There is a Live performance of this from the RUclips Awards I think. The performance is so raw and heart moving. ArtPop was a dark time for her. As I know, before the performance, her long time manager left her.
She broke her hip during 2012. She was on tour with The Born This Way Ball and her last concert was in Montreal. There are lots of videos on RUclips where we can see her in pain. She did not injure herself on that particular date, she was in pain for a long time and Montreal was her breaking point. She had to cancel the rest of the tour because of that. She was in a wheelchair for months and returned after a year with ArtPop
I’ve been a Gaga fan since the beginning and I know she tends to write songs that can be interpreted differently. I do not disagree that this song was partially inspired by her love of performing/fans when she sustained her injury. But I also believe this song was inspired by Taylor Kinney, her ex fiancé. There’s several songs in her discography that could be about him (Gypsy, John Wayne, Perfect Illusion, Just Another Day, etc.) and I do suspect that her relationship troubles started after she broke her hip and simultaneously began writing ARTPOP.
I love the song dope so much, it suits artpop in a way that when you’ve been partying for so long, having sex and using drugs ( which was kinda the idea of the album , as she summarizes in the bridge of “Aura” “dance, sex, art, pop, tech”) and then you get back to reality, that’s what it feels like
Worst song off of ARTPOP is crazy... this was probably my least favourite one when I was a kid, but - as an adult - it's genuinely one of her best songs of all time!
Hey so this might be an “out there” recommendation but Lana del Rey made a song they barely any fans talk about called “big spender” with a British rapper. Her name won’t come up on Spotify but the guys name is Smiler
People who think this is a bad song only like dancy pop songs. They are not used to an artist inhabiting emotions when they are at their lowest and exhuding raw emotion. It's not supposed to be a supremely controlled perfect vocal.
I do think it’s the worst song on ARTPOP but it’s still good. As you’ve already heard the album is full of bangers so this one in comparison isn’t as spectacular but it’s still a solid ballad. My biggest problem is that the production is a bit muddy, which isn’t the case for the other songs, they’re all really well produced.

it was originally called “I wanna be with you” and had totally different lyrics, she performed it live and it’s on RUclips!

People experience sadness differently. Gaga is extremely intense and it shows in her singing.
