Pidcock is set up for greatness. Light enough to fly up climbs and a psycho on the descents so the heavier riders can't make up the time they've lost on the climbs. BEAST.
A problem for light riders is minimum weight limit and helmets are greater proportion of his overall bike + rider mass than for larger riders. Being so light, he needs to be surrounded by larger team mates as he has less mass to cope with gusts of wind. Heavier riders are not penalised by their weight like they were in old days because bikes are so light, aero, comfortable, and the gears plus training and diet. The wide range of gears makes a huge difference: my 2018 Roubaix has Ultegra 11-speed block. My 531 steel frame in 1990s only just fitted a Suntour Ultra6 giving me 12 gears with bigger jumps and my biggest gear spun out and my lowest gear was 42*28 so I zig-zagged up 25% slowly with tyres slipping on gravelly surfaces. If he makes podiums with Pog winning, he'll be doing well
Happy Birthday Patrick. I think regardless of what it means for the rest of the season, it's good to see Pidcock racing in this way, at the front, making the race his own. He's a quality rider who in the past has been slightly betrayed by his results sheet. When he wins- he wins well.
Really hope Pidcock does well this season in the Spring classics, maybe grab an Amstel, E3 or similar. Looking god! LR, can we get a podcast about the amazing racing we've been seeing in Spain? Morgado, Scaroni, Christen, Hirschi... it's been great
Looks like LR will be my go-to this year as TNT have screwed over their subscribers in the UK. Hopefully you still get rights for the highlights, all the best for 2025!
Lanterne Rouge: " I have NEVER Seen Tom Pidcock Riding so Confidently | AlUla Tour 2025 Stage 4 " Pidcock: "Hey Lanterne, SavagePro said before, and I will repeat it . . . I'm here to make Ineos regret their decision with a magnitude factor of Q35.6!"
Can we actually think of an "easy" race in the World Tour these days? I swear all of the races are ON races now, there don't seem to be the ones where a few people go to get some points or check form after an injury, it's game on at all times. It got me thinking and figured I'd post.
UCI 6.8kg minimum is more to do with maintaining safety and the equipment weight not becoming a factor in climbing performance. I agree, the smaller guys are disadvantaged, but then there's no larger 70-80kg guys winning GT battles anymore. Wiggins & Thomas the last really. Pogacar is miniscule 66kg by comparison and Vingo 58kg.
@@SamHocking Safety? Sure. Make that 12%, perhaps. Pidcock 58kg to be fitted to a 6.8kg bike for safety. Another 90kg rider can be fitted with an 11kg bike for safety AND fairness. Just saying .....
@@R6ex Yes safety, but within the bike construction itself for all riders. You can spend big $$ and race on a 4kg bike and weight 58kg like Vingo, but it won't last, likely break in crashes and potholes etc and so will cost teams much more to be competitive and replace continually. The lower budget teams that cannot afford 4kg bikes for their 50kg riders will now be even more disadvantaged than with a 6.8kg limit across all teams. End of the day the equipment has to be neutral and consistent even though smaller riders are perhaps disadvantaged. However, they are also at a massive watts/kg advantage anyway when Vingo can output as many watts as a Brad Wiggins weighing 20kg more already uphill.

Yes but realistically he's only ever gonna be winning tours at this level with moderate comp.

Picock is a good rider. He will farm a ton a races with Q365 but he’s not anywhere near true GC competition
Happy Birthday Patrick.

Happy birthday, 🇬🇧 well done Tom
Deja vu. I just watched this...
why is no one talking about kepplinger? guy started cycling like 3 years ago, is 70kg and climbs with some of the worlds best. got a strong tt as well
Hatherly has looked impressive, interesting to see how he goes this year
LOVE this for Tom. It’s amazing what happens when you have both support and talent
Happy Birthday, great video as always
Pidcock didn't do the cyclocross session this winter. He's done 5 and 10 minute PBs recently. It'll be great to see what he's like in the Classics.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday LR!
Let's not get too excited. It's a bit like the first rounds of the FA cup. Wait until the big boys come out to play.
Happy birthday 🎂
Now that Pidcock is not with Ineos he seems more likeable.

Happy bday!
Happy birthday!
What happened to 'we're doing it in one take'
I mean, we all knew Pidcock was great on unipuerto stages.
Happy Birthday 🎉
He was pretty confident when winning the ADH stage of TDF
Happy birthday Patrick!!!!
Happy birthday

More than 25% of pidcocks wins in pro cycling were in these past few days. Kinda crazy how little he has won for how big of a name he is.
He was in a race that had Roojai Insurance from Thailand in it so hardly TDF level.
2:17 that camera/light angle or my dodgy eyes saw the peloton riding off a landslide 😂

Alula Tour is not in the world tour.
Happy birthday Patrick, you’re getting old mate
There’s no competition for him in this tour.
we need to check with high level world tour riders, not in that mid level
Alpe d' Huez winner anyway
A lot of watts wasted by the Alula boys on the first three km of that plateau. That penalized them in the run-in for sure. Happy birthday !
It seems like people forget how much damage he does to himself when he joins CX and MTB races during the road "off-season".
what was Dunbar doing? Just when he needs to ride for Hatherly he attacks off the front.
Cakes and Candles LR
Of course he's confident, this is a low level race. These results will not be duplicated when riding he is racing against high level competition.
Tiny Tim 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
He's riding v ham and eggs .. so yeah, he l00ks great.
UCI need to peg a bike's minimum weight to a certain %-tage of a rider's weight, coz lightweight riders are bring penalized with fixed weight.

Two in a row, one would almost think someone likes Pidget the Midget
Happy birthday
