Dan called THX spatial audio "Dolby Atmos" and proceeded to say dolby atmos requires speakers around the listener in order for it to work, when dolby atmos is basically upwards firing speakers to simulate a "surround Sound" effect, previous people from LTT don't make errors like that, i wouldn't call him the best and i'm surprised they didn't re shoot that section

I have had this for a few months now, and I don't think it's that bad at all. From a basic everyday consumer stand point (if you have the money for it, it is too pricey) I have noticed that the "surround sound" type feeling is heavily effected by the angle of the sound bar. My chair height allows the angled sound bar to be aimed at "the center of my head" (I guess) and it really does sound like it's behind me as well. Especially with movies, more so than games (which I totally understand as an issue). I did notice, like in the video, the software randomly gets hiccups when adjusting the eq, I have also noticed all of the lower sounds drop randomly (when I first got it, hasn't happened in a while). I'm by no means an audio expert, or even an audio novice, in fact I know nothing about audio. Just figured I would toss in my "everyday consumer" opinion!

This is a 2.1 system that tries to sound like a 7.1
For those that don't know, you don't count the number of drivers to find out how many channels a speaker is, as multiple drivers can be attached to the same channel.
This one, has 4 front facing drivers, and 2 passive radiator in the back, passive radiator don't do anything on there own, and uses the pressure created by the active speakers in the speaker enclosure to give a better and deeper base.
Passive radiators are a big reason why many compact bluetooth speakers have really big sound for there size.

On the back there are two bass radiators, these also do not count as seperate channels, they just allow the bass that builds up from the front 2 speakers to project out of the soundbar.

I picked up the Leviathan V2 X last November and, honestly, it's way better than my dual PC speakers. I also only paid around $100 for the speaker bar, which in my opinion was a steal.
I guess my reason for commenting is that I don't really agree with a lot said here.
The speakers sound fine and have plenty of options for tuning in the Synapse software, which a lot of people already have to configure their keyboard/mouse anyway. It gets plenty loud and doesn't distort at high volumes. It's also perfectly usable at very low volumes. The lighting is fun and, if you enjoy the devil's lettuce, can be pretty mesmerizing while listening to some good tunes. The bar itself is small and compact enough to fit on any desk and has usb type-c input. It looks very clean and matches the aesthetic of other Razer devices.
My only complaint is that the bluetooth can be a little finicky. Connecting can be a struggle and if the speaker isn't outputting for a significant amount of time, it has a habit of losing the connection to the PC/Phone without realizing that it isn't connected to anything. It doesn't happen too often and using it via bluetooth isn't going to give the best sound quality anyway, but I have noticed it.
I don't really care about the single C input for data and power, as that's really all I need anyway. I don't have any devices, aside from a Steam Deck, that even utilizes auxiliary anymore and, to be frank, I don't want the extra cable mess anyway. If I really need better sound quality, I will use headphones.

Thanks for the review, I’m glad that negative reviews are being published as well as good ones. Few notes though, the drivers an the back are most likely passive radiators to help the front speakers extend a little lower. Second, the subwoofer frequencies (80hz and below) are mostly omnidirectional so you shouldn’t be able to tell where they are coming from. If they sound like they are coming from the bar, then the integration was done well. Best way to know the difference is to just unplug the sub and listen for the crossover frequency. Frequency response charts would be great too

I think only someone who works in or has grown up knowing marketing from the last 10 years would respond passive aggressively to you. I 100% agree. the X.1 has always been, the number of channels, no matter how many speakers you slap on a channel. left and right is 2 channels. Left and right with a tweeter, woofer, and sub in each cabinet, 6 speakers total, still 2 channels. Three pairs of speakers with 3 drivers each is not 18.1, its 2.1 (assuming there is a dedicated sub channel and not just a crossover in the cabinet, then its simply stereo.)
Rather then killing the messenger, the most useful thing I learned today was when faced with "users want more channels" instead of investing in making a good product, Razer bought THX so they can change the naming convention and standard. Like the soundbar they made, the THX branding is now worthless to a consumer.

You only have two ears yet you don't hear in stereo. Your brain can figure out where sound is coming from based on delay. You can also trick your brain into thinking sound is coming from somewhere else. That's why you only need 2 speakers in a headphone for true surround sound. The better the algorithm, the better it also works for a soundbar. Simple as that.

This is an active speaker with 4 drivers and a subwoofer. It might at a push qualify as 2.1 but it’s really a centre-sub system. The 2 passive radiators are just fancy base ports and are there to make more efficient use of the 2 base drivers. The THX Spatial Audio seems to require “Synapse 3” to work on a PC, if you want it to work on anything else you are out of luck. It’s sad that Razor are counting the number of drivers adding the passive radiators, a virtual centre and still getting it wrong by calling it 7.1. You could probably get a pair of Hifi speakers and an Amp with a digital input that would really put this in the shade. Decades ago I got a Dacmagic 2i and used adapters to digitally plug my PC into my Hifi. You can get a CREATIVE Sound Blaster Play! 4 USB dac for not a lot of money and just connect it up to your analog equipment. Works great with my headphones but nothing stopping me from connecting it into a Hifi with they right cables.

    • @Kirinketsu_
      @Kirinketsu_ 2 года назад

Razer is not claiming or counting the number of drivers as 7.1, they only claim its 7.1 by THX, which is only supported on Windows 10, and I think Xbox now or soon? They just have no idea how to read a product page or box I guess.
      "Multi-driver PC Soundbar and Subwoofer
Packed with 2 full-range drivers, a down-firing subwoofer, and more, our all-in-one sound system is designed to provide full-range, high-fidelity sound that elevates your audio experience.
      THX Spatial Audio
Our advanced 7.1 surround sound delivers audio with pinpoint accuracy, allowing for a more realistic and detailed soundstage that makes your movies, games, and music truly come alive."

I much prefer dedicated speakers over a soundbar, but some people just like being able to set a thin box on their desk or under their TV and have better sound than what is built into their monitor or TV.
For those people, I would still recommend getting a wider soundbar because it allows for better imaging and soundstage (allows you to locate enemies by sound). Even at this price, you can get one with a wireless sub, so it's even more convenient than this. If you also need it to fit in the space that this does, you're pretty much out of luck.

It seems like the price is volatile, but the Philips B8405 soundbar has eARC so you can use HDMI for the sound. One less cable because it goes between your device and the TV. The one eARC device I have works with monitors that don't support eARC, but different devices work differently.

I picked up the Creative Sound Blaster Katana v2 bar to use with my gaming PC when my speakers died. Would love to get your thoughts on it. So far I really like it, and the sound quality is great (to me) with music and gaming - granted I'm by no means an audiophile.

Synapse and related Razer Windows services like to chew up RAM and CPU cycles (Razer Blade 15), so enjoy that - also I wouldn't say that with a single speaker (physical) that its possible to be 7.1 it would at most be 2.1 but being not very wide ALMOST makes it mono, lmao.
Edit: and in the video you were counting the passive radiators as speakers also when they are literally just the membranes, so its even less "channels"

Purpose of "Gaming" EQ setting is to help player to hear footsteps and enviroment cues better. On top less base reduces ear fatigue.
Just invest into a pair EDIFIER MR4 speakers and add sub if feel you need it. better sound and likely cheaper.

I bought one at half price. I liked too loud as a kid, at this time of my life I just care about clarity, and volume (not loudness).
I originally bought the model without the subwoofer. It wasn't bad for my uses. You can absolutely put that one into a backpack for your laptop.
But I like a little more bass on my desktop. So I upgraded to the next, this one here. It also serves as a stereo in my bedroom. I'm good with it.

I have the original razer Leviathan and when I play monster hunter rise on the switch with that speaker connected with an AUX cable with Dolby atmos and game mode on I swear I can hear objects behind me it's so trippy. Maybe it's just because my room is the perfect environment for the speaker to shine but the spatial audio works.

I was not expecting you to go in so hard at the end, but I respect it.
