*Mohawks Never Do Quit* Correction: the original title of the book that The Mohawk That Wouldn't Quit is based on is The Mohawk That Refused To Abdicate
Out of the two NYC Mohawks that we still have today, i'm glad 3001 is chosen to be restored to operation for it's an L3a designed to be a true dual-service that can go at 80mph in both freight and passenger work.
Literally, every dollar is going to count big time if people want to see 3001 restored and running again. I already donated and will continue to donate more.
not only 3001 will be the first operational nyc steam locomotive in decades but also be the first operational 4-8-2 since 2002 when frisco 1522 lasted ran
You did a very good 5-minute video and I love the animation scenes too and I so look forward to the day when she will be under steam again, but until then I'm going to help with donating to her restoration until that day comes. Although now certain news is floating around about another famous locomotive Chesapeake and Ohio Greenbrier 614 you'll have to make a 5-minute video about her and I god hope you'll do a scene with her in 3001 together. I really liked the ending of this film, the music and the scenes of 3001 pulling an excursion train
The New York Central and Nickel Plate worked very closely with eachother, Even Cornielus Vanderbilt himself called the NYC&STL your railroad must be Nickel Plated and that name stuck since
From what I've heard, only 8 NYC steam locomotives survive, but only 2 of them are iconic. 3001 because she's a modern dual-service Mohawk capable of 80 mph with a passenger train, and 999 for being the Empire State Express locomotive and being alleged to be the first to reach 100 mph. I wanna include 2933 since she's also a Mohawk, but she's a freight only Mohawk.
A New York Central Mohawk finally got the chance to return back to working order, which is New York Central 3001. It’s the sole surviving L-3a class Mohawk of the New York Central Railroad. Also for Texas & Pacific 638, in my imagination vision if it was still around to this day. It could’ve been displayed at the same park with New York Central 3001 (Masquerading as Texas & Pacific 909), and then finally being displayed at the Museum of American Railroad in Frisco, Texas to this day. Had it not been vandalized.
I hope when 3001 is in service it will take the spotlight away from engines like 611 and become the new face of American excursion locomotives especially being an NYC locomotive
I could’ve seen it when I visited Indiana, but I went to the Hesston steam museum instead, still I’m so glad that we’re seeing a central being brought back to life. (I know that the Penn Central guy will be happy with this news)
So, someone found a good use for the 2nd part of "My Deer Friend Nokotan" opening theme! 😂😂 Seriously, seeing this restored will be a feather in the cap of those restoring it to join the ranks of like Reading's 2102 and (If the WMSR ever gets it out of the shop!) the C&O 1309. Once it's running, Darkness The Curse should check Alfred Perlman's grave for a spinning corpse...!
The reason why Perlman couldn't save any Hudsons or Niagaras is because the NYC was struggling financially at that time. At least he was kind enough to preserve 3001, 2933, 999, 6721, and 6894.
NYC just donated nyc2933 and nyc999. The rest was saved because it was sold to another railway's, 3001 was sold to T&P, 6721 sold to Central Illinois Public Service Company etc.... NYC999 was saved because of his huge history background ,even Perlman can denied 999 is important to NYC history.... NYC2933 was lucky, forget has stationary steam boiler after most of NYC steam was scrapped....
@@DillianTrainzStudios Perlman knew the economic impact Diesels GP 7s and F7a would have on the bottom line, and if you could scrap one old locomotive, you could get 3 or 4 diesels. They placed a large order for diesels, and moved ahead of the competition. By 1952 deliveries of new diesels were showing up everywhere on the system.
As a Pensy fan my self, I’m thrilled to hear this news! And it wouldn’t surprise me, after the T1 5550 is done, and the 3001 is running, that we may potentially see a dryfuss Hudson rebuilt??? What ya’ll think?
According to a book written by Eric Hischimaki, the 3001 was built by Lima, and not by ALCO, in 1941? You might want to research your file on the Mohawk! Mike Saeli
Everyone who doesn't know where 3001 is, It's at Elkhart Indiana and will probably get restored by late 2025! It's a big project going on by Fort Wayne They have already rescued 765, so why not 3001 this time! I wonder if it will be owned by Norfolk Southern after it's restored and be running with 611...
It Would be Cool if this Gal Ran along the Waterlevel (Now the Metro-North's Hudson Line,) With the Exception of NYC's Harlem 125th Street & Grand Central, Bc Steam Has been Banned in City Limits Since 1908, (And A Firmer Law in 1923) Other Than These things, It Would Be A Nice Spot To Take Cinematic pictures.
Again, makes me proud to be a Hoosier. And for once I don’t have to ride shotgun in a car for an eternity because something awesome is in another state, IT’S RIGHT HERE (HAPPY AUTISM NOISES)
Mohawk 3001 had to go to Texas to replace an engine that had to be scrapped because it was Highly Vandalized. To be clear, *NO ONE* should ever be compelled to Vandalize a Steam Locomotive. And those Vandals who did do such a thing are probably rotting in Hell for their sins right now.
