section with a metronome gradually increasing the speed? :)
congrats man! my uncle graduated back in the 90s
i can only hope to follow soon!
this is great your one of the best I have seen in ages
Man, what amp are you use ? and what pedals ? EXCELENT TONE! Greetings from argentina!
Oh shit! I saw your Tennyson cover a year ago while watching other covers of Luke's solos, and this popped up today while I was watching Guthrie Govan stuff. Took a while to realize you're the same dude!
What does your daily practise routine involve
Playing guitar probably
@@mooka5445 No way. Probably just sitting around drinking milk.
@@Ya_moms that sounds like what I do
Wow this is a great playthrough. How'd you get this tone?
This kids fucking amazing man, holy shit, what a job on this one. You're exceptional brotha!!!!
That's an attractive instrument and even more attractive sounds coming out of her

Absolute madlad
Congrats man! Hope to see you with the greats one day soon
Currently learning Waves, this video is very useful. Well done!
Did you learn it?
That technic level!
so good groove inside
To those claiming he has no emotion etc. That's your opinion and your entitled to it, but don't go bashing others cause they believe he does or cause you're jealous. Too much arguing over something that's 100% SUBJECTIVE - MUSIC. Just enjoy it. This guy is very impressive at what he does. If you don't like it don't watch it. I'm sure all you internet professors could understand something so simple yes? ;)
Music doesn't need to impress... In my opinion you listen to music because you find it enjoyable. Jealousy doesn't come in to play. If you follow that path, there is always someone that plays better or faster. Music shouldn't be about technical skill. I agree that music is 100% subjective, so why attack people who don't like this kind of music?
Dude! You are awesome!! Good for you!!
Badass audition man!! Nicely done!!
It’s been 7 years. What happened? Have you graduated?
Impressive. Most impressive.

Great solo, and nice strat!
Bro. Nice job!
clean as fuck
Sick playing bro! Im sure they have accepted you!
Eric Johnson would be proud.
he never said it was Eric Johnson's song, just that he would be proud.
Danny yeah but his comment was implying that the playing style was like Eric Johnson's, which it is not.
INTPguy11 in your opinion
Nolan Milnes go ahead and qualify your opinion. Let's start with how long you've been playing
INTPguy11 you're wrong get over it
