Seems like going from 400 to 600 feet altitude increased the overall range but most of us can't do that. Mine usually loses signal at a little over a half mile distance at 400 feet up. This is usually over a dense forest so that might limit it some. Unlike yours, mine does not want to continue flying very far after the display is lost, it will RTH.
Oh wow that’s weird, today I tested the rc range with range extenders and I got 1.3 miles of video feed and 2 miles of rc connection flying off the map
@@cameronharry518 this is with Yagis, when I say dense forest I mean really dense (see vid), if they would let me go to the 600 feet that would make a big difference I'm sure.
Very well done, and very informative. I'm considering buying a Mini SE and this is quite helpful. I've read the comments from some other people here about the 400 foot rule, and I've read your responses about it being a safe area. I'm sure that you're very conscientious about safety, and would not deliberately fly in an unsafe manner. But please keep in mind that the 400 foot ceiling is a hard and fast rule for all drone pilots, just as much as posted speed limits are hard and fast limits for all drivers. I would love to see your channel succeed and grow, so please be careful about posting things that could be problematic from the FAA's point of view. Good luck with your channel, and happy flying.
About flying over 400 feet, as long as there are no local laws on the height limit, you can fly above the 400 foot mark. Furthermore, if you have flown a DJI drone, it will not allow you to fly over 400 feet if there are local laws. Please do not be stupid and comment about these things.
@@liujiren5922 You do know that federal law supersedes local law in this regard, right? You are aware that the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 explicitly states that ONLY the FAA controls civilian flights through the National Airspace (NAS) right? And that this act merely carried on that established law which has been in effect for many decades, right? And that four major Supreme Court decisions have upheld the FAA's sole authority over the NAS, right? Oh wait, you literally know less than nothing about drone law in the US.
Yes the Dji does have the 400 ft rule to remind to be safe, your drone will not allow you to fly over the 394 ft cap it has if you are in a designated area. If you check the Dji fly map it will show you the flight spots and if you click where you are it will show the height you are allowed if there is a restriction
@@cameronharry518 In the United States, there is ALWAYS a 400 foot height restriction anywhere you fly. That's federal law. Manned aircraft are to fly at minimum of 500 feet, and small unmanned aerial systems are to fly at a maximum of 400 feet above ground level. Within restricted airspace, there may be further restrictions. You may be restricted to 100 feet, 200 feet, or you may be allowed to fly up to the maximum for any drone flight anywhere in the US, 400 feet.. The reason DJI allows you to fly above 400 feet AGL outside of restricted airspace is that it recognizes that the topography is not always completely flat. There will be hills, valleys, and mountains, and you will need to raise your drone as the ground level rises. But you still must stay under that 400 foot ceiling as you fly. Everywhere.
@@cameronharry518 If you are in the US - FAA Regulations supersede anything DJI says: www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers. While it may, in your eyes, be safe to operate at this altitude - posting it is self-incriminating. Great video on the capabilities of the Wi-Fi drone though!

@@buildingjmpr67 it is not the "max distance reached" thingy that happened, it was literally the signal being blocked and the drone trying to rth, failing to rth and landing wherever it is.. Sometimes even disarming the motors half way, gladly when it's safely close to the ground. I sent it back to dji and they replaced it anyway, now it flies good
Not sure if this is in the US but please be careful with the 400 foot rule. GA planes can legally fly as low as 500 feet and they have been been smacking drones. Other than that great video.
@@cameronharry518 safe and legal are 2 different things .. .illegal height can cost you a lot of money,,,,,helicopters are bad about flying low, national guard do it a lot.
First of all if you are going to fly a drone you need to think about safety and obeying FAA regulations. 1000 feet high is way above the 400 feet allowed by the FAA. Second, you also need to keep your drone within VLOS (visual line of sight). Third, one reason it cost less than the mini 2 is because the mini 2 has ocusync 2.0 which gives you a much better transmission range even behind buildings and other obstacles. Don't get me wrong, it is a good drone for beginners but it can't compare to the more upgraded mini 2 or 3.
