Evening everyone. Glad Redcard seems to taken my suggestion and uploaded the main programme and the update in a single upload. I remember this episode as my mum said sometime afterward she couldn't stop thinking of that boy running along the road and then he disappeared. This is the first time I can remember a progress report from a later episode but if I recall right, he was found by a potholer shortly after the programme. It was apparent he had gone explore during his run and got into difficulty in a cave he'd found. So sad, especially after he'd come through so much in his short life. I'd also say from the description of him that it appears he may been someone with Asperger Syndrome however awareness of the condition in 1990 was niche.
Ah, was wondering where the update was-good idea. Even expert cavers go missing, in their case it is usually ego/arrogance, in his case it seems autism & naivety was the factor.
BlytheWorld1972 Yeah, she seemed like a really sincere lady. There’s no doubt she really cared for him and they had a good relationship. Really sad case.
Surinder Gill, I refuse to believe he showed up at the Comet in the midst of being kidnapped acting like nothing was happening. It doesn't make sense...it is surely a mistake and I really don't get why the police have it in their official timeline (?)
Police have a theory that either he was having affairs with married women or he was in to money laundering. My theory is that they tried to kidnap his daughter for ransom. This would explain why the car was seen at the beavers open space as Westway Riding school is there. Not sure if his daughter attended that school or not but Surinder Gill was seen leaving the field with the man in the crash helmet. Maybe under the guise to get his daughter. Also wanted to add that kids leave school at about 3pm and the car was seen at 2:30pm and stayed for 30 minutes. This strengthens my theory.
There’s something very strange about the Surinder Gill case. So he gets hijacked in his car but then apparently goes shopping for a new phone even though he didn’t pick up his daughter from school. Hmmm.....
Not often moved my reconstructions but anything to do with young kids or adults has me in bits the first case Michael Boulton had me in tears .. rip lad x

I wonder why when it shows the police waiting by the phones at the beginning of the program some of them are talking on the phone how can anybody be phoning in before any of the crimes that they need information on have been shown?.
The week or so in the run-up to the programme the reconstructions and towns involved would be featured in the trailer and sometimes in the Radio Times.
Judging from the title cards and countdowns at the end are these sourced from some betacam tapes direct from the BBC or something? Would explain why the quality is generally so good.

Surinder Gill is a mystery the part where he doesn't collect his children from school, But then turns up at Comet a few hours later? He doesn't look like a man who would carry on with his day without collecting his children or not enquiring about there whereabouts etc after school? Just doesn't make sense.
So sad about Michael Boulton. What a tragedy. He sounded like a lovely lad who needed stability and had actually found it with his foster family. Poor lad😪🥀🕊
R.I.P Michael Boulton this case has hit home for me, as had very similar childhood too, Life can extremely cruel at times, shit at times... You deserved so much much better.. 😔
Re the murder of Christine Lee in Glasgow. All I can find online is news story from May 1990 about the charge of a 19 year old local man with the murder. The details of the crime are quite horrific so I will not post a link. It's not clear if the charge led to a conviction.
Apparently he was a 19 year old with learning issues & I have found on Google Books a book by a Scottish journalist who mentions it & says he was convicted-but doesn't say for how long, I have found another reference that said he was given a recommended fifteen years.
16:02 Superintendent David Hatcher is on holiday this month... So here's his address should you wish to burgle it and then you could appear on next month's Crimewatch lol!
Out of interest,Redcard74,is thee a copy of the Crimewatch UK from March 1990 ? yesterday it was February 1990 and today it's April and I just wondered if they did one in March ?
That's what I was thinking I wonder if they had cctv in the store being a Comet ,More should have been said on it and why did the car do a u turn back towards Southall, It just doesn't make sense.
I had a look and found a pdf file with this info on it Stoney Middleton A body found in a cave at Stoney Middleton is believed to be that of Michael Boulton, aged 16, who disappeared 13 months ago. Derbyshire C.R.O. was called in at the time to help Police search for Michael in caves around the Eyam area, but without any success. The body was found in a cavern at the end of a long crawl. It is known that Michael had been caving with the scouts and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a great pity that his enthusiasm was not directed towards a local caving club - perhaps this highlights a need for Caving and Mining Clubs to establish links with Scouting organisations, to help educate younger people into the dangers of caving without the proper equipment.
Hi Dean. I remember watching this episode at the time in April 1990 and being so gripped by it, was eager to find out if there had been any leads. I vividly recall in one of the following months' CWUK episodes (possibly the May episode) Nick Ross providing an update and saying Michael had since been found dead in a cave with the cause of death being due to "natural causes" (I was a child at the time and this was the first time I'd ever heard that expression! As a result it's stuck in my mind all these years)
Hi Redcard, or anyone who can help me, do you know how many more years Redcard has of Crimewatch? I hope their are more years as I'd love to watch more 90s and 00s episodes.
Of course he was one of yours sweetheart. I know he would have loved u very much and he saw u as mum and dad. He gave u the plate with mum after all. I’m so sorry this happened. I think someone lured him into a car. Rip Micheal sleep tight angel.
Why would they feature the Michael Boulton case a year after his disappearance when the trail’s gone cold? He should have been in the June 1989 episode when it was fresh in witness’s memories.
They suspected he decided to leave his home by choice as he was often in care homes. They do say that most people do this and it's not suspicious unless they haven't made any contact for a year or more. Although as he was young they should have shown him earlier.
Cannot find anything about Surinder Gill online, assume he was a flash harry type who had borrowed money from the wrong people/ripped off the wrong people, the afternoon was a warning to pay up by that evening or else, or he negotiated a few hours grace. He didn't raise the money & paid the price.
Hi Hi - I suspect that the sales assistant who spoke to him was mistaken about what day he saw him. By that point Surinder would have realised that he was hours late for collecting his daughter from school as planned so even if he had given him a few hours grace, it is strange that he did not make some effort to contact his family just to make an excuse for not collecting the school.
@@meskbren Yes, I thought that might be a possibility-I guess that store didn't keep proper records so we will never know & people are often mistaken about the day they saw people in murder cases, it would make more sense if he was kidnapped & murdered in the afternoon rather than the evening
A friend of the family who worked for the social services said years ago how young kids are moved around almost out of spite and she was upset that they would have to put all there clothes in black bags to take with them. No wonder they must feel like rubbish after being treated like that
Is March 1990 missing? It appears to have been DC Jackie Haynes’ first episode. Despite seeing this April 1990 episode at the time I have absolutely no memory of Ch. Insp. Colin Fry. I'm not sure if anyone would agree he was no substitute for David Hatcher and probably explains why he did not reappear. It also seems to be emblemic of the time that the female officer was of constable rank while her male colleague is of senior rank. I don't know why they couldn't have just got a police constable of either gender to stand in for him?
Fry was certainly no David Hatcher. Jacqui Hames was my total crush at this point entering my teenage years. She was married to the boss of the dirty squad although they later divorced & their relationship didn't go down too well with yard bosses.
@@SKisatourist2010 The Obscene Publications Squad-they earned the nickname of the dirty squad because they spent all day watching/looking at porn. At this point it was starting to change-Hames was getting fed up with seizing consenting adult videos & grumble mags & prosecuting people for it, he could see the move was more towards child abuse/exploitation as computers started becoming more prevalent & it was farcical to be chasing after adult porn when kids were being abused & needed rescuing, then the internet & that is what it has focused on since then. ruclips.net/video/DgOU-lbpH9c/видео.html
That was the norm back then. Kids were always running errands, getting sent to shops with lists etc. These days most 10 year olds aren't even allowed outside their front door unsupervised.

Surinder Gill is a mystery the part where he doesn't collect his children from school, But then turns up at Comet a few hours later? He doesn't look like a man who would carry on with his day without collecting his children or not enquiring about there whereabouts etc after school?
Just doesn't make sense.
Obviously someone had threatened him and his family or had made him possibly to deliver some cash or something.
So sad about Michael Boulton. What a tragedy. He sounded like a lovely lad who needed stability and had actually found it with his foster family. Poor lad😪🥀🕊
Thanks RC74 !!
R.I.P Michael Boulton this case has hit home for me,
as had very similar childhood too,

Evening fellow Crimewatcher's.
Surinder gill and Abdul Rashid murder featured in October 1988 programme both murders unsolved in London in two years
Watched this programme in April 2020 during the lockdown,,, , watching it again in April 2022,, surinder Gill murder still unsolved,
Re the murder of Christine Lee in Glasgow.
Thanks for protecting us from the news Stuart.
Superb thanks a lot Classic crimewatch feet up & a Cupa on the go!

Out of interest,Redcard74,is thee a copy of the Crimewatch UK from March 1990 ? yesterday it was February 1990 and today it's April and I just wondered if they did one in March ?
There was a March episode which featured a case on Keith Burgess who was murdered. However, that particular case is available on RUclips.
March 1990 is now available on my channel: ruclips.net/video/PrIhY7icSec/видео.html
7:27-bloody hell its Michael Foot-where is his donkey jacket?
Was that definitely Surinder Gil in Comet or someone who just looked like him? That’s what I’m wondering.
Nah it was Sharif from Corrie :p
It was Mahatma Gandhi
That's what I was thinking I wonder if they had cctv in the store being a Comet ,More should have been said on it and why did the car do a u turn back towards Southall, It just doesn't make sense.
The guy in the store knew him

Does anyone know what happened with Michael Boulton, can’t find anything on the internet?
I have a feeling his death was put down to death by misadventure, it was mentioned in a later episode of CW. So wasn't murdered/abducted after all.
How bizarre, must admit I thought a pedophile ring got hold of him,
I had a look and found a pdf file with this info on it
Stoney Middleton
A body found in a cave at Stoney Middleton is
believed to be that of Michael Boulton, aged 16,
who disappeared 13 months ago. Derbyshire C.R.O.
was called in at the time to help Police search for
Michael in caves around the Eyam area, but without
any success.
The body was found in a cavern at the end of a long
crawl. It is known that Michael had been caving with
the scouts and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It is a great pity that his enthusiasm was not directed
towards a local caving club - perhaps this
highlights a need for Caving and Mining Clubs to
establish links with Scouting organisations, to help
educate younger people into the dangers of caving
without the proper equipment.
As a result it's stuck in my mind all these years)
Thank you for your replies, seems to be a tragic ending for a boy that seemed so lost not only in his personal life but by the way it ended 😢
Surinder Gill murder as yet unsolved (August 2020 report).
Watched this episode 100 times and the actor who’s selling Surinda the phone in the shop, how rubbish 😅🤷🏻♂️
The case is so crazy 😢
Hi Redcard, or anyone who can help me, do you know how many more years Redcard has of Crimewatch? I hope their are more years as I'd love to watch more 90s and 00s episodes.
Good night all😁

Watching this during 2nd lockdown!
It is Feb 2020 and we still have not found Michael Boulton! I am so sad!
Read the reply to Jason fray's post. He was found in a cave a year later
That was definitely the Stig driving Surinders Mercedes
Did he ever get found?
Michael Boulton? His body was found in a cave
Why would they feature the Michael Boulton case a year after his disappearance when the trail’s gone cold? He should have been in the June 1989 episode when it was fresh in witness’s memories.
it probably seemed more likely he hadn't been taken, which is what turned out to be the case (eventually found in a cave).
They suspected he decided to leave his home by choice as he was often in care homes. They do say that most people do this and it's not suspicious unless they haven't made any contact for a year or more. Although as he was young they should have shown him earlier.
I mean no disrespect, but does Nick wear a syrup? 28:40 His hair literally looks like it was lowered onto his head here 🧐
Such a shame, seems like a nice lad...
Yes I agree. I don't think he would have got 'roughed up' and then thought 'Fcuk it, I need a new car phone' as though nothing had happened!!
You might just be right. Or the mobile phone shop confused what day he was in
Buisness deal gone wrong over money not repayed he knew the killers
Thanks red card! I am interested to know whether you had all of these recorded?
I can see the era from the frames of glasses they wear. Archbishops used to wear those big and square glasses (still do) Lovely.

Michael case. Social services must of bullied him from young age . That's my opinion.and it does happen

Hi The Dirty Squad?
