  • The Incendio Saxophone Trio's gorgeous performance of my lyrical composition 'Luminous Sky'.

    Program Notes:
    Luminous Sky is a lyrical ballad depicting the warmth and serenity of a colorful sunset. The music features an almost constant arpeggiated ostinato, providing motion to the simple and expressive melodic fragments.
    The piece was written for the Incendio Trio as part of their performance at the 2022 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. The trio spent the previous year working on my chaotic and brash work Liquid Metal, so I thought this more lyrical style would be a nice change of pace for the ensemble!

    awesome. love how it never feels forced or gimmicky with mixed/abnormal time signatures, just feels like that’s exactly how the music should sound. keep it up!

      That’s the goal! Hoping to make the music flow in a natural despite the difficulty and frequent meter changes.

      That means a lot! Best of luck with the music, the arpeggios are no joke (and I should’ve known not to go into concert D major at the end…).

    Chris, dude, this is so beautiful! I absolutely adore these chord progressions, and I remain impressed at how well you can take three or four saxophonists and make it sound like there's ten of them playing. Great work, man!!!

      Thanks so much Harrison!! It definitely helps having three of the best saxophonists playing on this recording - if I just give them constant arpeggios, they’re bound to sound like a bigger ensemble. Glad you enjoyed what you heard!

    Sounding good! At risk of being cheeky, I really wonder what this would sound like if transcribed for Oboe, English Horn, and Bassoon 🤔

    Do you ever plan on adapting this piece for a quartet including tenor sax?

    • @cehass11
      @cehass11  2 месяца назад

      @@eeerrr7745 I don’t plan on it, unfortunately. I tried to make the three parts as efficient as possible so I wouldn’t need the tenor.
